My two daughters take swim lessons here, but the place is very run down and disgusting. Looking around you would assume they never clean or wipe anything down. There is rust and chipped paint everywhere you look. A lot of the swim teachers chit chat and start classes late which stinks for the parents/children. The price of swim lessons is very pricey especially for non members, so please train your staff to pay attention to the clock. I like to shower my kids before we come because the showers here are NASTY, but they now force you to take a shower in their dirty facilities before your swim lesson. If your hair isn’t soaked, they send you back to the dirty showers. These grotesque bathrooms are probably causing a lot of bacteria in the pool water. The pool is constantly getting closed down for weeks on end. Many swim lessons have been canceled. Thankfully they do refund for each cancellation. Additionally, there is barely anywhere for parents to sit since they took the bleachers out of the pool room. Parents must watch through the dirty windows. I never get a seat! I always have to stand up for the entire swim lesson and can barely see my child. They put huge pieces of equipment in front of the windows as well, further blocking the view of our children. For the money you’re charging parents, please update and CLEAN your facilities. The place feels like a prison/dungeon. Mostly all the staff I have dealt with are rude and condescending. There are a few very nice staff members here also. Please do better all around!

Pool chair lift for wheelchair users is always broken. They "don't know when it will be fixed."

What I'm about to say, I don't believe is the case. I think when the YMCAs across the state shut their pools down. They should send out an emergency alert to all their members. So we don't go all the way down to the y and then find out at the desk.

This facility was an outstanding place to visit and have a membership. However in recent years its declined. The leadership is not up to par, nor its workers. The pool was known to be pristine and now they have constant bacteria and algae issues. The place is dirty. I now go to the Kent County YMCA. There I have met many people, from different nationalities and backgrounds that utilized the Cranston location. Each time the Cranston location is chided and used as a punch line. Sad! Just the other day a 17 yr old boy said he rather attend the Kent county to avoid the drama that he has encountered there. He said; "I just want to play ball and enjoy a nice place." Another man, a Senior said, "I just left that location to come here because they had a pipe burst on the first day of summer." This is not winter time where you'd expect something like that to happen. I wish they would do something to bring back the good reputation that the CRANSTON Y used to have. I think the staff needs to be more cordial. Beginning with the leadership.

I only recently entered this gym because it's close by and membership is covered by my employer but I LOVE IT so much I debate picking up a part time job here; I'd love it if I could be here everyday! The staff are all SO wonderful! When I initially signed up it was hectic chaos surrounding us, but the admin at the desk was the most patient, informative, sweetest soul. They all are! You can tell employees genuinely enjoy one another here and are passionate about their community. This gym might be older but overall has everything you need, plus it's clean and they make all necessary updates. This gym and the people here restore my faith in humanity most days; finally, a gym to get excited about walking into :)

Not the place if you want your child to learn how to swim and has an specific special need even if you have explained the person in the aquatics department of such so you are basically paying for someone to baby sit your child because the people there actually "teach" the ones who could learn how to by just watching a you tube video what a joke. You know what the worst part is affiliated with insurance Co targeting that niche years people complaining of the same problem and still do not fix it.

I lost 100 pounds here I highly recommend coming here. They have a pool, a basketball court, and big gym with helpful trainers.

Run-down old facility that lacks many features other Y’s have. Much of what they do have still closed due to Covid or has limited hours (for instance, basketball courts are closed all day weekdays).Be smarter than me- before you give them your money, insist on touring the facility, and check what hours the things you want are actually available.

Filthy changing rooms with moldy shower curtains. And a lifeguard who isnt following the rules and making sure people are leaving the pool when their session is done leading to over crowding.
