It's a hidden place in the mountains. There's even a beach there. I'll put it in my bucket list of places to return to.

Located north of Jim Thorpe, PA. No park fee. Head to Visitors Center first. Get a lay of the land and decide how to tackle what you want to do. We decided to do several shorter hikes. First, we drove further on Rt 54 to Skyline trail and found a picturesque view of the Lehigh River Gorge. Next, we backtracked to the turnoff to Boulder Field. We stopped enroute to see Hickory Run Lake. Very lovely setting. Then on to Boulder Field where we learned how an advancing giant glacier during the Ice Age created this amazing field of boulders. After venturing out onto these precarious rocks we headed back to the VC. After a snack we walked a beautiful trail called Shades of Dead, which is to the left of the building. We chose to shirten the hike by turning around at the second pond. Final stop was on our way out of the park at the Hawk Falls. Another great trail with a great destination. The falls and river setting was very nice. Hickory Run SP is a wonderful place to spend a day in the beauty of nature.Restrooms: Found at the Visitors Center.

Really pretty park, but very busy and a bit difficult to navigate. Some awesome scenery and the visitor center is great! Went to the Boulder field and a couple other spots. Huge park with many hiking trails and other things to see. Would recommend going on a weekday if you want to find parking at the falls trail. We only visited the park today.

We started our walk on the Shades of Death trail to the waterfall. It was gorgeous ?. Kept going till we got to a stone staircase that went uo to a small Boulder field. Turned around. Maybe 2 hour walk? So pretty. Def go!

This is by far one of Pennsylvania's hidden gems! 16,000 acres, 40 miles of hiking throughout the park, natural wonders to behold, an awesome Visitor Center and Exhibit Hall, and a wonderful, caring staff. This is a must-visit place, put it on your list.

Really nice park. Has everything. Camping, hiking, a lake for swimming in the summer, an 18 basket disc golf course, fishing. Plus the Boulder field and some nice surprises on some of the trails.

Very large park with great hikes to wonderful sites. The park itself gets 5 stars. The campground gets 3 because it is close to the park road, a bath house was being constructed and work with heavy equipment started at 7am even though quiet time was supposed to be until 8am, and the website for the campground and some sites contain incorrect information about the features of sites and the dump station closure date. Beautiful flora- Rhododendron and mountain laurel everywhere on the trails.

Great park, I love walking my dogs on the trails here (leashed of course). The only criticism I have is the state of the maintenance department. No fault to the workers, they're all great in my experience. I just don't know why they always seemed to be packed into old trucks and lacking the equipment needed to keep the park clean and the trails clear. C'mon PA, this is what I pay taxes for!

Fantastic place to camp. The woodlands are spectacular. And a great beach/lakes and trails. Friendly park rangers. Fall camping is so much fun here.

This turned out to be one of the nicest state parks I’ve been to. I spent two nights here on the way home from New Hampshire. Very woodsy, cool, shady. The visitor center is fantastic. Make sure you take a few minutes to go look around in there. If you love tent camping, you will like this campground. I will be returning!
