I purchased a 6-class bundle on recommendation of a local vet. Didn't realize there was such drastically different styles of training. No offense to this business but I do not agree with their training methods at all. I attended first class and trainer stated she couldn't bring her dog to use as demo because it bit a human and failed the CGC test. In a class of 4, 1 person had been there 2 times and another 3, both claiming dogs were not listening to training. I told owner before attending classes i was teaching my dog NO and using a prong collar and she stated only that I had to use a martingale or flat collar for her class. I found out in first class that they dont want you to teach your dog no, its positive only training, and when i asked them about correcting jumping and counter surfing i was told to turn my back and ignore it. This is not possible when you have an older visitor come to your house to tell them to turn around and let the dog jump and push them down and injure them. After finding out that their philosophy didn't align with how i wanted to train my dog I offered to pay $80 for a one hour consult if the owner would refund the balance of the $190 class fee. She refused stating zero refunds. She could have told me prior to letting me attend the first class that our views would not align. I was extremely descriptive in my email prior to attending what I expected. I should have done my homework, but she could have been a decent business owner and simply allowed me a partial refund due to the differences. Would you pay $190 for a dog training class that the trainer says her own personal dog bites humans?

Would not bring my dog anywhere else! Ali's knowledge and training techniques are extremely valuable and effective. There is a wide variety of classes offered - we just finished our fourth one, and will definitely be back for several more!

My dog was far advanced for the initial class but I couldn’t get a refund. After two classes I stopped going. I’m not having a huge Belgian malanois run around and not get anything out of it.She could’ve set me up or at least discounted an advanced class, but nope. Thanks for nothing. Also this was back in 2018

I would not take my dog anywhere else. Ali helped me train Theo (and me), he is truly my companion. It feels amazing to be able to have the confidence to take my dog anywhere and know he will listen to my commands and not pull on his leash.

The understanding of canines and quality advice from allie brown has made my home more livable and my dog more lovable . The classes are easy to understand and practice at home. Click and treat training is a less abusive way to train your dog, it works for me.

Dirk, Drake and Gibbs all love going to scent class at Great Companions. We have all learned about scent work. Such fun for them to use their natural abilities.

My girl Inis and I can't say enough about Great Companions, where learned to be a team! We put the skills we learned to the test at a recent doggie fun event. While other folks struggled to get their pups to sit and pose at a photo op, Inis sat and stayed like a pro! Thanks, Ali, and Inis says, "Awoo!"

We have been attending classes at Great Companions since our puppy was 9 weeks old. She has been through classes from Puppy Manners, Foundations, Advanced Manners, Control for Agility, Beginner & Advanced Rally, and has just started her first Scent Detectives class. All of the classes we have attended are organized and well run. The methods used by all trainers are based in science and research, non-force and positive reinforcement based. There is no quick fix or shortcuts, but you learn theories and methods to apply throughout your time with your dog. While the classes give you tons of guidance and Ali is amazing at trouble shooting problems with you, I think it is important to recognize that you get out what you put in to your dog and the classes! After you complete the "basics", there are numerous opportunities to try new things with your dog to keep both of you engaged. Both my dog and I love going to continue learning. It is also great to get to meet other dog owners and do some human socializing! We are very happy Great Companions customers!
