The pharmacy at this store needs improvement. The techs or pharmacists do not acknowledge your presents takes them forever to come to counter to wait on you , then they act like they are doing you a favor. Today I had a script call in at 9 30 am at 2 30 pm it still wasn't filled, the med was badly needed by the patient. Been going there for years with no issues, the past year there is a issue every time,by the way there was 3 people working behind the counter plus a long line of customers, time to change pharmacy

This rating is SPECIFICALLY for their Chinese food. I love their Chinese food, it's really salty but I love that. Not even as salty as other Chinese food anyway. I used to get chicken and broccoli, pork fried rice, and an egg roll a lot after would go to therapy when I was a good. The man started recognizing my parents and I and knowing my order. I have seen the same man and woman working there for awhile and they're both very nice, give HUGE portions, and have given me free stuff. It's also priced pretty good and you can get it from the fridges after for cheaper. There's also a nice seating area.

today a employee helped me bag my groceries and they manager yelled at her and told her I could do it myself ... I was in line with a cashier though the cashier is to bag your stuff , if I wanted to bag my groceries myself I would have used a self checkout / pretty sure your not to be yelling at your employees at the front of the store so everyone walking out can hear you / I personally think the woman that came to help bag my groceries did a wonderful job / manger on duty did a shitty Job ..... cause the cashier I had was having a hard time so by the other worker helping him made it easier / I did help the woman bag my groceries ( 12:30pm-1pm on 4/16/2023)

Higher prices anywhere except Wegmans, terrible death curve entrance near the road across from Sheetz! Almost been in an accident more than once pulling off Atherton because idiots leaving the lot, right next to small space other cars enter. Crazy staff people. Good produce when they have what you want. Good wine and beer, single can selection.

This Giant Food Store recently opened on in the old Riverside Market Shopping Center on South Atherton Street, State College, PA. It replaced the store that was on Benner Pike that was too small and dated. This store is enormous. If you can't find what you are after, stop looking, they have everything. Giant's Bakery is to DIE for. They offer whole grain breads, store made whole loaves of bread they make on site. The largest selection of FRESH fruits and vegetables, refrigerated Pasta products, and anything you want. Generally their prices are slightly higher than big box stores, but everything is so fresh, there is no comparison. Modern rest rooms and a huge parking lot. Awesome!

Worst grocery store in State College. Bad smells, rotting food, shoplifting prevention robot filming you all the time, and drug addicts waiting for the pharmacy to open. I grew up in a "top 10" crimes per capita city and I know what sketchy people and situations look like! I didn't even know State College had such a sketchy underbelly, but they are here in this store. Most folks know to never trust a grocery store that smells bad. This place stunk the first week it was open. I've tried to shop here on multiple attempts, but every time it's a lesson in food safety. A few weeks ago I picked up a carton of Zucchini noodles and it literally poured out rotting juice all over the items below it. Not a little - like half a cup worth. I had to run the the bathroom on the other side of the store to wash my hands. Several times I've bought celery, which usually can last a week or more, and had to throw it out a day or two later. Soft bell peppers. Baby carrot bags filled with as much liquid as solids. If the fruit and vegetable section is that awful who would dare try the seafood or meat section - not us! If all you need are chips, crackers, canned soup, or coke you might be fine. I will warn you though, you better bring your hiking boots as this is a needlessly large store. There is simply no reason to have this much product on the shelves. There is a shop lifting prevention "robot" that rolls all over the place filming everyone. I don't consent to being filmed by a moveable object that can follow you around the store. All this says to me is that they know they have many problems. Final warning - if you shop on weekdays between 8:30-9:00 am you will see the sketchiest people in State College lurking around. Walking up and down with empty shopping carts, using the bathroom then just walking around the store. I believe these drug addicts are waiting for the pharmacy to open. I've lived in many rough towns before and know the behaviors of sketchy people. This place is full of them around that time. Thank goodness schools are in session as I wouldn't let children wander the store with that motley crew pilfering around. Scary! The only upsides are the nice ladies at the Starbucks stand and that the store has enough help in the bagging area.

Yay! Sooo excited to have this new giant. It's clean and modern, doesn't feel like a grocery store from 1982 like most stores here. They have a Starbucks! Their deli is amazing. Sushi Wednesday's 4.99 for any roll! Chinese take out is good and great price. Kombucha on tap! Lovely lovely! So happy they opened this place.

I'm really disappointed with this new store. I liked the location of the old store much better. Why do we need two grocery stores next door to each other? I have never seen the Starbucks open. I hate that most of the registers are self checkout. The layout is confusing. It seems dark. There are less sales and less selection. I'm probably not going back.

We had a nice shopping experience (and had some previous nice experiences since they opened) until we ran into them requiring ID to purchase groceries recently. Now, it's not strictly true that you *have* to have an ID to purchase groceries, but there was more than a few items in our cart that were 2 for 1 with a bonus card, where the real price was about 2 for the price of 1.5. that is, the price was inflated before being discounted. They were thus going to charge me about $10 more on $20 if I did not have a card. I can live without a "free" turkey or 30 cents off a total gas fillup, but 50% is too much of a surcharge. When they opened, you did not have to have your own bonus card, but provided a store card at the check out. Weiss nearby, to my knowledge does not require a card and Giant on north atherton did not the last time I went there, but it does change. Wegman, for example, has changed, probably not because I walked away from a cart full when they wanted my driver's license one christmas to get a bonus card, but perhaps I contributed to them rethinking their position. We were directed to get a card that would 'take 2 seconds', but in fact, it does not. It requires name and probably address at least asks for phone and email. I did not wait to find out if they ask for photo ID. So, we left. Until they change this practice, I won't shop there. Which is a shame, because it is convenient, and almost as nice as a nice store like HiVee (they close their olive bar down early we also learned). More on "loyalty" cards:

Great staff, always quality service and great knowledge. Some times there's a wait, but that gives you time to get your grocery shopping done
