Came over after church to get some hinges for a screen door I just bought from a different Ace’s store. Waited in line for the counterperson: as I’m waiting in line, I am trying to access my account through the app but the store doesn’t provide any Wi-Fi so you have to walk back outside just to get into your app for your rewards and coupons so there’s a whole handful of us outside trying to get a signal looking ridiculous, then I finally make it up to the counter and I ask this kid if somebody could help me find the right hinges for the door. He just kind of stares at me then gets on the radio to have somebody meet me in the Hinge aisle where I waited a very long 10 minutes! I eventually found something myself went back to the counter to pay for it once again I couldn’t get into the app my rewards scan bar said he didn’t know how to scan it anyway and to get my phone number I proceeded to give him my phone number 6 times then he asked if he could just see my phone, but then I reminded him the store doesn’t have any Internet signal! When he finally got my rewards phone number entered correctly, I wanted to use my coupon but again same problem. I had to go back outside. I went back to the counter with my scan bar screen shot. He said he didn’t know how to scan and asked for the coupon number and I said I’m not doing that again. That should’ve taken five minutes I was there for half hour, and as I was walking out and older gentleman walked up and said is there anybody here who can help and got the same response as I did radioing to somebody and I said good luck I waited 15 minutes and wandered the store without any help. As I was walking out, I saw at least two workers in the parking lot talking to each other. I said that’s all the help is, the parking lot chatting!

My experience at Barrington Ace Hardware was utterly disappointing. Upon entering the store, I was greeted with indifference from the staff, setting the tone for the entire visit. When I inquired about purchasing a simple cardboard box, I was met with a dismissive response from an employee who claimed they didn't sell such items, despite my knowledge otherwise. It became evident that the staff lacked basic product knowledge and were uninterested in assisting customers. To add insult to injury, this encounter occurred just minutes before closing time, yet instead of accommodating my needs, the employee's unwillingness to help further exacerbated my frustration. It's evident that customer service is not a priority at Barrington Ace Hardware, and I would strongly advise anyone seeking assistance or basic items to look elsewhere.
