Favorite local shop to buy outdoor items . Love the fishing section lots to choose from . The price is very fair and worth the value you'll pay . Everytime I walk in I am greeted with a hello . Very friendly staff . If you're looking for a good outdoor shop look no further .

Great customer service! They have everything here! The place was pretty busy the weekend before Christmas and we had a great experience. Friendly service. Answered all our questions. Helped pick out the correct items. Competitive pricing.

This review is for the Dunkelberger's branch located in Brodheadsville, PA. My husband (who is a veteran) and I visited the store to inquire about trading-in two handguns, with the intent to purchase another brand of handgun from Dunkleberger's (which they confirmed they had in stock). After manhandling the trade-ins and taking our property out of our sight for a few minutes, the guy we spoke to offered $300 for the two trade-ins; he raised it to $350 after we questioned him since we had literally just been to another shop where they offered $800 for the same two handguns. How can two local shops -- especially one as large as Dunkleberger's -- be so far apart?? Seems like Dunkleberger's needs to do some research RE: their target demographic, local competition, and basic customer service.

Was helped by a gentleman named Gordon. Knows his stuff and answered all of my billions of questions, explained different features on the guns I was debating between, very friendly and welcoming. Let us know if tools to practice gun safety with I.e fake bullets to practice loading with, pamphlets provided by state senator, etc because I was very safety conscious. We are two women and we were treated like humans and that has not been our experience in other gun stores around the area. Would recommend Dunkelburgers 100 percent.

Went with husband (a VETERAN) and a friend to buy a few rifles, shot guns and ammo. Place was recommended by another close friend (also a VETERAN) as we sponsor locally owned business. We looked online for variety and availability. When we arrived at the place there were 2 men behind the counter, an older gentleman's with long white beard and heavy accent and a younger one. They both saw all of us, never asked us if we needed help. We identified as resident of NY and asked to see some of their inventory. Older and young gentleman refused stating we would not be able to purchase it because we lived in NY. I made the distinction that we DO NOT live in NYC so it would not apply to us. He "looked in a book" and said Noup here it says NY. Long story short, we went to a Dick's Sporting Goods a few minutes away from this store and got what went for. We were not turned away because we were from NY. The truth...I think they saw 2 Hispanics and an African American and felt we were not good enough to be served. We kept in touch with Linda, store manager, and informed her all that happened and how we were in our way to Dick's. Funny, when we arrived at Dicks the attendant said: "someone just called to ask if they can buy here being from NY and the rules". must've been Linda! We followed up with Linda after purchase was made. She was apologizing and asked us to come in a different day that the two that did not helped us are not there. As if I would give them our time and money to this business. Avoid this store who clearly profiles people and denies service with lies about government laws.

So this place used to be good. I used to get my son's boy scout uniform and equipment from here. The staff used to be helpful. Now....like many other places....customer service has declined significantly and this place doesn't care. They don't respond to concerns pointed out by customers, they don't respond to reviews, and the staff will literally stare at you behind locked doors with the hours clearly displayed that the store should be open at that time. What is even more surprising is that this occurred over the holiday weekend with the start of tourist season. A shop that deals in camping, outdoor, and fishing equipment closes earlier than posted on a holiday weekend that kicks off the summer. Will no longer bring my business here.

Ordered guns from their website twice, picked up in Stroudsburg. Process was smooth with paper forms and knowledgeable salesman. Prices were acceptable. Guns looked pristine not like they were fumbled with greasy hands. No long wait. The Stroudsburg store is small, on dolled up Main st. so it's not going to be a Sportsmens Warehouse get a grip. In a pinch they have ammo and targets I use, but the orange 8" peel-backs was sold out more often than in stock and range FMj and CCI mini mags were not always in stock. Ammo prices are a bit high. I once tried selling them a popular model used gun in very good condition, but the price I got was a lot lower than "blue book". Staff changes there might cause a disconnect between "regular customer" who gets a better offer, and a new customer.

Their prices are not on par with other places in PA, found better places to shop since first purchase. Still a good place to look at stuff, big selection.

