Bought an overpriced gas can and it’s been nothing but junk, leaks everywhere, so annoying. But the staff was alright when bought, so for that they get an extra star. But not happy over paying for a junk can, that I can’t return.

As you can see from the before and after pictures, the work done on my Hobie Pro Angler was amazing. I couldn't have asked for better. It looks brand new. I asked for this work to get done during a very busy part of the year and Elaine was able to accommodate me. Mike did an excellent job as you can see in the photos. I would highly recommend their products and services.

I can't see how they have a bad review. Great customer service and they have bailed me out 2x on hard to get parts.

Remember when local businesses provided real service to the customer? That is the essence of Megrews, brought to you by a family that I am guessing spends every day working at the shop. I bought a 20hp Tohatsu outboard from Megrew's last summer. Elaine and Mike were awesome to deal with. After expediting the sale of the motor to get it to me quickly, Elaine then called her contact at the DEM to help me register an out-of-state skiff with incorrect paperwork. Just yesterday, she found an out-of-stock Tohatsu part for me and is having it shipped from another dealer by the end of the week. If she is distracted or puts you on hold, it is because this is a small family business that attends to each customer as an individual. Every time I walk into the store, she is either on the computer or phone, locating hard-to-find parts, trading with other dealers for someone in need, or giving directions on how to rig a sailboat. Be patient and she will help you in turn. Her helper (don't know her name, sorry) is also great and worked hard to find me the right part. Mike works on the motors and outside for a reason. He was thorough and very knowledgeable last summer when showing me how to start and maintain the motor I'd bought but is extremely busy. Leave him alone so he can get the million and a half things done he is working on. As someone who also prefers the company of tools and inanimate objects to humans, I can empathize with Mike for leaving the selling to Elaine upstairs. Give Megrews a try with the understanding that it takes time to allow an expert to help you properly and you won't be disappointed.

My wife and I stopped by Megrews to look at boats. The owner saw we were looking around at boats. I walked through the inside of their store then the back of the building to locate someone to help. The owner was working on a boat motor and offered very little assistance. I will never buy anything from this business, its almost as if they do not want to sell boats. I guess one of the major benefits when you're the owner of a "Mom and Pop shop" is you can run your business how ever you want. We are Charlestown residence that try to buy local, but not in this case!

Bait and switch. Put $$ down on a boat, then they refused to sell it to me unless I bought additional items that nearly doubled the price (items I didn't need or want). Despite having the original price/payment in writing, I took a refund rather than arguing with these people. Very disappointing.Edit: Hours after posting this review, Megrew's boats called me and left a rambling voicemail about it. Yikes.

I LOVE Megrew’s. I cannot say enough positive things about Elaine. To those leaving negative reviews- I ask yourself to look inward and also recognize that we are not all perfect and have off days.Yes- my main Hobie dealer is in VA- but Elaine is always happy to help me out. Always looking to see what she can put together for me, see what is in stock in her shop. They have one of the best selections of Hobie product IN STORE!Did you have to wait seven months for a vessel? Are you STILL waiting for your order? Welcome to the current state of boat manufacturing. And it isn’t just Hobie. Every dealer is doing their best, they take orders on good faith, truly believing they can be fulfilled.Well done Megrew’s. My (Hobie) hats off to you

Pleasure to deal with! Second Hobie kayak purchase through them, and as always super accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. First kayak from several years ago had a hull warranty issue within the first few months of use (stuff happens, especially with a new model and at the time new camo color) and the issue was rectified by Megrews & Hobie with ease and well within the week so I could get back on the water. Zero issues since, and the boat has been used quite regularly 4-5 times a week from March - November. Second kayak, my upgrade to the newest outback model, was quick and easy and especially given the lack of availability of hobies across the country right now super stoked to grab it. Glad to have a great dealer the next town over!

Elaine is downright hostile beyond belief. Shady dealings here & a long list of what "the hell was that " issues? **Stay Away**

I have even purchased anything from Megrew’s and I’m already a life long customer! I called around after picking up an old Hobie 16, and thankfully Elaine answered the call. She explained she was working with some customers in the store, but would be happy to answer my questions ASAP. I called back and had a delightful experience. Elaine walked me through a few parts of my new boat and was as helpful as she could be. I’ll be purchasing all my parts from Megrews since they know how to treat people.

The short story (to be followed up later): I called to order a part. Elaine was very short with me right away (seems to be a common issue with reviews here) and kept interrupting me saying she had customers to attend to, even as I was trying to give her my credit card # to make a purchase. The part arrived and did not work. I called Elaine back and again right away she was short, rude and kept interrupting to the point where she wasn't even getting what I was trying to tell her. I finally was able to tell her the part didn't work. She then said there was a batch of parts that other customers also said didn't work and she would not take back the defective part. She said I had to go thru the manufacturers warrantee, while all along telling me she had customers she had to deal with (I don't count????). She was rude and frantic to the point of yelling at me on the phone. I called back and asked to speak to a owner and she said she was 1 of 2 owners. I calmly asked to speak with the other owner saying a owner would want to know if a customer was being treated bad. She said he was busy. I said it's a simple question can I speak to him yes or no? She then lied to the other owner saying I demanded to talk and would not take no for a answer. I herd her say I "demanded" which was a lie. The other owner got on the phone, yelled at me and left without hearing 1 word from me. Elaine then told me " he can be a hot head and he told me (Ellaine) to close the doors and the hell with the customers!" What???? I couldnt believe my ears. I had to go thru the manufacturer and it cost me $145 more for a upgrade because they didn't have the original part in stock. I'm filing a complaint with the Rhode Island attorney general's office of Consumer Affairs. If anyone has a similar situation I urge you to file similar complaints with the Rhode Island attorney general's office. Note that McGrews only answers positive reviews. Other reviews here reflect the same type of behavior. It would be nice if they at least would say they could have handled this one different, but no response from Megrews..... I don't write bad reviews unless I have a unusually bad encounter.

Called to see if they had certain kayak accessories in-stock. A frantic woman picked up the phone and told me “if I’m going to ask questions and take a lot of time call back later”. I then asked about the part I’m looking for and got a rude response. I’ve never been to this shop and I don’t plan on ever going. Not the way to treat a customer with a simple question.- I don’t like posting bad reviews, but I believe that lady deserves it!

Elaine was very rude from the beginning but I chose them anyways because they were recommended to me.. left a 5hp outboard boat motor for repairs in early March.. they said it’ll be ready in 2 weeks. I checked in several times and they always have a new excuse why it’s not done. It’s now 8/21 and still haven’t heard back. Very disappointed. Wasted my time and energy there.
