My wife and I adopted two cats from there in November and plan on adding another member to our family on Friday. They really take great care of animals and will always adopt from there if we can.

Even though I didn't adopt an animal from this shelter, I was incredibly impressed by the care and dedication shown by the staff. Upon visiting, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere, and it was evident that the animals were well cared for and loved. I appreciate the transparency in their adoption process and the effort they put into finding the perfect homes for their animals. Keep up the fantastic work, and I'll definitely recommend this shelter to anyone looking to adopt a furry friend in the future!

I inquired about Lydia close to 5pm. They close @ 7pm. And IMMEDIATELY they started calling references to get my application going. I made an appointment two days later to meet her @ open time, hoping I could bring her right home if she was a good fit. I brought money & my carrier not knowing what to expect. I arrive & she said Lydia is mine to take if I like her!I already LOVE HER! It’s been 22 hours and I couldn’t be happier. She fits right in with my daddy cat! My Missy is a few months older & taking her time watching Lydia but overall no issues! She’s house trained, cuddly (She slept with me, my boyfriend, & cuddled with meatball! Missy went upstairs for some spoiling from my boyfriend’s parents & is back downstairs with all of us & they’re all playing! I’m very happy with the process & end result.I stopped to visit the cats before Lydia came home & if you can, adopt the white older female cat. She was sooo sweet & deserves a home! The big daddy cats were awesome to meet as well.Just thank you so much!

I found an adorable cat on their website, but thought it might be impossible to adopt from them since I’m out of state (2+hours away). Instead, they worked quickly and efficiently in allowing me to bring this little beauty home! Now to give her the perfect name!

The staff was kind- seemed unorganized though; however, I had an appointment to visit a kitten and was confirmed that no one else can visit her until after we visited since we inquired first. I got a call less than 2 hours before our appointment saying that the kitten was sold. I understand that these animals need homes, but other shelters I have supported do not go about their adoption process that way. Also the kitten is still active on pet finder, so I am not 100% certain of what actually happened

Small no-kill shelter. It's got a special place in my heart because that's where I met my wife after I got hit by a car. The food could be better (kibble every day gets old and hurts my teeth). Wet cat food donations are always welcome.

Very caring and professional staff. We have gotten several kitties from them and complete vetting with all of their animals fixing and shots. We have just adopted two kitten sisters and they are a wonderful addition to our family

White Oak Safe Haven has helped me immensely on my cat rescue journey. Mackenzie in particular is incredibly helpful, loving and kind, going above and beyond to save animals. I volunteer in TNR in order to control the pet population in my community and White Oak has gifted me a free neuter and helped me find homes for two friendly cats I trapped. I also foster a semi-feral cat for them and they're so amazing to foster for. I love this organization so much.

Long story: a cautionary one:Just over a year ago, I adopted an older cat from them. Although I was told I'd be adopting the cat I initially saw, for whatever reason she wasn't available, so I had to choose another - who I'm glad happened that way Fast forward to 2 weeks ago I decided my girl could probably benefit from a companion, and their Facebook page recently posted about the need for senior cats to be given a chance at a forever home. When I went in, there weren't any senior cats even available. Fine, the idea is to give an animal in need a home. I was offered a 3 year old who was a bit timid, but still let me approach and pet him. I brought him him home 2 weeks ago today. My only "instructions" were, "he got in the carrier, he just doesn't want to be here", and "the cats will fight at first that's normal".After a day of him hiding under my recliner, at 130 am he must have ventured out because I awoke to a territory battle and 2 cats running in opposite directions.. Google sites showed these cats should have been separated a minimum 2 weeks. Did that, but would have been nice to know. I called them after a week of him hiding and not allowing me to approach him (now hiding under my futon) and got a return call prior to closing-because when I called back 10 minutes later they were already gone. Decided to give it a few more days because the message said bringing him back could be "traumatic" for him. Calling after a few more days as he seemed to grow more scared, the first person only repeated they weren't there or involved with my adoption. I said I felt bad for the cat and concerned but I'd never just give up and turn an animal loose without bringing him back if no progress is made. An hour later I get a nasty call demanding I return the cat "tomorrow" because I said I was letting him outside?! First off I NEVER said or threatened that and was using an example of how no matter what, my concern was getting this guy adjusted, and maybe they could have been more educational in helping at the onset. Secondly to lie about what I said when obviously my multiple calls showed my care in helping this cat, couldn't have been more obvious. Third and most frustrating is my designation of that shelter for prior Facebook donations, but then basically be accused of being cruel to an animal? As many reviews have already stated, the are 1st and foremost RUDE, and as I told them, seem to fly by the seat of their pants. This cat clearly should be in a single cat household because yesterday I found him somehow downstairs now behind my refrigerator. His knowledge of even the presence of another cat is clearly terrifying him. And he does not allow any human contact even when treats are attempted. His backstory of just being from a hoarder doesn't jive with his behavior and makes me wonder if there is much more to his past. It pains me to have to even reach back out to them about bringing him back, but I refuse to make him any more uncomfortable here, or have him try and hide somewhere that could cause further issues for him. Long story short (too late I know), is: for you potentially forever homes-SEARCH ELSEWHERE - There are plenty of animals looking for homes, at reputable shelters, and you should find a staff just as caring to humans as they claim to be with animals. I have been parent to enough cats during my life to know when something isn't right, as have others I've discussed this with, and never had a situation like this before. Find people who are knowledgeable about your new pet's unique situation. They have the worst reviews of all local shelters, so I'm comforted knowing I'm not having a unique experience. They are also refusing to refund any of the $75 I paid, & admitted they will again charge anyone else who may adopt him, which has to be a SCAM. I only wish I could redirect my previous fundraising to a more deserving shelter, and that this guy would have worked out with what would have been a

I called to get information to get my mom's cat fixed and everyone in the office was so nice and kept me and my mom updated on everything we need to do. They explained the whole process and I completely feel comfortable about asking them about anything we need. I have never had a better experience when it comes to the animals I would recommend this place for any of your animals needs every time. Thank you for being understanding and keeping us informed with everything we needed to do.

Met a lovely kitten and applied to adopt. Was told I would hear back within 2-3 business days. 5 business days later I call back myself to find out the kitten was given to someone else. Would have really appreciated a follow-up even though the answer was sad because I wanted to hear back before applying anywhere else. Have to pay the landlord pet rent even though there's no cat yet and every day without one is money wasted.
