Hidden fees, poor communication, can never get a hold of anyone. Can never get a hold of anyone at the front desk. We’re told one thing and then told another thing. Just very inconsistent. Corporatized veterinary medicine. We pay $45 a month for their program where we have basic vet visits and teeth cleaning covered. My dog passed away, and I was told I owed the rest of the year without any sympathy. They refused to cancel my plan without charging me over $300. They have deceptive practices that are totally unethical. They try to use the excuse of “you signed a contract” Instead of doing the right thing. I’m paying for a service that was never rendered. So ridiculous and heartbreaking at the same time.

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE. had a close friend being in her healthy elderly cat for a dental cleaning 2 days ago, and Dr. Hubbard KILLED her cat. Called and said “there was complications” and to bring the cat to Ocean State. She assured my friend that he cat would be alright (the cat was already looking near death when my friend got there). Dr. Hubbard Did not attempt to treat the cat or save its life while she was in her care, instead the cat died in traffic on the way to Ocean State. Once there, the vets at Ocean State determined that the cat died from a punctured Trachea. Dr. Hubbard was careless and did not take responsibility for this unfortunate death. Please be careful with these negligent vets

They killed my friends cat during a routine teeth cleaning and then took no responsibility for it.

Our cat was killed during his dental cleaning appointment. My healthy elderly cat was dropped off at Banfield hospital in Johnston for a dental cleaning and was in the care of Dr. Christine Hubbard. We got a call where they told us that there were some complications but they failed to mention what the cause was. We rushed to the vet and they told us he wasn’t breathing and that we had to take him to the ocean state hospital which is about a 40 minute drive away. My entire family is heart broken because this doctor was careless and she didn’t take any responsibility for it, no apology or explanation. It doesn’t make any sense to tell us to take him to an emergency hospital 40 minutes away when he had already stopped breathing. She wanted to clean her hands and basically made us take him so she didn’t have to file and incident report. When we got to the hospital they had told us that she had poked a hole through his trachea and pushed too hard where something broke and that’s what caused him to asphyxiate. He was a healthy cat there wasn’t anything wrong with him and this doctor took him away from us. Please whatever you do do not leave your pets in the care of the people at Banfield hospital in Johnston especially in the hands of Dr. Hubbard. Even after all the damage was done they couldn’t even be honest with us. Before the drive to ocean state hospital we had asked if he was going to be okay and the secretary asked the doctor and she lied and just said yea he’ll be fine while knowing that he was already dying. He didn’t make it. She specifically said don’t take him out the carrier and do not touch him. He suffered his last moments without any comfort or warmth because of this doctor. His body inflated like a ballon and his mouth was full of liquid he died on the drive there. He suffered so much in his last moments it all could’ve been avoided. Dr. Hubbard didn’t even offer to give him any oxygen or to just simply keep him there, he died in the middle of traffic. I understand there is always a risk to any procedure but these doctors should be prepared for these risks and act accordingly. My family and I trusted this doctor and her staff because they’re supposed to be specialized in this field but the way they treated our cat and us that day is unforgivable. If Dr. Hubbard would’ve taken full responsibility for her actions maybe the outcome would’ve been different. I’m sure they could’ve done something to help him there but they did what was easiest for them and that was to get rid of him. Dr. Hubbard should get her practitioner license taken away she has no sense of professionalism or accountability whatsoever. This isn’t the first time we’ve had an issue at Banfield before and we should’ve left after the first incident. If your pets are under their care or if you’re thinking of bringing them to Banfield in Johnston please save yourself the heartache and don’t do it.

The reception at this Banfield location is always spot on. The vet techs and assistants are always friendly, helpful and so attentive to my kitty, Kya. I love that the veterinarian takes the time to call me personally and update me at each visit.

This place is the worst place to bring Your pet, nobody answers the phone ever. The sign you up into a contract that is called a wellness plan it basically covers nothing. I tried to cancel because my son signed my credit card and i gave him no permission. It was 2 days and they wouldn't let me cancell. They charged me over 900.00 to spade her. And i hade to give them over a 100.0 cash..My sister went some were else and they spaded her dog for120.00 and planted a chip. Also gave her shots dewormerd. Her and gave her pain meds and antibiotics. And clipped her nails for free not changed her 20.00 like banfield pet hospital does.you can't even cancel there in person and the number you call has no agents to answer so plan on hanging on the phone for hours. So far i been on the phone for a hour and a half. My plan renews in December so if i cant get thru. They will keep charging me for a year. I think i should call attorney generals office. Dont go there. Beware of this company there crooks. They wont let you out of you agreement. And they wont even Prescribed heart worm medicine for your pet. I never heard of this at any other veterinarian office. You dont even deserve 1 star. Banfield you should be ashamedOf yourself.

Excellent communication skills and help with my dog’s prescription for his special diet food. They saved me a lot of time and headache and they have a great RX food dispensary system there.

This place legit NEVER answers their phone. I could call 5 times throughout the whole day and they won’t pick up once. I have to physically drive there to talk to anyone. They also put your animal through random tests they don’t need to get money out of you. I don’t even know how this place is still open

Never again. The male was nice, but upon doing a wellness check he totally missed a lump on my dogs belly.. Front staff was a bit rude and they neverrrrrrrr answer the damn phone or even return calls EVER! It's so annoying. I understand the office may be busy; but c'mon. I've legit been calling a few times a week for the last few weeks and nothing. I live extremely far. Switching vets.

They're a bit expensive, but I feel as though they are worth it. The dogs never have an issue there, we have all their meds on time, I really have no real complaints.

If you care about your pet at all, absolutely DO NOT take them here. I’m not sure if the hiring of these “doctors” requires any actual experience or knowledge whatsoever but it sure doesn’t seem like it does. My dog has a bump on her neck which I asked them to check on 3 separate visits. First visit they told me “no news is good news”. Second visit they told me her blood tests didn’t raise any red flags. Finally the third visit, they biopsied it and found it to be a tumor. After doing some research and asking some vet tech friends of mine, I found out that blood tests would never show any issues in terms of what she has. In other words, I was lied to on 2 occasions and I’m fairly certain the first time, they told me “no news is good news” because they hadn’t bothered to check anything at all so there was no “news” to report. That’s not to mention that their whole process now is “drop off your pet and leave” which is completely unacceptable. On another occasion, one of the doctors administering shots to my dog decided she didn’t like that my dog was sitting by my legs since she was scared and grabbed her collar and forcefully pulled her right in front of me.TL;DR, this hospital is filled with hacks and “doctors” who barely have a clue what they’re doing and could not be bothered to show you or your pet even a sliver of respect. I truly would rate them 0 stars if that were possible and I absolutely do not recommend anyone ever take their animals here
