I visited often with my now-estranged father, though I never remember what we actually rented. After picking out an appropriately G-rated movie, we would drive back home and load up the microwave with popcorn, inevitably burning it every time. The popcorn bowl was a giant blue plastic behemoth that no one ever remembered buying, like it just appeared in the kitchen one day through an act of God.
