I came here on 5/6/23, and though I immediately took notes of the details of the experience, I waited so long to write a review because the woman who did my hair was pleasant. I didn’t want to damage her reputation, but 9 months later, and especially after talking with friends about the wonderful stylists they’ve found in the area, I cannot stop thinking about how unacceptable my experience was. I’d like to help out others who are looking for a hair cut for the first time on the island.
Poor Hygiene standards: Touched cash, didn’t wash her hands, started cutting my hair; stuck her ring finger in her ear, continued cutting my hair; dropped the brush on the ground and made no attempt to sterilize it.
The stylist insisted she only did a dry cut; so, she cut my hair dirty. I came with unwashed hair on purpose, and it was not a pleasant experience having my dirty hair draped across my face for well over an hour as she cut it.
My hair looked nice, but still not as good as I expected, even after asking her to correct it once. I also showed her several pictures before the cut to get the exact look I was going for.
The fact that I was charged an extra $25 with no explanation (I questioned her about the cost) and it took TWO Hours was unacceptable and just added insult to injury on top of the super gross experience of getting my hair cut at Lockstar Beauty Bar.
Obviously, I will not be back and I could not recommend anyone else come here either.

I had my hair done yesterday for a work banquet and I absolutely love it! I went into the salon not really knowing what I wanted, but Cassie put together the perfect look. She did an amazing job!

Emily and Michael did hair for my wedding and I can’t even begin to say how AMAZING they both are! Emily did my wedding hair, trials, and some of my bridesmaids hair. She is seriously the sweetest and most talented person! She truly brought my vision to life for my wedding hair and I couldn’t have been more happy with it. She is also the most down to earth person and made me feel so comfortable every time I met with her, it was like being with one of my friends. Michael did my bridesmaids hair and totally killed it! We had so many laughs with them the day of the wedding. I couldn’t recommend Emily and Michael enough!!! They are both so talented!

Beware of online booking. I requested a makeup appointment as I was in town for a wedding. I used the online form which said I would receive a confirmation that my request was accepted. Never got an email or a text from them. Then the day of the wedding they charged me $95 for a no show. When I told them they never confirmed, they charged my card anyway! If you do choose to book, I suggest you don't leave your card details til you get a confirmation.

I have been a client of April’s for about 15 years. There is a reason she is the stylist and colorist I have been going back to for years. Her work is extraordinary. She has such an eye for color, cut and style. Additionally, my hair is challenging. I have the frizziest, wildest curls and April always knows how to work with my crazy hair and leave me looking gorgeous, and beautiful. Her perfection and attention to detail when it comes to blond work is out of this world, and she will always give sound advice to ensure your hair is healthy and beautiful during your appointment. Every salon she has owned is thoughtfully laid out and this new one is my favorite. I highly recommend Lockstar Beauty Bar. I cannot say that enough.

Easiest 5 stars I have given! I am still swooning over my bridal hairdo. The whole wedding process with Lockstar was easy. Their communication, planning and execution was excellent. It is easy to be overwhelmed with planning, contracts and schedules but they made this whole process seamless.Amy was my hairstylist. My hair is very thick, heavy and long. I was very nervous that the hair style I wanted wouldn't hold. Amy executed this style flawlessly at both my bridal hair trial and on my wedding day. When the drizzle and intense winds picked up at my outdoor wedding I was confident that my locks would stay put. My hair held all night!Both Amy and Michael did the hairstyles for my bridesmaids, both moms and grandma. It was a wide range of different hair types, lengths and desired styles. Everyone was thrilled with their work. I HIGHLY recommend Lockstar, Amy and Michael!!! I would give them 6 stars if I could!

Had my hair done by Cassie and makeup by Emily for my rehearsal dinner. Both did an AMAZING job. I wanted a blow out for my hair and it did not disappoint! My hair normally gets flat after an hour. With Cassie’s blow out, my hair stayed voluminous alll day and night! I was shocked and so happy with how it looked. My makeup also looked fabulous and I was constantly getting compliments on it all night. Will definitely come back to lockstar again!Services: Hairstyling

If I lived in RI, I would visit this place all the time!!! Gianna did an amazing job on my makeup. I wish I had known about her on my wedding day because I would have seriously flown her to California. I asked for a very natural look but that you could tell I did my make-up, and that is exactly what she did. She is so kind, and I love that she explains what she is putting on my face and what it's for. Everyone there was so awesome! They even squeezed in my daughter (6 years old), and her curls lasted 2 day!!

I was planning to be in town for a wedding and decided to try Lockstar Beauty Bar. I was fortunate enough to be scheduled with Brooke who styled the most amazing glam curls!!! My hair was perfect and lasted all night long! I could not have been happier. She was even willing to style my daughter’s hair on short notice and did a great job. Buyer beware. This salon cancelled our 3 make up appointments with 4 minutes’ notice. Their one makeup artist suddenly (and allegedly) came down with COVID, and they had NO backup. Is the pandemic new information? The whole world has been operating with a COVID contingency plan for years now. We were left scrambling for our event. Do not rely on this poorly run business.
