“For years, I have always looked for reviews on tires at Tire Rack, and then bought them locally at West. Get my cars inspected there, tires rotated, oil changes, etc. and never, ever had a problem in +30 years. This past year I went to get my snow tires there. The tires I wanted cost around $200 each and had great reviews. The girl told me that I could not go down speed a speed rating and had to get snow tires that were V (149 mph), W (168 mph), or Y (186 mph) rated. I had never heard of this before when buying snow tires, but figured they were the experts.

Well, there aren't many Snow Tires rated for +149 mph and the ones that they recommended were $450 each. I found a set that was $335 each but had almost no reviews that they ended up putting on my car (Tesla Model 3). Found out this summer that in PA you are allowed to use snow tires with a Q (99 mph) or H (130 mph, most common) rating on cars, even if the car is capable of a higher speed. In fact, the tires with Q or H ratings perform much better in the snow because they are softer. So now I have a set of Snow Tires cost me an extra +$540, that I can drive 149 mph on in the winter, but that don't perform that great in snow.

Update: The owner reached out to me and explained that they do this because of the litigious nature of today’s society. They don’t want to risk being sued for putting on a lower speed rated tire, even if it is a snow tire. I can respect that, but for snow tires I’ll stay within legal limits without going overboard on the costs. I'll keep using West....my wife is going there next week for inspection/emissions.”

Scott, his son Sean and the crew are the best in the business. I know when I need my big truck tires done and done right I know they will hammer them out as fast as they can and know I don’t need to worry about them because they are done right. Drives and steers. They literally work like a pit crew. They have came to the rescue twice for me once in Morgantown and once in Farmington Wv. Considering the distance and the wait, it was fast. When they show up I know I’m in the best hands I could possibly be in.

“I stopped on my lunch break today nice lady at counter said about 20 mins, at 20 mins I ask how much longer and she said go ahead in pull in bay, when I got out of car gentleman was still working on 2 tires, waited about 10 mins. I told gentleman I had to leave to get back to work, he states I didn’t wait that long, I told him I will return at 4:00. He mumbled something and I got in my car and left. When I got back at 4:00. Explained why I had to leave earlier, advised him the man earlier in the day was upset about something. the man n lady at counter was very nice. When I got ready to pay they said there was no charge because of what I experienced earlier and the day. The young man that fixed my tire was very nice and told me to have a great day. What started off as a bad experience turned out with a happy ending.”

“I've started coming to the Washington Sams for gas and curbside pickup. The gas station is away from the parking lot which greatly reduces the hectic driving of the parking space seekers. The curbside experience has also been very good. They have consistently been able to fill each item on my order.”

“I think this place is more trust worthy than any of the other shops and dealers in this area. It’s so hard to trust that anyone is being honest and not trying to exploit me every time I walk through the door. But everyone is pleasant and respectful of the customers. I’ve even heard them deal with some pretty difficult people and still they remained respectful and helpful. They don’t try to hard sell services that don’t really need to be done or that I’m not ready to do. Prices may be higher than in some other places but they have skilled people doing the work so I know when I leave my car is safe and working the way it should.”
