We adopted our girl and couldn't be happier. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and just all around great. They will set to up for success and truly care about all the animals there. Would highly recommend adopting from them

We just adopted our dog from Heart of RI. Her name is Siena and we got her one month ago. Our experience was so positive. We had a chance to interact with her a couple of times. The people there are so committed and were a wonderful help sharing feedback about each dog. Thank you!!

We just adopted our dog Daisy (formerly Mademoiselle) from EGAP. Nicole was WONDERFUL to work with. She responded to us quickly and set up a meet and greet with our other dog. She was flexible with meeting me at a time that worked with my schedule which I truly appreciate. Thank you for all that you do for the animals!!

Honestly, from the moment we walked in we felt judged and stigmatized. My boyfriend lost his family dog from years a little over a year ago and were getting ready to take the step to adopt. Once we were taken to ask which dog, the lady was full of excuses, for every single thing. We understand they want to secure a great home for these babies but judging because of what how old we look? We are 22-23 years old looking for a family dog. While we sat and watched married couples or older people be welcomed so warmly and allowed to meet any dog and werent given rude look and comments. Walked in with high hopes to find and give a puppy/ dog a forever home and walked away heartbroken. The other adoptees all got quiet in the room and noticed how we were being treated. When we were ready to leave the lady who was making excuses about pit bulls this, "oh these dogs arent trained so yeah so not a good fit", "oh these old bonded pair are really loud like i said not a good fit" "puppies are young and loud and not house trained not a good fit" we had NO chance to even see anything. Excuses and restrictions she was making up for us meanwhile we had none in our place of living. Horrible. CHERRY ON TOP while walking out the two workers gave us looks and whispered.

I dropped off a bag of Senior dog food for the Doggos. They rescue dogs from High kill shelters. So if you have anything they could use, please drop it off for them.

I was blessed to be rescued by my pup Lola thru EGAPL. Great Staff. I met Lola at a meet and greet and the process of her living in her forever home was so easy. Highly recommend. They are so loving and caring of all the animals. I wish I had more room. I’d have more bundles of joy. ??

Had the pleasure of fostering a few dogs with this organization and was lucky enough to see all the love they pour into these animals and ensuring they go to the right families. We also just adopted the most perfect pup to complete our family and can't thank them enough. Truly rockstars working and volunteering here!

Not responsive. I filled out an application and followed up through email without response for several weeks. I understand folks who work here are volunteers so that wasn’t the major issue. After pressing a few times, I hear back that my application was denied because of my living situation (which they should have mentioned would be an issue when I went to fill out the app, and asked them about it, in the first place). If you ask me, I think they are selective with the people they choose to adopt to. I suspect I wasn’t “the right kind” of person they usually adopt to. I won’t be recommending this organization to anyone I know.

We got our gorgeous kitten from Heart of RI and had the best experience. Nicole was really responsive throughout the whole process and it could not have gone smoother.

What a wonderful experience! Nicole helped us through the entire process and she was so unbelievably helpful and kind. What really stood out to me is that they don’t just allow adoptions to anyone, they know how to pick families and individuals who will fit the dog’s personality and that just goes to show how much they care! I would recommend this rescue to anyone who is seriously looking for the perfect addition to their family. Thank you EGAPL!! ❤️❤️

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. How could you scroll past Murphy's ears?! We spotted Murphy on Instagram and knew we had to pay a visit during the Saturday viewing hours. His personality was a perfect match to his overview that EGAPL had provided and we filled out an application and arranged a meet up so that Porcini our EGAPL adoptee from 2019 could give a thumbs up. Every touchpoint along the adoption process was personable, seamless, educational and timely. Special thanks going to the entire Team Heart and especially to Nicole and Murphy's foster family. We brought Murphy home on January 31st. Your dedication to finding homes for all of the animals under your care is evident, heartfelt and genuine. Keep telling their stories so we can find them. Sending ample love from The HoLo family for our early Valentine!

What an amazing organization to work with! We rescued Charlie (Cheers) last May and the process was seamless. The staff was friendly and welcoming and took great care in processing our application. We brought Charlie home in mid-May and honestly love him more every single day. A big thank you to the foster family who took such wonderful care of him for the first weeks of his life. They clearly loved him and invested a lot of time socializing and loving him.We would recommend EGAPL to anyone looking to rescue?
