This clinic is nothing but a money grab. I made an appointment for my dog who had a very itchy ear. The office determined that she needed to update her rabies and distemper vaccines. After receiving these vaccines, the dogs spiraled into gastroenteritis, resulting in a hospital stay at Ocean State vet hospital. Ocean State was able to stabilize her relieve the diarrhea and vomiting and rehydrate her. After contacting this vet office repeatedly to speak to Dr. Hoffer, my calls have been ignored. The entire episode over a five day span cost nearly $2300. I brought a healthy two year-old dog to the clinic for an itchy ear and she ended up in the hospital. The advice I received for the itching was a diagnosis of allergies and that she should be given a quarter tablet of Benadryl. By the way, it didn’t help. I would not recommend this vet clinic and will not return.

I moved to RI from NYC with my elderly rescue cat and dog. It is so difficult to find a trustworthy vet. I discovered that the Atlantic Animal Hospital was the best choice for us. They’re honest compassionate, and they listen. They don’t rush you, and they’re organized. They care about you, but more so, what is best for your pet. They get back to me so quickly. We live on an island, and it isn’t easy to get to the vet. They deliver our meds right to the boat for us. They check in with you, too. When I was there for an appointment one day, an elderly gentleman was worried about bringing his cat to the vet twice daily for some treatment. I overheard Dr. Hoffer telling him that she would come to his house every night after work and give the cat its medicine for him. He wouldn’t have to travel.Thank you Atlantic Animal Hospital!

Beyond terrible! Cannot even help manage the most basic care. Never have appointments, woman staff is unprofessional on the phone and all they want is money and endless appointments. The dr is also never available and they aren’t that busy for being so bad. My advice: if you care about your dog or cat at all- RUN FAR FAR AWAY!!!! This vet should be out of practice. Sad

This place is awesome. Took my dog for staple removal from a past surgery (not theirs). They removed for free. They were so kind. Nice place. Clean.

It's all about the money! Atlantic Animal Hospital's priorities are first, to optimize revenue, and second, the convenience of the Doctor and her staff. The care of the pets is secondary, and the convenience of the pet owners. The most egregious case was when our dog was diagnosed with a later stage heart murmur, and was starting to have these extended and difficult coughing fits. They wanted us to do a Chest XRay and an echo-cardiogram. We did the XRay, and it showed that he had an enlarged heart. They "prescribed" over the counter cough medicine, which did nothing, and insisted that we then do the echo, which was over $500. I did some on line research and found that there was a very effective heart medicine that specifically helps dogs with enlarged hearts, and helps alleviate the symptoms like coughing with no material side effects. I also called my vet which we use in another location when we're there seasonally, and they said that this medicine was very safe and clearly helpful for a dog with an enlarged heart, and they would not see the need for an echo. I called Atlantic Animal Hospital and told them that, but they refused again. Finally, I called another local vet that we'd never seen before, and they told me the same thing. We brought our dog in, he was prescribed the medicine, and he's now much improved. They also prescribed a prescription cough medicine which is much more powerful than this over the counter stuff, but now we don't even need it because the other medicine is helping so much. It's very clear that the Atlantic Animal Hospital just wanted to sell a $500+ procedure, and if our dog's health suffered as a result, so be it. We now have moved both of our dogs to the other vet. Please avoid this Animal Hospital

They take the absolute best care of my fur babies. I don't know what I'd do without them.

My favorite vet of all time. Brian Lynch is the best vet. He takes his time with your pet and explains everything to you. All staff are friendly.

Absolutely Egregious/Terrible!!! The "Dr's" shouldn't even have their Licenses. It should be illegal to deny preventative care to an animal. Yet, we do here, then take a vacation and book 2 months out. 10+ years here, and lost two clients due to their severe lack of competence; yet it's "your fault". Vet Tech's are unprofessional, rude, would have a better conversation speaking to a wall. Especially, Jack who thought it would be a good idea to vaccinate like a clown. When the dog flinched to avoid, I almost got the needle in my shoulder. Throw in their holistic approach. . . Mine as well go to your bank, withdraw half a grand and light it on fire. You'd essentially be doing your beloved pet the same taking them here. Do yourself a favor, and take your pet elsewhere, anywhere, RUN!

This Animal Hospital is exactly what I was looking for! Everyone from setup to meeting the Doctor and then nail trimming were wonderful and caring. They are a distance from our home but beyond worth it. Their cohesiveness and genuine care for our sweet puppy and all the other animals I have seen them interact make us feel happy.

We had to say goodnight to our Indie on Monday. I took her to Atlantic Animal Hospital, the place she always went to feel better. We brought her to Ocean State emergency a week prior, and they were impressed with the records that Dr.Hoffher sent over. She takes extensive notes about every visit and I felt secure knowing everyone was upto date on Indie's history. Jack and Dr.Hoffher were always there to help when Indie needed her bi-monthly shots for her URI's.When we said goodnight on Monday it was in a quiet room with lots of privacy, they walked us through gracefully and gave us prints of her little nose and paws. I miss her so much. I'm happy to have AAH as a constant.Thr black hospital kitty came right in when Indie left and was rubbing against us, giving so many kisses, and sat on my lap purring. I think Indie made it over the rainbow Bridge okay

Misdiagnoses. This place does not take the necessary time to carefully diagnose and treat an animal in need.
