Thelma Francoa minute agoA lady name Melisa in the service desk is very rude not only to the employees but also the customers. For example yesterday November 3, I needed a balloon but no one was at the flower and balloons section so I went to customer service to ask if someone can help me with which she answered no; I have no one there bit with attitude. I said oh but I need a balloon, she's like okay. I said I was hoping they had the singing balloons. she say I know we don't have those. and put her head down. I said I still want to get a balloon tough she kind of raised her voice and said whatever is out there is what we have okay. I say but it's nothing out there. can I go inside and get one? she was like. uhg give me a minute... so I walk away. the reason I waited was cause I really needed the balloon. the person that tend to me came and apologized for making me wait and gave me the balloons I needed. there's no need to deal with people like Melissa.

This chain should close down especially because Market Basket is right around the corner. Everything is so much cheaper. Stop and Shop has been price gauging for years.

This store has gone downhill fast. Back when we first moved to the area, it was THE place to go get your groceries. Even I bought my groceries here for years until I started seeing some discrepancies with how they charge you for items. For example, when they advertise an item as "4 for $5", you HAVE TO GET all four of that specific item in order to get that bargain. If you get any other quantity, you are penalized and get charged the FULL and original price of the item. They once had a bank in the store...gone. They once had a pharmacy in the store...gone. They once had customers in the store...gone, but not only because of those pricing practices but also because of better competition that moved in down the street. I started to feel bad and decided to go back today to give them some business. That was a mistake after seeing those pricing problems still around today as I have proof of that on my receipt...so I am GONE!!

Ever try to call their corporate headquarters to get a problem handled that can't be addressed or corrected by a store manager??? Impossible because there is no way to call this company????? They will give you a customer service number to call that is located somewhere on the planet ,,, the person is very difficult to converse with for a variety or reasons and all they do is ask you what store do you shop at. Then the Manager of that store is contacted and he/she can't solve the issue. There is no management of this company. How did the " Go Rewards" program get introduced??? A far cry from seamless!!!! So many issues and no one there cares. Can't wait for Market Basket to open near me...

This store was a disaster 9/1/19 Labor Day. I get that it's a Holiday but so should management! They should anticipate more shoppers on holidays like this and be prepared with the correct amount of employees. It was about 1:30 and the store was mobbed. A huge line(at least 10+ people) for the 6 self check out registers and only about 4 cashiers ringing at their own register's? Thus leaving the lines super long- to the point that you cannot even walk around the front of the store because the people waiting in line are blocking the aisles! This is also not the first time I've been to this Stop & Shop and experienced this exact same problem! The deli line today was absolutely insane- it took me about 40 minutes to get some cold cuts today! Again- unacceptable! The store was also really unorganized and messy. I saw produce on the floor and the produce itself didn't look too great! I also have to agree with another Yelper regarding the employee at The Self Checkout. So I was trying to self check out $200+ in groceries and given all the long lines was trying to do it fast and was told "It's a one person operation"! WHAT ? I also experienced the huffing and puffing as the machine was just malfunctioning on its own- through no fault of mine- although a few were my fault! Although she was rather friendly to me- I did feel as though I was a burden! Robots are creepy and don't appear to do much besides get the in the way? I heard they clean? But I never saw this happen as I heard "Cleanup in Aisle 5" about 15 times while I was in there today..! To the point where it got annoying! All in all they really need to step it up. This used to be a decent store! The prices are pretty good (especially compared to my local market- IGA) and you really make out here when there is a sale! Whenever the 12 packs of soda go on sale- I'm here! However I do have to say this store carries some of the newer things that I enjoy such as "Ginger Ale & Lemonade" Soda, Del Monte Bubble Fruit, Watermelon Juice (Tropicana or the "Simply" brand).

I ALWAYS despise coming to this location, but today took the cake. I had just come from working a full overnight shift, went to Greenville to try to grab some leftover corned beef from St.pattys hoping it would be on sale like it has been the past 2 years the day after the holiday. Greenville was sold out...which right then was my sign from above to stop searching. But I decided to come to the Johnston location. They had some left! Great. I loaded up my basket, there was a sign next to the bin that said .99cents per pound. Which I easily could have mistaken for something else that was in the bin for sale, which later on I found out I most likely did. It was still early 8am at this time, I went to self check out hoping to not bother anyone so early and be on my way! I noticed the beef was ringing up full price even after I had used my stop and shop card. I activated the help button, and had to look around for the short, older, heavy set woman with a short haircut to come help me. She was right behind me and didn't come to me until I had to turn around and make it obvious I was looking for help, despite me being the only person in self check out. She automatically seemed annoyed the second we made eye contact. I inquired about the price and she did explain the 3 day sale had ended yesterday. Fair enough. I explained what I thought I saw was a .99cent per pound sign in the meat section and another cashier who had nothing to do with anything, from her register turned around and put her two cents in. Unnecessary. After a second I clearly realized I was mistaken and there was no sale. So I stated I was all set with the transaction, and didn't want to make the purchase. The older woman again seemed annoyed, and started waving the flyer around trying to explain the sale again as I was literally walking out. I was trying my best to not make a scene at that point and just continued to walk out, because I was very nice to her the entire time. It's completely fine there was a misunderstanding with the sale on my end, HOWEVER, please be mindful it's early in the morning, she most likely had just gotten to work at max a few hours ago, and here I am after working an entire overnight shift and already had come from a previous stop and shop location to find this stupid corned beef. If you're miserable, don't come to work and spread it around to innocent people trying to shop. This store is ALWAYS disgusting every time I come by, which isn't often because I dread this location. I've had an older man sitting on a bench inside ask me for a cigarette as I was exiting before. The cashiers wear gloves like the public is tainted or something. It's bizarre and quite frankly unnecessary. I get being sanitary but cmon. And their produce here for some reason never seems fresh. They only get the extra star to make it two because they do carry a handful of different items than Greenville which is enjoyable. I won't be revisiting here anytime soon unless it's out of desperation. I spend several hundred dollars a month on groceries with this company so it's extremely disheartening to see how night and day god awful this location is compared to Greenville. Avoid this location.

Produce is always horrible. Fruit flies around fruit. Even after inspecting for the best fruits they become moldy in a couple of days. Meat has tasted rotten. Literally the worst.

This isn't my usual location I stop in for my weekly shopping. If I'm in the area and need to pick something up I'll stop in. This location always seems to be well stocked, and items are easy to find. The staff on the other hand are hard to find, and usually always engaged in conversation with each other and if you ask them a question it's almost as if you're ruining their conversation about non-work related topics. The self-check out is another issue. There's a lady there that will stand over your shoulder and watch you scan every items and tell you how to place it in the bag, or inspect each item to make sure you've scanned the correct item. And if the machine requires assistance? Watch out! She will huff and tell you exactly what you did wrong, even if it was an error with a bar code you have no control over. Regardless, if I need something in a pinch and I'm in the area I'll stop in. Other than that, I do try to avoid this location.
