Dirty, bathrooms reak of urine. Locked me into a contract at 15 bucks a month and raised it to 30 and I couldn’t get out for a year. Don’t know how that’s legal.

I’ve never seen a dirtier gym. This gym has so much potential, it’s a shame. If only the staff would clean and maintain the equipment. When is the last time the air ducts have been cleaned? Why are there no fans? The air is so thick and stagnant. It really needs to be addressed before someone passes out.

WARNING DO NOT GIVE THIS GYM YOUR BANKING INFO*this has all been reported to the police* so if you have a similar experience - please let me know so I can add it to my police report. Per the manager “Alec” he gets complaints like this “all the time”.This gym will steal from you, without any remorse or urgency to address the situation. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BANKING INFO! $640 was stolen from my bank account the day before Thanksgiving - November 22, 2023. It was obviously very intentional. 4 transactions of $160 each was withdrawn from my personal bank account without any receipt or communication on why they felt they could take this money from me. They are preying on people both not checking their bank accounts and traveling for the holidays. This organization as a whole is set up to make sure people are robbed and have no way of contacting anyone useful to get their money back in a timely manner. I have had issues in the past trying to cancel a service that I was tricked into and never used with this gym so I knew calling the gym would amount to nothing. (I have proof that service was cancelled in August of 2021) If you have an issue, you must go in and deal with their nonchalant attitude that they stole a felony level worth of money from you.Went into the saucon valley gym at 11AM on a Thursday. Was met by the manager “Alec” who was everything BUT helpful on refunding the $640 that was stolen from me a month away from Christmas (NBD). I was told a mysterious person named “marcus” who was not present that day (although a half drank bottle of water was at his/her desk) would have information on why I was robbed of over $500. “Alec” was unable to assist AND was unable to provide me anyone’s contact information to settle this issue immediately. He stated his “boss” the regional manager and the owner of the gym were in Connecticut doing “I don’t know what”. (AKA: Living off people’s stolen money)I made it clear during my visit that my expectation was to be refunded immediately the same day I came into the gym. “Alec” the manager explained he could not provide me anyone in management or the gym owners contact information. He assured me he would make sure “Marcus” would call me back the same day to get the bank fraud sorted out. I waited all day and zero correspondence from anyone at this gym was received. If anyone knows the owner’s contact information that “alec” could not provide, please share. Thank you for reading my experience and I hope it doesn’t happen to you or your family.

This gym is going back to the way it was before Covid. Paper towels on the floor, mirrors are incredibly dirty and have hand prints all through out the gym, showers have used bars of soap on the floor, cables are shredding, there’s been a water bottle on top of the ventilation system for over a year. The woman who used to work here cleaned almost every day. The rest of the workers just sit behind the desk. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you don’t like a clean gym. Can’t tell me the franchisee and management do anything to keep this place clean. Wiping off my sweat today there’s at least a month of dust on the treadmill, they haven’t had brown paper towels in a at least a week, down to 1 spray bottle for cleaner in the main area, this water bottle on top of the hvac system had been there for 2 years and the water filter for drinking water has been in the red for a month (and yes I told them 2 weeks ago). This gym had gone straight down the tubes.Oh I got another. Apparently you’re allowed to bring your own speaker and blast it in the gym. Had to work out to 2 types of music blasting and the smell of weed. Lively to workout out to at 6 am. No one of authority in this gym.Edit as of 5/2/2023. The water bottle is still on top of the vent. Employees still hide behind the desk. The locker rooms are terrible. Every day members leave empty soap bottles in the shower. Treadmills are covered in a layer of dust. Oh and apparently Bluetooth speakers are now allowed to be played throughout the gym. If you sign up for this gym, you get less than you pay for. The cob web in the photo goes from the top of the machine to the ceiling.Edit 5/18/23New development. Showers are disgusting. Combination of gym goers not giving a damn and lack of cleaning. Bandaids, bars of soap and god knows what else.8/8/23They finally scrapped the shower steps.5:30 am and had to pick up 4 water bottles laying around machines, paper towel shreds all around the cable machine. Cable attachments laying on the floor. It’s almost like they’ve stopped cleaning the gym.9/26/23This really could be a good gym but obviously the employees, management and owners do not really care. You walk in and the employees sit on the desk and barely look up when you walk in. The amount of cleaning that needs to be done is ridiculous. If you’re allergic to dust, forget coming here. The top of machines and vents are layered in dust. The treadmills are covered in sweat stains and dust and there’s still 2 of the 4 stair machines down for months.

