After sticking with a ho-hum accounting firm for way too long, I was finally fed up and ready to make a change. I read Profit First with a business mastermind group and was matched with Adjusting Entries as my certified PF professional. My first meeting with Peg was so helpful; I gained a lot of clarity and sense of responsibility to my business. I also became a client of Jim, my new bookkeeper, who I appreciate so much. Though we are simply going through my numbers, having an accountability guide through my income and expenses is really like having a business financial therapist. I have been in such a financial rut personally and professionally. I finally feel like it is possible to have a handle on my numbers. I'm hopeful for my future profit potential and success as a business.

UPDATE: I contacted Profit First Professionals, which is the company who referred me to Peg, and I told them what happened (you can read about the headaches Peg created below). I forwarded them email correspondence that flies in the face of Peg's response to this review (which you can also read below). Proft First was extremely concerned, not only about how egregious Peg's errors were but also with how Peg handled things, and they paid for the amendment that same day. If you came here through Profit First, save yourself some major headaches and kindly ask for someone new. Profit First has a lot of integrity and they are well aware of the issues I had with Peg Hill. There are plenty of better professionals to choose from in their pool. No reason to gamble your business on Peg Hill!ORIGINAL REVIEW: I found Peg Hill and Adjusting Entries through Profit First Professionals. I filled out their form and they matched me up with Peg. She has a named Profit First liason in her office, so I am guessing she values her relationship with them. I am a new business owner with an LLC, which I was extremely upfront about from the beginning, because my LLC was my main concern. Working with Peg was pleasant. No complaints there. My complaints are entirely with the fact that she royally screwed up my taxes and refused to take any responsibility for it. Here is the (extraordinarily long) list of mistakes:I sent Peg my SOI, Articles of Organization, and EIN. All of them have the letters "LLC" in the name. For starters, she didn't even use the correct company name for my business. She literally just made something up based on my website domain. Peg never filed a CA Form 568, as if the LLC was not actually an LLC doing business in the state of California. We even had quite a lengthy exchange regarding the $800 FTB tax for LLC's in California and she STILL did not file a CA Form 568. She failed to use the business EIN for the IRS, which meant I needed to file an amended return, which cost hundreds of dollars, missed work, and an enormous amount of headaches. She did not include any mortgage interest that we paid. She did not file any direct deposit information with the bank account information I sent her. Peg never sent me a copy to review BEFORE she filed, which is flat out illegal in California, although she is not based here, so while it may not be illegal in Pennsylvania, it certainly does not represent best business practices. While things with Peg were friendly, she made enough mistakes along the way (didn't know CA FTB regulations, wrong SSN's and no direct deposit) that I began to worry. I asked her for a copy of the return (which she still hadn't sent even after filing) and took it to a CPA in the hopes he would allay my fears, and instead he confirmed it was worse than I knew. There was no way to fix the missing EIN except to file an amendment.I contacted Peg and asked her to pay for the amendment. She refused to even admit there was an appreciable difference between what she filed and what the CPA filed. So here I am, BEGGING YOU TO RUN AWAY!!!! She may be able to handle simple personal returns, or sole proprietor returns, but she can't do anything more than that, and she is NOT worth the headaches/fines/potential suspensions that business owners face.

Adjusting Entries has done my taxes a few times. I went to them because they had a good reputation for helping small businesses and families, and having longstanding clients. I found the process for taxes to be very easy. I was able to provide what I had on paper and send the rest electronically. My taxes were done quickly and correctly. I also really appreciated the file I received in return. It was organized so that I could file it away and not have to worry about it. Peggy is very knowledgeable and could answer all of my tax questions right away. I even referred a family member to her for tax advice. Overall, this is a professional team and I love that I’m supporting a woman owned small business!

I consulted Peggy for some tax advice on an unusual tax year for my family. She listened attentively and was considerate. She investigated my questions and found all of the answers for me. She knew I was on a tight timeline and was kind enough to call me in the evening when I could talk.

Was unfortunate enough to have a phone appointment with “Peggy”. Was trying to start my own company and be professional and Peggy laughed at me the whole time. Thought I had faith in the small business community but this was an absolute joke. Thanks Peggy
