They now have self check outs. I am for self check outs but now when I am paying extra for the food these salaries to be covered in iga. IGA charges extra exactly for that reason because they have cashes and bagging. The audacity. They renovated so all the bio and natural stuff are in one section and they reaaranged the location of many things. Very expensive as you would expect form IGA except some local stuff and sales.
Update: they did some price reduction but not enough, absolute insanity for most things, I have no clue why people ever come here.

I like this store, BUT you CONSTANTLY get harassed starting at 9:50 pm when the store clearly says its open until 10:00 pm. The announcement comes on at 9:50 pm and then the security guard (who has his backpack and jacket on his back ready to go) comes to harras you even more - this was at 9:53 pm. He asked me if I was buying something, then I said, "don't I have 7 minutes left?" Then at 9:55 pm they say the store is closed and then the security guard again comes to harass you and then follow you throughout the store. Once I was in my car, it all made sense - they all want to LEAVE EARLY... I saw that same security guard out of the building before 10:00 pm (at 9:57 pm). So disgusting. I don't know what the problem is - the management or the employees, but they need to do better. :(((

Good news. I will perhaps try to return to the local IGA after more than 2 years of boycott. I will not fill 2 spice baskets full to maximum capacity with a single visit, but rather 2 visits at the rate of a grocery basket full to maximum capacity. Obviously I'm going to need the home delivery service. I'm trying to make a return to the local IGA just to meet my nutritional needs, nothing more. Even these days, I'm looking at the prices displayed at the local IGA of what I often buy on a regular basis, just to be up to date with the prices displayed, to avoid unpleasant and annoying surprises when paying for groceries before delivery.

?UPDATE: Well, it is 5 years later now. I am most happy to report that over the last few years I’ve given IGA a second chance to redeem itself. Having to use a cart vs entering the store with my shopping bags has become a non-issue. I signed-up for a Scene Card that allows for points to be accumulated. I am really using the app to take advantage of the weekly offers. I find that the app has changed the way that I buy my groceries. There are a couple of Level 3 {fast} bornes to charge EV’s {only thing, while convenient when shopping, the costs to charge are way too expensive=$30. in a half hour}. I used them for few months, but I have discovered Electric Circuit EV Charging Stations in the neighboured that are a Level 2 {~ 10 hours to go from 20% > 100%}. These are great for overnight charging while being $1. per hour… so about $11. vs $30. at IGA.
FOOD IS EVERYTHING rings true. I changed my review to ‘This IS the best run grocery store’ ??????????✅♻️?
Excellent fruit & vegetables, bakery, dairy, deli, health food, spirits and snacks. Parking area always has free space and speed bumps control traffic. Staff are eager to help when asked. This IS the best run grocery store that I've ever experienced in the neighbourhoods that I have lived, both in and out of MTL.
UPDATE: I HAVE HAD AN UNACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AT IGA.
I ENTERED THE STORE AS I DO TWO TIMES PER WEEK. I HAD MY GROCERY BAGS WITH ME AS I ALWAYS DO, WHEN I WAS APPROACHED AND TOLD TO LEAVE THE STORE DUE TO NO BAGS WERE ALLOWED. I PROTESTED TO THE THE SECURITY PERSON AND ASKED TO SEE HIS BOSS. HE TOLD ME THAT WAS NOT POSSIBLE. I WENT TO THE "COURTESY COUNTER" AND EXPLAINED MY SITUATION, THEY SAID IT WAS DUE THEFT AND THAT THEY WERE NOT ALLOWED TO SEARCH MY BAGS WHEN LEAVING THE STORE. THAT WAS A POOR ANSWER IN MY OPINION. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DO ANYTHING. THEY SAID THAT I MUST TAKE A GROCERY CARRIAGE AND ONLY BUY ITEMS IN THAT MANNER. I TOLD THEM THAT I SHOP AT THE LOCAL MAXI STORE AND THEY DO NOT INTIMIDATE AND PREVENT ME FROM SHOPPING AT THEIR GROCERY STORE. I LEFT IGA AND TOLD THEM THAT THEY HAVE LOST ME AS A CUSTOMER. MAXI HAS RECENTLY ADDED SELF SERVE CHECKOUT AND HAS IMPROVED ALL OF THEIR DEPARTMENT WITH EXCELLENT SALES AND SERVICE.

They refused to give me my 10$ or free item rebate on a purchase of 2 loaf of bread (scanned at 5,29$) on special at 8,25$ instead of 5,29 each. They did apply the special after i mentioned there was an error on the bill but didnt respect the law on the exactitude of prices. Manager was sara incident happened at 19h00 july 28.
