We went to Desaki for the first time for my daughters birthday. It is very similar to other hibachi restaurants. The staff (especially our waiter and one of the chefs) were very friendly and made the evening fun. There was a ton of food. The food itself was decent. The seasoning on the meat was different than I have had before but it was pleasant. They don’t serve dessert so if you want to celebrate a birthday you need to buy the “birthday package “ for $30 which consists of the staff signing to you and ringing a gong and then serving a $5 semi frozen cake from the supermarket that is really pretty bad. It seemed like bringing your own cake was an option. Really wish we had done that esp since the package seems like such a rip off. One nice thing they offered was a free pic of your group at the table . Without the friendly waiter and the funny chef. the night wouldn’t have been much fun.

Definitely overcrowded and overpriced! Seafood was ok and meals took forever to get. Waiter was running around and servers appeared to not know where to turn and when. Hibachi was overpriced. Drinks were never refilled. Lost power during a storm and was told we couldn’t leave until power came back so they could print the tabs. Wouldn’t go back due to overpriced and help was not very good. Also they add tip onto bill without telling you until it comes.

Poor customer service!!!!!! I wanted to leave but my party was hungry it was late and we didn’t know where else to go. I do not recommend this restaurant at all! I don’t know if it was a race issue or they just offer poor customer service. The table we we’re seated at was dripping dirty oil from the hibachi vent, they didn’t move us to another table just added a side table in front of a door. After complaining about it they finally closed and locked the door so we won’t be disturbed. On top of this the food is mediocre.

This place has numerous billboards around town proclaiming to welcome large groups. I was in town with my extended family on a bucket list vacation with them. It was our last night together, and I wanted it to be special. We chose this restaurant primarily because their advertising led me to believe that a large group of 13 would be welcome. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Note that there was no line of people waiting to get in, hence no reason for the rushing of us from the minute we walked in the door. Our party wasn't even seated before the waitress, Jillian, started taking drink orders. OK, people typically know what they want to drink before they sit down. But then she started asking about appetizer orders before most people had had a chance to open the menu that had just been set before them. When the main course was served, at the same time to-go boxes were set out in front of us, as well as the check! We hadn't even taken our first bites! The waitress then had the gall to inform us that a 20% gratuity has been added automatically to the bill, proceeded to explain how the tip is divided up amongst the staff, basically implying that we should leave more. Perhaps the most offensive occurrence of the evening, which prompted a complaint to the manager,( a waste of my breath), was that one of the members of the group ordered an appetizer only for her meal, due to dietary restrictions that she has. She was informed that there is a $15 per person minimum to sit at the hibachi table. I politely asked the waitress to consider that others at the table had ordered appetizers - couldn't she assign one of the other appetizers to this individual so that the $15 minimum could be considered met? The rude young woman simply turned her back on me. I realize she doesn't make the rules, but she could have done something other than ignore me. There is so much to unpack here. * I did not see it stated anywhere that there was a $15 minimum to sit at that table. I may have missed it, as I being rushed so much. But I think it should be stated prior to seating. * I think that considering the bill was going to exceed $500, and there was a legitimate reason for ordering only an appetizer, a reasonable accommodation should have been made. * The 20% mandatory tip should also be stated prior to seating. I would have left 18%, regardless of the crappy service by the waitress, because who knows what she is up against in life, but a 20% tip I would not have left. * I found it distasteful for her to fish for an additional tip. * This waitress was rude from the start, and would benefit from some customer service training. We never gave her any reason to treat us this way. No one was rude to her. * I understand the nature of hibachi dining. They can't have people dilly-dallying around. I get that, but that is not what was happening. I had the distinct impression that she had better things to do. Maybe her shift was ending? * The manager was less than useless in resolving my complaint about the minimum. She shrugged her shoulders and said that was the policy, she didn't make the rules. Maybe not, but she could have done something differently, I am certain. Bottom line, I spent $500 and felt ripped off and angry. I should have taken my business elsewhere. This treatment marred a special occasion, and for this reason, this was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had.

Very nice atmosphere, service was good, and the food was good. Priced a little on the higher end and they include a %20 tip automatically...

The last time we were here was 2 years ago. We were seated behind the cook and observed his backside the entire meal. We were OK with this because it was a discount night and we were last to be seated at the table. This time, we were first to be seated on a full price day. Again, we were seated behind the cook and had a backside view. This will be our last time.

When my kids are eating dinner, I usually have to ask them to eat their food no less than a dozen times, but at Desaki, I didn't utter the phrase once. They loved the food and they loved the entertainment from the chef, and so did my wife and I. The hibachi salmon I got was amazingly juicy and the servings were incredibly generous. We also got some sushi which was remarkably fresh. To top it all off, the kids got some amazing balloon animals from the complimentary balloon artist on-site. Highly recommend for families staying in the area.

My family loves Hibachi and so we thought we would try Desaki while on vacation in the Poconos. Turns out it's probably the best one we've ever been too. Great food and fun for the family!

We have been visiting the Poconos for a week, and our meal at Desaki was the best meal BY FAR! My husband and I both had the hibachi steak and chicken. The broth soup is better than any hibachi I had been to previously. Everything was cooked perfectly and the performance of the hibachi chefs was funny and full of music! Make sure you ask for the yum yum and ginger sauce. So good!

I went here for Valentines day and what a disgusting experience. They ran a promotion for half off and when I walked in the door for once we were rushed to the table. Before I even had my coat off I was asked for drinks and apps. I asked about the promotion and was told to see the hostess who informed me it had to be presented before seating. I didnt even get the chance to speak when I walked in. We sat across from the bar and I watched as several bartenders were wiping their noses with their hands and fishing fruit out of drinks they were preparing. After our meal the hostess brought 6 people to the table to be seated before we even finished our drinks. She then removed our glasses half full from in front of us and started to walk away when my wife said shed like to finish her beer. The hostess turned and slammed the glass back on the counter splashing beer out of the glass and walked away leaving the people just standing there staring at us. They have a PR guy who i explained this to as I was leaving and he grabbed the owner and told me to explain it to him. His response.....he asked me 3 questions. Was I seated? Yes. Did I eat? ? Yes. Did you pay? Yes. Then said and I quote. Good get the **** out of my restaurant. I'm not one to write reviews but we eat there atleast once a week and with an average check of around 250 we spend at least $1000 there a month. What a disgrace. Imagine what goes on in the back that you cant see. Never again
