The last 3x I have made reservations for a vehicle they have waited till the day of and just a few hours if not the hour before to call and tell me that they have no vehicles available. This past time, I made my reservation 2 weeks in advance for them to call me this morning 3 hours prior to pick up to tell me that they have no cars available. I asked the "pleasant" lady that has called me each time how this continuously happens and why cant they give more of a notice. Her response "that's not my job to do" I don't even want to give this company one star because at this point it is so unprofessional and inconsiderate.

I would highly recommend you find another rental service. I made my reservation in the morning on the 26th which gave them enough time to let me know they would not have rentals available for me on the 27th. When I get there on the 27th the woman behind the desk turned me away with an attitude telling me there were no vehicles available which they had plenty in the parking lot. I think she just didn't want to do her job she tells me she canceled my reservation which I never received an email of this, so I asked for a confirmation number for the cancelation because I didn't want to be charged for anything. She basically didn't care at all giving a bunch of excuses and so I get charged 50 dollars a day later for being a no show. This woman obviously doesn't care about her job and if this is the type of employee Avis allows to represent them then they clearly don't care about their customers. Very disappointing.

This place needs some serious housecleaning.....Wow! The representative in question was dressed like someone who is at home, sick on the couch, and eating potato skins. This person didn't want to be bothered at all. Totally miserable. UNREAL!!! Do not go here people. It's a train wreck. Not to mention it wreaked of marijuana.

I never leave reviews but this one deserves it. I reserved a midsize SUV last February 3rd, the miserable woman at the front desk "upgraded" my reservation to a small compact car. She said they did not have SUVs available for my rental, she never bothered to call me days before to let me know they did not have SUVs available. She was very rude said that if we did not like the car we could just cancel and get full refund, we never got our refund. I think this is the worst company to rent a car with. Now Avis stole $118.42 from me just because they could not give me the type of car I reserved days before. All I can say is I am never renting with this company ever again and I wouldn't recommend it at all. Amazing how that very miserable front desk woman was no help. She was so rude, helpless, and had a very nasty attitude. All she cared was to eat her food.

And here is yet another company deserving of many negative stars. Absolutely the worst experience ever. From customer service to vehicle quality, there was nothing enjoyable. I came to the area for Christmas vacation and needed to rent a car for two weeks. The black woman behind the counter was by far one of the nastiest, meanest people I’ve ever met. She cared more for her 4” long fingernails than she did servicing a customer. The first car they gave me had a quarter sized hole in the front window. I guess in the summer this would be free a/c, but in the dreary, wet winter it was a nuisance. The inside of the vehicle was filled with trash, looking like some hobo was living in it; it smelled foul, due to empty fast food containers and cigarettes. The shift knob popped right off when I went to put the vehicle in gear.I called to complain about the condition of the car and request a more suitable replacement, and the same woman that was so pleasant to be around the first time told me it was my problem and to deal with it. I called Avis headquarters customer service and they apologized and said they would take care of me. They ordered another car from the Baltimore area and shipped it to my house. Thinking the situation couldn’t get worse, the replacement car was also filled with trash and the ashtray and cup holders had spent marijuana joints in them. I called the police to report this, in case I got pulled over. Later I reported it to Avis and again was told, it’s my problem, not theirs.So, I decided to take the car back a few days early as I’d rather walk uphill, barefoot, on parking lot glass than deal with the condition of Avis’ products. For the third time, the same lady, was nasty and mean. Bottom-line…I will be reporting Avis of York, PA to the BBB. I will also NEVER use them again, moreover, I’ll tell all of my friends and family about my horrible experience with them. Don’t waste your time with this company; their professionalism is non-existent, and the quality of their vehicles is reminiscent of a junk yard.

Where is our money?! Paid for a car rental but before we paid for it, we made sure that we could get a refund if we didn't need the vehicle, canceled in ample time. we have not seen our money. This was back in September. I will now be calling our bank to dispute this fraudulent transaction. it's been months of back-and-forth.

