My husband and I were delighted with our entire experience at Paws Along the River. Karen, Pauline and the entire staff went above and beyond at every step of the way as we adopted two year old Border Collie, Odie. Their process is thorough and gave us high confidence as we moved toward full adoption. We were told Odie would be good with cats and kids and we quickly found that to be 100% accurate. Can’t say enough about Paws Along the River. We traveled quite a distance to adopt Odie and would do it again in a heartbeat. Definitely a 5 star experience from beginning to end.

We are very happy with our first experience with Paws. The interview process and meet and greet are similar to those experienced with past adoptions and give confidence to us that Paws wants to make sure their pets go to the right home. We did not expect them to delivery Duke to us on adoption day but they wanted to make sure everything went smooth showing that they go above and beyond to make sure the pets go to a good home. We would highly recommend Paws to friends and family for all future pet adoptions.

The owner is a real piece of work. Will go to the court house and cry to court collections about how the shelter is struggling financially. That sounds like a YOU problem. Maybe if you started allowing people to actually adopt animals out, you wouldn’t be struggling financially. It’s mind blowing that hardly anyone possesses problem solving skills anymore now a days. It’s not anyone’s responsibility but your own to make sure that if you are struggling financially that you resolve your financial struggles. The way the owner acted made it seem as if she just runs the shelter and is in it for the money, not the animals best interest. Inquiring about how she could get people fined with more restitution, who have had animals seized by the police when the police arrested them. My eyes have been opened wide as to why she has some of the most ridiculous requirements when it comes to adopting a pet from HER shelter and it’s because she’s MONEY hungry, just like 75% of the population of Warren. Do Better Kim.

I’d like to thank the staff for the wonderful help they gave me for picking my new friend. Georgia is an absolute delight to have. She is funny, playful, loyal. She is enjoying her new home.

After our Jack Russell, Oskar, crossed the Rainbow Bridge, we never expected to find another one waiting for us at Paws Along the River! The amount of time everyone took to get to know us and for us to get to know Sheldon was exceptional! It shows how much they care for their animals! The conversations, the phone calls, the meet and greets, the walks and “foster time” it took to make sure we all were a right fit for one another, makes Paws Along the River one of the best shelters I’ve ever worked with! I can’t say enough about the entire staff and all the accommodations they made for us to make the adoption process a successful one. Also, Sheldon came home with all essential things he needed to have his first days at his “furever”home be the most comfortable! Thank you Paws Along the River for making our home complete again with the addition of Sheldon! We LOVE him so much! ??

Would be nice if Paws would have Found Lost Pets section of their website to help allow people looking for their pets a resource to go to help ease the anxiety and allowing people to know that their pet is safe and sound.Thank youI will reedit this review to 5 star if this service can be offered

I had an outstanding adoption experience at PAWS. Their careful and patient attention in matching me with Emma (aka Sasha) resulted in the perfect match for me. Karen and Michelle were professional, kind, thorough, always available and go the extra mile .. (quite literally, as Karen drove 2 hours to deliver my new best friend. ) I want to thank PAWS for its excellent service and commitment.

These seem like well meaning folks, my only criticism is that their advice (your dog will run away if you call it, etc, after 36h missing) led me to spend a few days trying to capture a coyote on trail camera. My dog was actually a few miles away it turned out, and came right up when she heard my voice.I'm not saying this behavior isn't true for some dogs, but for many I have read now that it takes longer than 36 hours -- and I should have been able to deduce my dog would likely take longer because of some personality traits. But the person on the phone said it with such conviction, and I was a little too worried to think clearly about it. (But again I'm sure they meant the best, I'm mostly leaving this review in the hopes they'll update their advice)

We just completed Dog Obedience Training with Donna and it was great. The course is once a week for 6 weeks and we are taking a lot home with us for continued training with our dogs. I highly recommend this class.

I adopted my two dogs Hector and Dapper from PAWS. I started as a volunteer dog walker, I had retired and always was a animal lover and decided to take the classes. I fell in love with these two boys and adopted them. My experience as a volunteer/adopter and dog walker has been positive and rewarding. It is so rewarding to volunteer. I also help out at the Thrift store if needed, which benefits the animals at PAWS.

I adopted from Paws Along the River in October. The process was fantastic. They made sure that the animal I had chosen would be a good companion for me and my family. I didn’t mind the adoption process being lengthy because their success rate of placement is so high. This is an indicator of a good quality program. My dog and I have bonded so well and neither of us can imagine life without the other. Keep up the good work !
