I have had my skates sharpened here before without a problem, I got brand new LS5 Carbon blades for my Anniversary from my wife. I was already going to this rink so I decided to have my brand new Carbon blades sharpened here they haven't even seen the ice yet! THAT WAS A GIANT MISTAKE! GIANT! As soon as I brought them in I told him DO NOT hone these blades. He the proceeded to tell me that there is a different hone for these skates and that its made for carbon. I told him I don't think so, It says it on the package not to hone, but he convinced me that it was OK. Now for a shop that has been sharpening for like 50 years I believed him until I seen the blade of my first skate and my heart dropped. My brand new 109 dollar pair of blades had already had layers of the carbon removed. Because he wouldn't just not hone them like I asked him too in the first place. I then said to him I thought you said it won't remove the carbon? when I proceeded to show him he just gave me excuses like its fine, it happens and the hone was made for it.. He seen what I was talking about and seen it was taken off and no apology nothing. So honestly I just wanted to get my skates and get out I was pretty annoyed. After that he didn't touch my second blade with the hone and guess what it was just fine!! Its still black too!! I am never one to write a review like this but I will tell you this much if you have carbon blades don't bring them here EVER! Im gonna call Bauer and see if theres even anything they can do... its seriously wicked disappointing don't bring your carbon blades to this place.