Listen if I can give this location no stars I would. The girl at the front desk yes I said girl she is very rude, nasty attitude, unprofessional and don’t know how to talk to customers. I see the past reviews are saying the same thing how many times do your customers have to let you know this before letting that person go. When I arrived she already had an attitude problem when conducting business she had an attitude problem when I’m asking questions she responding in a smart tone. I returned the car on my specific return date I received an email receipt with all these charges saying I had the car until the following day. I reached out to Avis 800 number spoke with a lady she said she can see that my date has been changed and did I call in for an extension I said no. It was the reservations department that tried to help but could not and advised me to call back because customer service was closed. This was definitely intentionally because of the back and fourth be sure if you rent from this place take plenty of pictures. I had a feeling she was going try some shady stuff either with the car, gas or prices having me be charged extra but I have pictures. Yes I’m talking about the unprofessional lady at the front with the big glasses. I will go to the extreme about this with the fraudulent changes and charges.

Horrible customer service. I can assure you the reviews are spot on. I haven’t even stepped foot in the place and had a bad experience. After over a week I finally got someone at this location on the phone to confirm they will accept Avis gift cards and the lady who answered was rude, acted like she couldn’t care less and in no way made any effort to even try to me help out. All she did was shoot me down saying this location doesn’t accept gift cards….gift cards that are literally from Avis. It makes no sense an Avis location wouldn’t accept an Avis gift card. Reservation canceled, probably saved myself much headache.

I called and confirmed it would be okay for a hypo-allergenic service dog to be in the vehicle without charges, prior to renting. Upon returning the vehicle the lady at the counter was very rude, and charged me for a cleaning fee, telling me I should have been considerate of other people’s allergies. AFTER telling me I had to go get the car detailed prior to returning it. At least the representative that gave us the vehicle was nice, despite being at work in just a sports bra and shorts with her kid in the back room. Not to mention the car had less than 25% oil life. Never again.

I rented a car to drive from Pennsylvania to Indiana. The car I received was old, has a bad tire, no washer fluid and has an engine noise that causes a hum. 9 hours of worrying that the car would stop or blow out a tire wasn’t a great feeling.

I want to first thank the workers for providing a service to the community. Now I want to let the ownership know that this location needs a complete make over! It’s not up to AVIS standard I’m used to seeing. I hope to see some improvement before years end. This is disgraceful! If this is a franchise owner , I hope you get it together before Avis comes out for inspection. Again it’s not the workers at all. The atmosphere just feels grimey. For example they got a sign the says “we don’t swipe credits cards twice “ , and a few other anti fraud rules. I get it, but those that are serious about business it comes off offensive.

This is more of a corporate complaint than a site specific complaint. Set reservation up online took all my information and CC to process. Everything went through and then directed me to pre-check in for easy pick-up. An hour later i get a call from the location they would not have vehicle to fulfill my request. I then ask about refunding my $. The response was if i wanted a refund to call the "1-800" # and request it. Which i did, and they said it would take 3-5 buisness days to refund to my card. This makes no sense,and to me is deceit and borderline fraud. Why would you charge someone and not know for sure you had the product available. Then after talking to several people was told " you are just gonna have to wait". So here i am charged to rent a car i never had access to, then wait 3-5 buisness days, still need a rental, so have to rent from someone else who is gonna charge me. Why can you instantly take my money but it takes that long to refund it when it wasn't my fault. Awful way to treat a customer.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE!!!Worst experience ever and renting a vehicle. Completely incompetent and unprofessional. Rented a vehicle online in advance, received numerous confirmation texts and emails from Avis. When I arrived to pick up the car, a female clerk strutted out from the back with a huge attitude. first said she didn’t have a reservation. Then changed her story that someone from there ‘called me to cancel’ the reservation. Wouldn’t give me a name of who tried to call me to cancel, told me she didn’t have to give me that info and instructed me to leave the premises. I phoned Avis’ corporate # while there, and was informed that there definitely was a vehicle available there and showed no indication that the reservation was canceled. The same style/size vehicle that I had rented could clearly be seen sitting in the lot, but the clerk said it was “reserved for someone else “. Which was reserved for me yet she took it upon herself to reserve it for someone else. Can’t believe this location is still in business. Only giving one star because 0 stars is not an option.
