My husband and I came to Berks Tax & Business Services because it was recommended. We didn’t feel that our return would be too complicated; however, we had nothing but issues the entire process. After coming in February and meeting with one of their employees, we later learned that she apparently didn’t complete some of our information initially correctly. Looking back, she did seem very confused during our meeting, but had reassured us that everything was fine. We didn’t find out until weeks later of course when we got notice from the government, that there were issues. After trying to contact Berks Tax several times, we finally heard back from the woman who had filed for us and she told us to call the state tax department ourselves to figure it out. After that, the owner (finally) stepped in after weeks of my husband trying to call and get it handled because there were issues that continued at every step after that. The owner continued inconsistently communicating on the process and we couldn’t get a clear answer from him on what was being done. At a certain point, my husband could never get ahold of him, because he was either out of the office or not available/returning his calls. After months of going through this and my husband not hearing back, I stepped in and started contacting the owner as well when finally we started receiving communication (he never would return my husbands calls). We filed an adjustment after that point and yet again there were mistakes and issues not caught during that process, creating more problems and delays. It made me realize that he probably never really looked into why these problems started in the beginning, because the issue that ended up being the problem could have easily been solved by actually reading our information/file that we had submitted. After receiving a third adjustment, I ended up handling most of the issues in the end because he proved time and time again to be very difficult to do business with and couldn’t seem to get the process right. That was August when I finally got it handled. I would like to reiterate and highlight the fact that this took from February - August to figure out. Overall, it was very frustrating to say the least and I would not recommend this business.

There is a wide range of appointment scheduling to meet time constraint need of the customer.Taxes are processed promptly and accurately.It is a pleasure to do business.

I agree with Douglas D. The old owners knew their stuff. Very unprofessional now. Charged me twice as much as the last time I had them do them, only 2 years ago. Said they left a message to sign for them, but never received it. Will not be using them in the future!!!

We used berks tax and business for the first and last time for our 2013 tax return. We only used them because they bought out Buckwalter Accounting in lancaster which had been our previous accountant and as part of the deal, we would not be able to use buckwalters services for 3 years. (buckwalter is still operating as semi retired) They did rushed the return and even after a review missed some items that cost me to battle trying to get my return back. After contacting several times for help i would get no where and they never seemed available to drop off or pick up documents and gave one liners. Very unprofessional in my opinion lazy business. I had enough and made all the calls myself to get situation fixed and my return after 8 months. I will be contacting buckwalter or another firm from now on

Used to be great... better off elsewhere now. Had a great experience 3 years ago, then the owner retired. New management is *significantly* weaker in skill and service. Made serious mistakes that brought on an audit, and couldn't get even small details right in the audit response. (Like, say, my name.) I spent hours reviewing my last tax return myself to make corrections, and then started wondering why I was paying them to do it. Not usually a negative guy, but really -- look elsewhere for skill and service.
