This is the worst hospital I've ever been to. I can't imagine that the residence of reading does not have an alternate option. My brother was had a stroke on the highway and was transferred to Reading hospital for care. Immediately following surgery, the surgeon stated " BE PREPARED FOR THE WORST". Thankfully my brother is still alive. Anyhow, most of the nurses were very incompetent. I asked a nurse if she can suction my brother's tach and she responded, "I JUST SUCTIONED HIM AN HOUR AGO". not to mention my brother had pneumonia 3 times under their care. They wouldn't even provide basic care such as washing his face. Many times I visited and found him with dried up mucus on his chest. We were not always informed about the changes in his health. He had a different doctor every other day. He seemed like an actual experiment. My brother was in obvious distress right before his last surgery with all his vital signs elevated and the PA spoke to us from outside the room door stating "HE'S OKAY, WE'RE NOT GOING TO DO NOTHING FOR HIM". He was ultimately transferred to a long term facility with stage 3 bed sores after we were told he had none. I wouldn't bring a dog to this hospital for help. However, there were a few wonderful caring staff but overall, the care they provided to my brother was far below what was expected by a hospital. Just to mention a few...

I had a good experience. Everyone wants to know that you are comfortable. I like knowing what's happening all the time.Very informative about what procedures are for you. Also, making sure I understand those procedures. No one really wants a hospital visit. But, if you can't do without one. My opinion is Reading Hospital is the best. Their fantastic doctors literally saved my life!!

Both the medical and support staff have been extremely professional and friendly. This is my third time giving birth here. This time our son needed a week in the NICU. Everyone, even the cafeteria staff, have been helpful and friendly. Hospitals are not comfortable places but the staff have been great.

I had severe pains around my body. I have pretty high tolerance with pain, so after the pain didn't go away after several days I chose to go to the emergency room (which I rarely choose to do because of my past experiences at this place). After an examination, I was told I was suffering from constipation. I didn't believe that being I had a bowel movement before arriving there. I was discharged but, found myself in the ER the following day and was told again that it was the constipation. Once I got home my mother told me it was shingles. I saw my PCP the following week and she confirmed that it was shingles.I can't comprehend how the employees of a emergency room can't diagnose a person properly after two consecutive visits. That's just the tip of the iceberg with my experiences with this place.

To wait 8 hours in ER is worst then what happens in third world countries.your excuse is it’s busy and few doctors. Get the heck outta here

Our ER doctor tonight was hideously slow. He had 0 sense of urgency. While our stay was only 5 hours it was still much longer than needed. I would assume this doctor is paid by the hour since he really milks the time away.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Dont waste your time with this ER. They were quick to get me back and took 5 mins to tell me I'm fine with no testing done. ?

i went to the ER with severe pain in my head. It was bad enough to have been admitted for 3 days for tests. I went 12 hours with no medicine. I asked the nurse for something for the headache and he told me hed get it right away. A half hour later a doctor came to see me and told me the same. Now mind you we arent talking about narcotics or controlled substances. We were talking about tylenol with caffeine. 3 hours later im squeezing a pillow around my head while the guy i shared a room with asked his nurses to follow up for me. after 4 hours of asking for tylenol or excedrin, i finally told them to remove my tubes. one of the staff told me " i dont blame you for leaving" and another told me "theres a pharmacy downstairs". Imagine going to a really really really expensive restaurant and your waitress points and says "theres the kitchen". I sure hope i just had one really terrible nurse today but something tells me by the responses i got by other staff.... This place just flat out dont care. I didnt want to post a public complaint like this but my 2 emails never got a response. That being said, im pretty sure its not just a nurse that doesnt care. Its a culture. I feel bad for syaing this because i did have some incredible nurses and staff in my 3 days but that means nothing. 2 or 3 uncaring staff members car ruin en entire expeprience. I left without being discharged and i assure you that i will never go back and i will tell everyone i discuss hospitals with what happened. I will drive an extra half hour if any of my children ever need to be hospitalized in the future but im quite sure Tower will not care in the slightest so long as their profits dont suffer
