This gym went so insanely downhill when it was sold to the point where all of my friends and I canceled our memberships. We are lifters and the new owners made it really hard for us to do what we needed to do. The "planet fitness-Esque" rules killed it for us. Last I knew they were making a "lifting room" for lifters to drop weights but I left before that was finished. It just turned way too commercial and we powerlifters weren't taken seriously anymore. The old owners were amazing and supportive. I will miss the community this gym used to have. But they ruined it.

Even before they remodeled I loved this place, now I'm sad I'm moving away soon.

Not a bad gym but their cancellation policy bites. I've never had such a difficult time before cancelling anything. This has been one hassle after another.

I was excited to find out Ocean State had been sold. Today when I called to join, I was advised it was a partnership and the owners are still involved in running this Gym. Unfortunately, I have witnessed them treating members and staff inappropriately so I will not return.

I did a free trial. Though it is a nice gym and lots of equipment to get the job done. The millennials are annoying. Slamming and dropping weights as if it was heavy. If you can't control the weight, then don't lift that heavy.. You look foolish.. They go to the bathroom and don't wash their hands. I guess without mommy to help them, they don't know how..

Great Community and welcoming gym! Owners are very passionate about what they do, and it shines throughout the gym. The facility itself is spotless and has just about any piece of equipment for any style of fitness or training.

I will say the gym is ok to go to it's an easy place to work out I will say this is probably the worst membership I've ever signed up for in my life. Yes it's affordable I agree but not only do you sign a contract and pay the yearly fee of $30 but I have been wanting to cancel waiting for my contract to be up and now every month there is an issue where my card doesn't work or something and now I'm paying 22$ a month for fees that are charged because of the mistakes with my card I have called over 10 times to resolve the issue and still every month a collections notice I pay with same card I always do over phone and no issue except the fact I'm paying extra 10$ a month. I would not recommend this gym to friends simply for their poor membership agreement I can't wait till my membership is up and I won't have to deal with the hassle anymore.

You get what you pay for. $15.99 a month for old equipment and a lot of people recording themselves working out. Variety of machines and enough dumbbells for all - but the plates are all old, mismatched, and never organized. Again, $15.99 so look at it through that lens. EDIT: I see the owner responded but ignored the loud "Facebook bros" constantly recording themselves AND YOU during their workouts. But hey, they offered me a training session so they could sell me more training sessions. I don't know what I expected.

If you're looking for a great place to workout OSHF is where you need to be. They have everything you need for the person who is just starting to the high performance athlete. Great mix of people, the owners and personal trainers are hands on and symbolize the health & fitness lifestyle. This is not the place to go if you're looking for the big health club chain mentality of people just taking up space to socialize or trying to pick someone up. The low cost membership is a plus, but based on what OSHF offers I would pay a higher price to belong.

I have lived in East Greenwich for 12 years and worked with three trainers. The club manager at OSHF, Amber Works, is the best yet. She is very responsive to limits imposed by my past injuries, yet she continues to challenge me and vary my workouts. Very knowledgable on a lot of health-related topics.