I stopped in twice, a Friday then the next day on a Saturday. First time I stopped and spoke with Keith who gave me lots of great info and no pressure to buy. Even as I was about to spend 1500.00 on a shot gun and a top of the line compact pistol this sales person suggested I try the hand gun before buying because I had a lot of questions and I was a newbie. After an hour at the firing range I came back for Keith. I came back even though I was seeing online prices were much better. I thought the sales person integrity and guidance would be worth my spending extra. Another sales person Gordon (older gentleman with a very long white beard) said Keith might be tied up for a while and suggested I let him help me. After gathering some more info from Gordon I was now confused. I was now confused when I had been clear and was starting to narrow things down. The friend I came to the store with asked to use the mens room and was directed by Gordon upstairs. After my friend returned, I went to use the bathroom just like I had the day before. Not remembering clearly which way to turn, I asked a young lady in the clothing dept if I was going in the right direction. She said they didn't have a bathroom. I told her I used it yesterday and she said they don't allow customers to use it on the weekends. I went back to my sales person GORDON and asked him if he could speak to the young lady for me so I could use the bathroom. I let him know she said they didn't allow it to be used on the weekends. He said, "oh he was sorry, it was probably out of order as it sometimes is". In addition to feeling embarrassed, I thought about it later and I felt a little humiliated. I spoke with my friend who had just used the bathroom and he speculated why he might have been allowed to use the bathroom and I wasn't. I thought the incident was worth posting. I had to use the bathroom badly and was clearly someone who was interested in spending money at the store. Not someone walking in off of the street. I estimate I would have spent at least 2,000.00 with just my first purchase. After this incident not only would I never spend any money here but I vowed to not step foot in the store. This isn't any way to treat a potentially very good customer. This behavior doesn't instill any sort of confidence in me when I'm, using someone as a trusted consultant. This incident made me feel like this retailers is not very sympathetic to people and might lack judgement and a conscience when it came to other important things. I also think it's appalling that the salesperson GORDON (with the long white beard) was ok with my friend being able to use the bathroom but for me it was out of order. Read this and do better Dungleburger's. This should not happen ever again.

Purchased a muzzleloader from here not long ago and the gentleman behind the gun counter had great knowledge and helped a lot. I was adamant about not wanting to give Dick's my business when it came to firearms and preferred to give my money to local business. They cut me a good break on price and I was happy to purchase my muzzleloader from them. I didn't look around much but they seemed to have a solid selection. Good group of guys that work in there. Would definitely recommend.

If you're visiting the Poconos and need gear for your outdoor activities, then you should be able to find anything you want here. This business is huge - it takes up a few stores next to each other, and includes a second floor. They've been in operation for 50 years... I don't even know where to start listing all the different kinds of things they sell here... Hiking boots, and all kinds of other clothes for hiking (for all different seasons)... Tents of different sizes, and other goods for camping... Kayaks, Paddle Boats, Oars. Life Jackets. Fishing rods, and all kinds of fishing gear (including live worms)... Bows & Arrows, and all different kinds of additional gear for archery (of all levels)... They also include a lot of guns for hunting, and all kinds of other hunting accessories (although hunting is something which I personally am not a fan of, I can't imagine people looking for hunting gear being disappointed with what this store has to offer). The walls here are decorated with taxidermy... And they just sell tons of other goods for outdoor activities, I can't even attempt to list them all. Bottom line is: regardless whether you're a tourist visiting the Poconos or a year around resident, this is the place to get your gear if you want to enjoy the outdoor activities there.

I would Frequently visit the Dunkleburgers on Main Street for 8 years. today I walked in and there was a snot nose, little fat short POS! Who upon entering, asked me if I was carry a gun on me, I responded yes, he asked to see it to make sure it wasn't loaded I obliged, took it out and told them I never keep it cocked and locked. He actually told me I had to put my gun back. But I had to hold the magazine in my hands while shopping.... I took my gun back, and asked him if he was fuckin kidding me. I exited the store. Never will I spend my money there, ever again.

A friend of mine and I came in to look at some of the rifles and what not. We went to take a photo of one of the firearms to send to a friend as he was looking for said firearm and thought we'd try to bring the store some business before we were interrupted and loudly told that we were not to take photos in the store. Would not have cared if there was signage posted saying not to. But otherwise great selection. The AKs here are a bit trash though. Don't expect to be given much info on a firearm you ask about.
