I found a small kitten in my neighborhood during a heat wave. I brought her in my home. Soon enough, it was obvious she was going to need more care than I could provide as I’d recently been laid off. This was my first visit to this site and no one was available in the office or phone. I ran into a staff member who looked at her pics and said she was sick and likely be euthanized. As she seemed to get worse, I contacted a few other agencies who gave tips, said they thought they were “no-kill” and animals must be assisted in the area they are found. I made a 2nd trip here and found the complete flip. Office staff were available and extremely helpful. More impressive, they were extremely knowledgeable and knew exactly what was wrong with her and what she needed. 2 weeks later she’s filled with energy, speeding around playing and well on her way to adoptability. Very grateful to the staff who helped her and it’s unfortunate how one bad apple can change your view of a company especially for those who work very hard to help these animals.

Loving and caring protector of animals. Two years ago, we rescued the cutest orange tabby from Antietam. The best decision we ever made.

Does a wonderful job at not only helping animals in need find a home and a safe place to be in, but they also help the community. The Atietam Humane Society offers Spay/Neutering to help with pet overpopulation and rabies shots clinics.
I play the Treat app game on my phone and sent treats to my Treat dog Homer who resides there (hope the old guy finds a good home soon), a really fun and feel God thing to do!

Beware!!! Adopted a dog that said was good with other dogs, sweet, cuddley, etc.. Welk, dog viciously attacked our neighbors larger dog and caused over $1700 in injuries. That dog attacked like a fighting dog and ER Vet said samething due to area/type if injuries.

We saw a cat that had been hit by car and was in really, really bad shape. We called Antietam Humane Society and they said to bring the cat in and they would assess it. Unfortunately, he was too bad off and they humanely euthanized the cat to end its suffering. I'm thankful for this humane society for helping out, we couldn't leave the cat on the sidewalk to freeze after getting struck by a vehicle. There were so many super friendly cats running around. I'll definitely be coming back to get a kitty once we move and can finally have pets! Thanks AHS for the kind work that you do to care for animals.

Absolutely wonderful staff. Can't be thankful enough for their services. If you're able to donate, please check out their website for a list of important needs. AFS Insurance was able to make a nice donation last week and had a lot of fun doing it!
