I adopted my dog from here 2 years ago. They’re professional, and the shelter is clean; I would recommend adopting from them. It was a pleasure adopting from them.

This facility is rude and heartless. Don't let them lie to you. If you surrender an animal (you FOUND or one of your own) they will make you out to be the bad guy and put you on a DO NOT ADOPT LIST.

I wish I didn't even have to leave a star as a review. This business decided to post about a cat that was brought to their location along with a threat to charge the woman bringing the kitty in. They found the cat on the side of the road and instead of leaving them there, they brought it to an ANIMAL SHELTER. (Meant to house, take care of, and adopt out stranded and neglected animals mind you) They took the cat in and then decided to publicly blast the person that brought in the poor thing by saying they would take legal action and charge them!!! I went to their page and posted on a few of their posts and was immediately blocked along with a few of my friends. Unacceptable behavior from the owner and operator of this shelter. If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. Disgusting.

To think that a place meant to help animals would threaten someone who was trying to help one is absurd . I understand the circumstance and think if you’re a person with a heart you wouldn’t have threatened the law , you would have tried to get the cat adopted or the person back to get the cat somewhere back to where it was after being checked over and made sure there was chip. Shame on the management who makes this decision

Imagine threatening to press charges on someone who found a cat and brought it in to be scanned. How disgusting. THEY saved that cat by finding it. THAT DOES NOT MEAN THEY OWN THAT CAT. No good deed goes unpunished. Pathetic.

Absolutely appalling to put a person on blast that was trying to do the right thing and save a cat that they found on the side of the road by saying they "dumped" the cat and threatening legal action OVER A STRAY.
Horrible business, horrible employees, horrible management.

I recently adopted a dog from here and we're a perfect match. It's a fine place that has come a long way in the 30 years that I've known about it. The staff is helpful and does a great job on limited resources. Thank you.

I recently adopted two dogs from Griffen. The transition between application and pickup was prompt and professional. Cam was the handler for our meet and greet and it was immediately apparent the love and connection she had with them. Amy was so helpful with all of our questions. Two weeks after adoption when we ran into a problem at home, Amy called us back immediately and went above and beyond to help. I can’t thank her enough for her time. Megan fielded all of my calls and had answers for every medication question I had. I can’t speak highly enough about this shelter and the people that work there dedicating their lives to the animals. Theres not a doubt in my mind that they give their all for every animal that comes through those doors. Thank you for everything you guys do!

This shelter always seems to have the nicest people working there and the facility is very clean. I adopted a cat and you can tell the girls who take care of the cats really care about them. They have tons of beautiful kitties waiting to be adopted!

Honestly had heard some 'eh' things about this place but really wanted a new kitten after losing my cat recently. I went on a Saturday and was greeted by the staff right away. They answered my questions, listened to me talk about my sweet Wednesday and showed me around. I had a real expectation of having to wait for Monday to hear about the application. Megan was great, she emailed me right away on Monday morning and let me know I was approved just after lunch. We ended up adopting two kittens and love them so much!
Today - someone found a kitten on the side of the road, back legs not moving and a bloody nose. Griffin pond showed closed so we found an ER vet open in Plains. Drive the cat down and they say they can't take the cat because it was found in Lackawanna County. She calls Ashley at Griffin Pond and Ashley didn't hesitate to take responsibility for this sweet kitten.
Both times I've had a good experience with this place and I would highly recommend them!

Over the past week, i had been trying to contact GPAS to adopt Mr Mellow. I filled out the information on the adoption form properly, and provided permission for them to come inspect the property to make sure it was fit, however my calls where dodged until today when they told me that “they aren’t too certain” because of the way the house looks on Zillow. And no, they did not even attempt to bother coming out to see the inside or anything on their own. They judged my worth as a capable owner based off my home, and how it looked in photos, without any personal investigation. Disgusting and discriminatory.

So when you adopt from here you have a contract if something happens that you can not keep the animals they are to be returned to them. I have two that my daughter has left in my care I can not do it anymore after back surgeries. My daughter is traveling ti help hospitals in need of surgical techs and can not take them with her. So I called today about the contract the girl was nasty and said they do not honor the contracts. I get they are full but if and when space opens up they should honor the contract.
