When we walked in the waitress seated us and I asked for a more quiet table, she rolled her eyes and went over to the other girl and was making comments about us, the place was freezing, there were so many different people doing all different chores, they don’t even have a bartender, the ladies were making the drinks so that is where they were focused.\\nWe put our order in and when the food came, it was terrible, chicken franchese loaded with fresh garlic, the lemon sauce was like thick gravy, ugh, some kind of boiled potatoes, horrible!\\nThis place has no management, just some ladies walking all around the place!\\nNo one came back to see how the food was and I had to raise my hand for someone to come!\\nWe spent over $100 for 2!\\nI also saw the table behind us complaining, burned fries, too much mayo in the cole slaw, the waitress did nothing for them just smirked!\\nI would never go back there, what a disappointment!\\n\\nAnd zero customer service! Waste of money!

Food portions are huge, nice variety on the menu, just a few issues. Salad was tasty, although the croutons were hard as rocks, really, very hard. My roasted potatoes were also hard, they were under cooked. The chicken francese was perfect. My vegetable was given to my fellow diner, and I got hers so we switched them. The waitress was hard to find at times. One of my fellow diners got dessert, the tiramisu, it was partly frozen. Once it defrosted, it was wonderful. The building is the old grocery store, it is a hidden gem. Really was a nice atmosphere. All they need to do is be more careful, they have the potential to be better.

A large group that frequently dines out together gave this restaurant a try. Nothing really bad, nothing really great. They have daily specials. There were drink martini specials which a few in the group had, but they weren't really worth it. I think someone had a lemon one a chocolate one and an apple one. All agreed they were too sweet, being mostly syrups of some sort and very little alcohol. Some people had cabernet and everyone thought it was quite good and very much enjoyed, Some in our group had raw oysters that were on special. They were a bit on the small side and a little more than other places ($1.50 each, vs. $1.00) each, HOWEVER, they were beautifully presented and they added a nice touch of extremely finely diced celery to the oyster. Loved them. On the food, everyone commented the bread was a bit stale and too hard to eat, I dunno, didn't eat bread. There was a variety of orders, from calamari, eggplant parmesan, Salman Oscar, chicken parmesan. Most were satisfied with their dinner, except one diner who is rarely satisfied with anything, so we sort of don't count her opinion, but most were satisfied with their dinners. Comments included that the chicken was a bit overcooked and temperature of the pasta could have been hotter. Our service wasn't the best. The servers were friendly enough, but didn't clear dirty dishes, leaving many in the way, much too long. This place has a good location, well known name and a lot going for them. I would like to see a few changes made that would truly make this place flourish over the top. For example, the owners should try a dinner out at Amici's in Berwick. Amici's prices are from the 1980's, ridiculously low for home made pasta dishes and they are BYOB! Malacari's could either do something like that, serve smaller portions AND allow their wine to be sold for the price they sell it at the produce store up the street. Folks would buy the wine by the bottle for the table. That would be a nice inexpensive touch. OR, conversely, some of the Italian restaurants we have been at in the areas (such as Amadeo's) in Moosic, give folks a ridiculously large portion of pasta. I mean, we all know how much the cost of goods of pasta is. The seniors LOVE this. They generally take home enough for their week. Just another recommendation. Also, our group is NOT a fan of restaurants starting to charge their cost of doing business, using credit cards, passing that fee onto the customers. If this is a business expense, it should be built into the pricing. Like many other restaurants, they also add on a "service charge" when serving a party of 6 or more. This, I could never understand. I have 2 family members that have been in the restaurant business for years , they even THRIVED during Covid, and have never done this. I mean, is it really harder to serve one table of 6 rather than three tables of 2? So, because of these issues our group decided that we were all happy tottery this place, but likely will not take the large group there again. There are times when the entire group cannot gather, so we might return with 4 or 5 of us and all will bring cash, but we will likely continue on to some tried and true place we like that don't have the additional "hidden" fees and have restauranteering down to a science. Best of luck to Malacari's in the future, there is room for improvement.
