“I just joined this week. The staff are friendly and most helpful. I was trained on the egym equipment by Dave. He took time with me explaining how to use each machine. I am so excited to be a member and looking forward to taking advantage of all the facility has to offer.”

“Visiting from out of town, had to stop by for the Waterfire Festival! It’s a fun local event, they have street performers and vendors. The atmosphere is fun thanks to the braziers and people. I haven’t been in 5 years, and there certainly was more people than I’ve ever seen. If you’re a local, I’d make the way out to waterfire just for a memorable night.”

“I grew up near amos house and recently attended a training program held there. I was wildly impressed with the growth it has seen since my youth when it was "that place that serves free food to homeless people." While the populace does majorly consist of people contending with some form of addiction or mental health struggle, Amos House is a treasure trove of resources and support, with all manner of social services for anyone who may need them. They're doing amazing work.”

“I don't know how to express my reviews for SPCA. We just lost a cat about a month ago and were looking for adopting another one. I reached out to Marie O'Toole and she responded to my email immediately. I went to their website and chose a cat. I filled out an application and met the cat. Olivia is excellent. The whole process was a smooth sailing. Very reasonable fees and gave all the belongings to the cat. Olivia helped me to load the car. Thank you all for bringing joy to our lives after losing a cat. The cat is healthy, beautiful and adorable.”

“I can't express enough gratitude for the outstanding service provided by Tatayana and Rayanny at Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island. They were incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate while assisting Shagufta with her immigration case.

Tatayana's expertise and thorough understanding of the immigration process were invaluable. She made sure every detail was covered, providing clear explanations and guidance every step of the way. Her dedication to helping us was truly remarkable.

Rayanny's support was equally impressive. She went above and beyond to ensure Shagufta felt comfortable and confident throughout the process. Her kindness and patience were greatly appreciated, making a complex and stressful situation much more manageable.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Tatayana and Rayanny, Shagufta's case was handled efficiently and successfully. I highly recommend Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island for their exceptional service and the amazing team they have. Thank you, Tatayana and Rayanny, for your dedication and hard work!

“You can tell these women put their heart and souls into the food. It is a perfect mix of middle eastern quizine. Their bread rivals five stars bread in town and their meals are a beautiful medley of flavors that light up your senses. To eat this food, the first word came to mind was happiness. I ate their lamb meal and couldn’t wait to find out when they were on the delivery apps so i could order through them.”

“The RI Tree Council’s Tree Steward course is great! I take it every 5 years. I learn more each time. A few days after we completed this year’s course, my husband and I planted 8 trees. We felt confident that we planted them correctly because we learned every step of the process in the course.”

“Trying to do a hike a day during the pandemic. Cheaper than 24-hour therapy. This Sunday we also needed books and groceries. This hike was perfect: did all the trails, took about 1.25 hours. Up and down. You always heard traffic ... but it couldn't get you. Encountered a half-dozen others, everyone masked. Muddy in spots because of rain ... but we wore boots. Then we headed over to the mall you can see next door: Barnes & Noble + Dave's, one of the best food emporiums we know (and we know the outdoor markets of France intimately). A good day. Sanitized our hands three times.”

“It was my pleasure to do a henna workshop for the enthusiastic and talented students at Riverzedge Arts. Their staff photographer sent me photos of my class before I even got home, confirming that they had the proper model releases to be able to do so and hadn't taken photos of anyone who didn't want them taken. It was such a wonderful surprise to get such excellent photos. They also sent me home with two tote bags designed and printed in house, one of which all the students in the workshop signed in henna :) What a great experience. Thanks for having me, Riverzedge!”

“The Rhode Island Foundation was organized at the Rhode Island Hospital Trust Co. in June 1916 by a small group of prominent Rhode Islanders. I have been involved in several events sponsored by the Rhode Island Foundation and I believe they do a great job for the state and the local communities. This non profit is committed to strengthening Rhode Island through strategic initiatives in education, health, and economic security, as well as through impact investing, diversity, inclusion, and equity work. “I have seen firsthand how this organization can drastically change the trajectory of a child’s life. I wish more people, especially men of all colors; regardless of economic status would give as much as 1 hour a week to these children.”

“The outdoors club I run just hosted our annual meeting here and we had a great experience. It is easy to get to, has lots of parking, and the price is just right to rent the room. We had about 50 people and could have definitely fit more and still felt comfortable. Lots of plugs for our AV equipment. We brought our own catering and paid for folks sodas and then had a cash bar. The bar is right there in the room (looks nice, it is just for the room, there is a members bar downstairs). The fellow we worked with was great as well and gave us a great catering recommendation.”

“Amazing non profit that provides a safe, welcoming space for LGBTQ+ youth. They have several different programs that run throughout the week so there’s something for everyone. Stop & Shop makes periodic donations so there’s something to eat for those who need it. The staff is so warm and welcoming, and the space is surprisingly big and well decorated. This place deserves a lot of support from the Providence community!”
