Having owned a small business I know how important it is to engage with you our customers. I was optimistic when the guy at the cashier booth said hello when I walked in. Asked where the paddles for a SUP was and he said go down back and there is someone to help you with them. Asked the person where they were and he pointed and said over there. Never came over to help but almost jumped off his stool when a family from St. George's walked in. I was ready to buy with a budget of $400 and now I am headed to the kayak center in Wickford.

INSTRUCTOR LEFT MY DAUGHTER IN THE WATER BY HERSELF I paid for an hour of private surf lesson for my daughter. Second Beach is nice beach for such a lesson and Island Surf and Sport has an extensive variety of surfboards. I was really excited for my daughter to hone her skills in another beach. After halfway through my daughter's lesson, the instructor left my daughter in the water by herself. When I asked her why she left my daughter, she replied and said that 'she is so good and doesn't need my help.' On one hand I'm flattered for my daughter but the more I think about it, the more I feel strongly that my daughter should not have been left alone - regardless of her abilities. Not only did she stop teaching - but the instructor went back to the tent, removed her wetsuit and changed into her bikini! The tent is a good 50 feet away from the water. And further still if you are in the water surfing. Much to my horror, when I called and granted two weeks had passed since - the Manager Ed didn't find anything wrong with this scenario. He told me that my daughter is a teenager and there were lifeguards on duty so that my daughter was not in danger!?!? He further questioned me why I was complaining two weeks later. Understandably, we did not return the next day and took lessons somewhere else. Since our return home, I had been busy with the run up to the start of school. But as a parent, I would be remiss to NOT post this negative experience. Whether my daughter knew what she was doing or not, at minimum the instructor should have stayed within an arms length of my daughter. I did not pay for a full hour of private lesson for someone to watch my daughter from afar in a bikini!

Bought a product similar to Spikeball here last month called Rebound Volley. Realized it didn’t come with a ball pump when I got to the beach, so there was no way to play it. I was denied a refund when I went back to return it, and although it was only $50, it was pretty frustrating/disappointing that the cashiers and manager were so unwilling to accept the unused product. And I’m flying out of the area later this week so there’s no use in finding a ball pump now. Would recommend against shopping here, but if you do, don’t expect to get refunded for any returns and come with your own ball pump (or product equivalent).

The old guy w white hair is really rude. I went to rent a board because I broke a fin box and he was totally unhelpful and acted like I was an idiot because I asked to look at the boards they were renting. Ok dude never mind I won't rent your boards then... sorry for trying to give you business.

Amazing experience. The variety of things for sale, especially boards, was insane. The staff was so helpful and really took the time to educate me on everything.

i paid for a new patagonia jacket. when i got home, i realized that the coat was a return and worn. the jacket heavily smelt of perfume. i asked for a refund and was denied. the manager argued with me in front of two associates denying the coat was worn. i left my number for the owner and never received a call. will never shop here again. was a customer for 40 years. i to like support local business and that is why i formerly shopped here.when i buy directly from patagonia the clothes dont reak of perfurme, are unworn, they take returns, and offer full refunds. definitely not supporting businesses who dont support the locals. shop patagonia on thames. bye bye ?

I bought a pair of swim wear from this store. I did not like the article and tried to return it a few hours later. I was informed that the store does not do returns for money, but will only give "store credit" or exchange for another item. Nothing at this store informed me this was their policy. Don't bother shopping here.

Some friends came in from out of town needing to rent some boards. Everyone got hooked up, good boards, reasonably priced. Mad close to the beach which was really convenient.

It seems if you go into this place and know what you are looking for you may seem strange to staff. So much so they start watching you commenting loudly where you may go in the store. (after clearly figuring this out myself btw) How about signs or blocking the office stairs? Then asking what im looking for because I seemed off? The best was after I explained what I wanted and that I had been refered here from Elemental, instead of telling me we do not have that this guy went with "those are not made anymore"? I was across the street where you sell them in your other store I needed another size. Do business with Water Bros instead.
