Left me with a 275 bill for a missed appointment. Very disappointed. Very expensive. It’s all about money. Try potter league instead

I’ve been going to compassionate care for over 6 years with both of my English bulldogs. They’re frequent fliers and I end up having take trips to the vet almost every 4-8 weeks for one reason or another. I’ve never been late for an appointment or missed an appointment ever. I’ve spent thousands upon thousands of dollars annually here. I had an apt scheduled for one of my dogs today (Monday at 12:20) because he’s had some pretty bad inflamed lumps between his toes. I had brought them to the vets attention 6 weeks ago during a routine wellness apt and they said if they didn’t get better to have them rechecked when I came back in to get the rest of his annual shots. 6 weeks later they were still pretty bad and I had asked if they could recheck them while I was in the office and he was getting the rest of his shots. I was told I needed to schedule yet another appointment to have them looked at because a vet wasn’t available to look at them (even though I was told to ask during this visit): aka- “we need more of your money.” I didn’t make a big deal about it though and just scheduled another appointment. Luckily over this past weekend they got better so this morning (Monday) I called to cancel the appointment since it seemed pointless with them getting better. I also know it’s extremely hard for pet owners to get same day sick appointments (as I’ve struggled numerous times to do so and had to take my dogs to Tufts emergency room in walpole instead) so I know someone else will scoop my appointment up quickly. When I called they said that I would lose my deposit because I was cancelling within 24 hours. I get having a cancellation policy for people who are frequent offenders or no shows but I have been coming there for literally 6.5 years, at least 10-12 times per year between my two dogs, have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars each year, and have NEVER cancelled or missed an appointment. I also stated that yesterday I noticed his paws were much better and that it didn’t make sense to come but they’re closed on Sundays so I couldn’t actually cancel the appointment. I was then told had I left a message yesterday then I wouldn’t have lost my deposit and there’s nothing they can do about it. Yes, yes they can. This business isn’t a large corporate organization. It’s a small business that makes their own rules. I completely understand having a cancellation policy like this as I have the same policy with my own business but you don’t screw the good and loyal clients. Especially since we both know someone’s scooping up that appointment immediately and it’s doing them a favor freeing it up for a pet who truly needs it. This really put a horrible taste in my mouth and I will now be switching to a new vet. The name of the business has really gone out the window since 2020 and it’s sad to see.

Horrible - just the absolute worst service ever. Appointments are months out, hours are horrible for People who work 9-5 jobs, and every appointment there is some reason for a delay - today I've been sitting here for 1/2 hour....waiting.

Compassionate is a bold name for a business. If you’re daring enough to name your business that, you better live up to the name…to me it was anything but..denied care to my dog until she was on medication..refused to prescribe medication until they saw her..makes no sense..go somewhere else!! Anywhere else

The name of this clinic says it all. Compassionate care is exactly what our rabbit has received at this clinic. When your pet doesn't feel good it's such a comfort to know that someone is loving them and caring for them as their own. Dr. Coates is her doctor, and he's wonderful. The technicians have been amazing also. I highly recommend this clinic. - Lisa C

I have personally worked with Dr Linda Farrington in the early 2000's at Northern RI AH. I was her surgery technician . I just moved back home after living 6 years in Atlanta. I live in Somerset and work for Baystate Veterinary . My dog Khloe needed a dental. There was no-one else I trusted than Dr Farrington . I drove 45 mins each way to bring her there. I would have drove hours . My dog is 12 and my service dog and I was concerned but knowing Dr Farrington was doing the surgery I was not worried . Dr Farrington cares about her patients and does everything she can. I have known her to stay after hours and call clients on her day off. Also her prices are more than reasonable. I will never go anyway else. I have worked with many doctors in my 28 year Vet Career. Dr Farrington is the best !!!!!

Was told we got a call about an appointment neither me nor my husband had any voicemail. The deposit we had on one appointment they refused to credit toward our cats next appointment despite the only reason my husband was able to reach them was because they called about our cat we had seen. Mind you they have 2 contact numbers for all our pets. Anytime we want to make an appointment its a pain getting ahold of them ever to make appointments. They couldnt even just one time deal move the credit over for the cats appointment, because ya know we have 40$ to gamble with the vet to answer. Not pleased with this vet as of late.

Came here with my cat a few years back because someone recommended them for being very kind. Was met with coldness, attitude, judgement and the actual facility was dirty, noisy, and lacked compassion. What they ultimately provided was a traumatic experience in the face of putting my best friend down.My cat was born with an esophageal defect and over time it was closing up. I brought him in to this place, with all his vet history from MSPCA Angell in Boston, hoping to have a good experience closer to home but knowing we may have to put him down. The staff here looked down on me for my financial situation, didn't offer any alternatives. The woman who was the doctor was very abrasive. She lacked any compassion for my situation. After making what felt like a rushed and partially coerced decision to put my cat down through mouthfuls of tears and dogs barking loudly and making the cat nervous, they took my boy away into the back room. They told me they would be right back with him, they needed to put the arm catheter in to administer the medicine that would put him to sleep. When they brought him in the room ( nearly 45 minutes later) they said he was troublesome so they needed to sedate him early, without me there. I never got to say a proper goodbye to him with him lucid at all. It was the worst expereince I have ever had putting an animal down and I would never reccomend anyone go here. They didn't even say they were sorry for my loss, didn't tell me to take my time, and even seemed to judge me for crying. He was my best friend and this place ruined our last moments. Wish I had called for a refund or walked out without paying because it's been years and thinking about it still makes me sick.

I’ve been bringing my rabbits here for about 2 years. When I eventually adopted a dog, it was a no-brainer that he should come here too. The staff call to check in on the health of my little ones whenever they’re not well or had been seen at Ocean State (the clinic has a close partnership and regular communication with this animal hospital). For rabbits, especially, it can be hard to find any vet. I was so lucky to learn that Compassionate Care does care for exotics. My bunnies have regular nail trims here with the technicians.

Absolutely the best. All of the veterinarians and technicians, and peeps working in front have always been compassionate to my pup Enzo and to me. He's had many ups and downs over the 7 plus years we have had him. They all go above and beyond to give him the best care possible. I would never think of going anywhere else.

I have been going here for years. The best vets around. Kind, compassionate, caring people. Very helpful if you need help getting animals out of the car.

They have cared for 4 of my dogs over the years. Always very kind & show compassion. When one was going to stay overnight as a snow storm was coming they took such good care of her. She was a rescue that had been left in a home with other dogs before getting found. I was so concerned as she slept on my bed no cage. They let her have run of place as she was only one spending night, one stayed later than usual with her to be sure she was okay. I was grateful. When my Misty got ill & passed I did have to go to OSAH as they were booked. They called Me when they found out & sent beautiful card & flowers. Misty was a sweetheart, like Sandy in Annie,
