Penn State Meat Laboratory offers a three-hour learning session focused on beef, pork, and lamb, covering meat quality, cooking methods, and food safety, which participants highly recommend. The laboratory has a great selection of meats at reasonable prices, but it is only open on Fridays from 9:30 AM to 3 PM, closing earlier if they run out of stock. Helpful butchers provide suggestions, and special homemade items are available at the sale.
Good to arrive early if possible. The staff are helpful and you get good food at a great price.
