Tire Town recommended Peak's for engine repair. Peak's didn't have to go too deeply into the engine, but they fixed it and took it for a test drive. They showed me the bad part when I went to pick up my car, and explained that the engine with 105k miles was as good as new again. Now, it's up to 113k, and doing fine. Engine work is expensive; you heard it here first. But $1800 was cheaper than having to get a new car.

One of the best repair shops in State College. I had a Oil Leak, which was a massive headache and they helped me throughout the process and, of-course, they fixed the oil leak. I, also, had a coolant leak because the water pumps on the German engines always fail, so, I called Mr. Denny up and he happily took my car in, kept it overnight until I decided if the quote they gave me for the fixes was in my budget. All in all, excellent customer service, true VW Specialists and I'm always gonna come back to them. DENNY IS THE MAN!

Denny is a friendly person, much needed support with a great customer service. Solved all my issues with the car, changed headlight, and few other things while at the workshop. They Understand the car and maintain system very well, and have good connection to get parts. I’ve added a glimpse of invoice to share idea of costing for each service.
I didn’t have to wait for service, and everything was convenient. I recommend this place for their excellent service, and knowledge. For price, there might be some cheaper alternatives, I am not sure comparing the quality.

Would not recommend this place to anyone…will price gouge, offer to “scrap your car for free,” even though everything works fine, and the fix was a simple $50 at the dealership…very unprofessional and condescending.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I used to work at a dealership and I would definitely recommend coming here over a dealership 100% of the time if you can. Denny and the staff are so kind and honest. We take both our vehicles here and I would highly recommend peaks to my friends and family.

For many years I have been using Peake's for all of my car repairs including having the air conditioning in one of our cars fixed this spring. I also have them do the routine checks and oil changes. I have always been very pleased with the quality of the work and how courteous and helpful they have been. I highly recommend Peake' s for all your automotive repairs and service.

The owner or technician doesn't have an approachable attitude. Think I might get tricked into replacing the whole brake set instead of the pads but not knowledgeable enough.

This place is a gem. Danny is knowledgeable, professional and thorough. He took care of my car in an emergency while I was visiting my daughter at Penn State. I highly recommend this business!Service: General repairs & maintenance

I'm not sure if my review was deleted...I can't seem to find it here or on the other site I posted on. Do. Not. Take. Your. Car. Here. They will rip you off, berate you, and treat you horribly. Took my car here for an issue that seemed much bigger than it was. The owner, Paul, wouldn't even look at it. Offered to "scrap it" for $100...yeah no. The cat alone on it was worth $1800+. I took it to the local dealership and the fix was only $50. A few months later, I find out my cat was stolen (I'm a minute walk from the auto shop). Very suspicious...possibly illegal dealings going on here. Avoid at all costs. Take it to the Exxon shop located just up the block - fair prices and the owner was extremely friendly.

tl;dr, I was lied to and told parts needed replaced that didn't actually need to be replaced.Been taking my vehicles here for state inspections for a few years and it's been ok as long as everything passed inspection. This year, I was told the front brakes, rotors, and calipers and a tie rod needed replaced and was pressured to consider replacing the parking brake. I was quoted $1200 for the job.A friend neat Pittsburgh has a lift, so rather than pay for the repairs I decided to drive over and do the work myself. One brake and rotor legitimately needed replaced because a caliper was a bit rusty, so the front brakes amd rotors were changed. But the calipers just needed to be cleaned, not replaced. And the tie rod was perfectly fine and didn't need replaced (my friend with the lift is an ex-state inspector and confirmed this). The parking brake was fine as well. In all, the parts that needed replaced were less than $200 and probably would have been less than $500 had I paid for labor.I took my vehicle with new front brakes and rotors to a different state inspector and it passed easily, no comment about the tie rod or calipers. I will not be going back to Peake's again.

VERY DISRESPECTFULL Staff!Unfortunately, I had a very annoying and disappointing exprience with them which went beyond the regular bussiness issues. The person (Paul) who sits at the front desk treated me very disrespectfully just because I asked him to give me a quote on my car repair cost after they run diagnostic test. I clearly asked him to run a diagnostic test and let me know what is wrong with my car, after it I decide that I am going to fix it or not. Normally, that should cost you around $100 and I believe you have a right to decide whether you wanna fix your car after it or not. But he told me your repairs cost $600 or if you don't want to repair it now/here, you have to pay $290 for diagnosis and other labor things that we already run though I ClEARLY asked him to JUST run the diagnosis and tell me about the codes. He put me under pressure to decide if I am going to pay $600 to fix it or pay $290 for just nothing. That was a very disgusting situation when he was yelling at me to decide what I am going to do... Of course, I chose the former but that wasn't my favor decision. I really didn't understand why he was so angry but what ever it was had things with my language barrier and accent because I just asked him to give a written quote to better understand why I should pay $290 or even $600 and share it with my partner. I thought they treat all their customers in the same way but if you are not a native NEVER go there. Even if you don't verbally understand what is wrong with your car you have no right to ask them to give you a quote, otherwise he gets mad at you. then NEVER go there. Whatever was wrong with that person, I will never forgive him for treating me like that.