This gym is the absolute worst. It’s so gross, I don’t ever see the staff walking around cleaning. They’re always behind the desk on their phones. If a machine is broken, expect it to remain out of order for the rest of your membership. They never clean or enforce their own policies on cleanliness. It’s just such a dump. It smells like mold, the bathrooms are nasty and never stocked with toilet paper or soap. It’s such a nasty place and I’m honestly surprised i haven’t caught some form of staph infection from this place. The management is non existent and or they hardly care about their establishment. It’s sad to see something go down hill but it’s going and it’s only a matter of time before they’ll be closed. Save your money and head to planet fitness or steel fitness, or honestly any other place aside from this place. It’s NOT WORTH IT.

Went from 5 to 3 stars because for the last few weeks the gym has been at a staggering 78 degrees with it being extremely humid inside the gym. some of the equipment is literally rusting from the warm, wet enviroment of the gym. it is hard to breathe after just a few minutes of exercise. the gym originally halted opening by 5months or so due to a faulty A/C, i guess it broke again.

I would rate this place zero stars if I could. There is no air ventilation in that place, no fans and they don’t turn any AC on so it’s unbearably hot in there. The machines are consistently broken or worn down. I don’t think a treadmill has seen a drop of oil since opening. They screech the whole time you walk on them. It’s rare that they have paper towels and spray to wipe down your machine so I can’t imagine how dirty they really are. Once my membership is up, I’m going back to planet fitness which is CHEAPER and way cleaner and higher quality machines then what this place has to offer. It’s ridiculous. I wish I looked at reviews before signing up.

Glad I "grew up" in old school gyms. Equipment broken for weeks, overall dirty. Very nostalgic for me in a way but what you charge for a basic membership and even a daily guest pass you should really work on the upkeep. You are lucky there are not many choices in the area for gyms, as many would be changing it up. Maybe rather than having so many people behind the counter have them on the floor actually doing something to fix the issues that many people are having issues with vs complaining about everything. Save the "automatic "reply as it seems nothing is being done about the concerns. Owners just cross your fingers nothing else closer opens up.

Gym was nice prior to Covid but ever since machines are falling apart and take months to fix. Hand grips on machine fall off and paper towels and electrical tape are used as replacements. Bathrooms smell disgusting and are rarely clean. Water fountain filter replacemnt light has been on for months. Also, half of the cleaning bottles do not work and paper towels are always empty. Not worth the money you pay.

They keep the heat on…… while you’re working out. No fans. And honestly they don’t clean any part of the gym. It’s old, smelly and full of bacteria. Sad.Edit— it’s been about 4 weeks since the water filter is red, signaling a need for replacement. I advised the workers and they said they can’t do anything about that. The walls are filled with dust the trash cans have mold.

I only go to this gym because of its close proximity to my house, but safe to say once we move, I’ll be ending my membership. For $40 a month, this place is ridiculous. The bathrooms are continuously disgusting, machines are dated or constantly broken (today for example… 3 out of the 4 stair steppers are out of order), it’s is always so hot in there like they don’t turn the AC up, machines are never wiped down, trash cans are filthy, and about 50% of the time you’re lucky if there’s spray to clean your machine off. Do better or lower your prices.

I joined over a year ago when it was $10 a month. It was cleaned regularly and the equipment was mostly working. Then it went up to $15 and now the place is always filthy and when the equipment breaks it stays that way for months. The place is definitely declining.

Bathrooms and showers look like they haven't been cleaned in months. Shocked by that. Gym is OK at best.

too many hidden fees. great if you want to slam weights. Not good for ptsd or people who don't like sudden loud noises. Equipment constantly broken and takes weeks to fix. And now more expensive than planet fitness. None of their rules are enforces Garbage left everywhere bathrooms smell like sandy sh*t. Also broken a lot and not fixed. don't go there when it rains the roof leaks a lot. Probably better off working out in a construction sight port-a-potty. Plan on staying a year because theirs an $85 cancelation fee. $10 late fee too so pay on time or pay more than double planet fitness.

I went here for a little less than a year. I wasn't impressed. I use to work at a gym, when I did, I was almost ALWAYS cleaning.Sadly, I never seen ANY of the staff at Maxx cleaning and it shows. After cancelling at Maxx, I joined over at St. Luke's gym on Centronia road. That gym is amazing. It is big, impeccably clean, the staff is upbeat and friendly. It is expensive though (unless you work for St. Luke's)...sometimes you get what you pay for. Maxx should definitely stop charging members an "enhancement fee" until they hire a decent staff that greets members with a smile, cleans, refills cleaning solution bottles, paper towels and performs periodic wipe downs on the equipment. Also, members could use common sense and clean up after themselves. Some people are just slobs. Just sayin.
