As a long time M and T customer who has always been very happy… there is a problem at the Selinsgrove branch. Don’t let Matt handle your case if you need a meeting unless you want to be stalled or screwed over. (His boss was very nice.) I tried to be nice about this at first, but upon reflection I’m kinda steamed.
I attempted to do a digital envelope budgeting system by having several M and T accounts so I could set money aside for different bills in separate accounts. It was falsely flagged as fraud. ? I was completely locked out of my banking app, at the gas station on E. ? Thank God it was one of those rare times I had cash! I went straight from there into a meeting with Matt at M and T to unblock my account, which he DID NOT DO even though I clearly explained the situation. He called a number right in front of me and didn’t do much talking that I remember. His boss asked him if he explained the situation to them and he lied and said that he did… right in front of me. I should have called him out right there, but I still had hope of getting this resolved with kindness. I do not remember him going to bat for me on that phone call whatsoever. (If he said anything whatsoever to them explaining the situation that I’m forgetting, the point is he DID NOT go to bat for me, even though I was sitting right in front of him and it was clearly not fraud. I’m not rich enough for that.?) The next day Matt informed me that all of my accounts would be closed and I could either pick up whatever funds were left (only a little over $30?) or else a check would be mailed.
They completely kicked me out of the bank ?. He informed me that I needed a new bank. I’m just a freakin house wife. I didn’t even have a lot of money in the bank! Would you even in your wildest dreams think someone was committing fraud with like $100?
I emailed his boss who said her hands we tied as the decision was made by the back office. So upon reflection I realize it was probably that lie that he told his boss that resulted in them kicking out a customer unfairly.
I had to go across the street and open an account at a bank that had nice staff who were competent and cared about their customers.
I later told a relative what happened, and they knew exactly who Matt was because they had had trouble with him before. That’s not my story to tell.
Anyway, I wish I had been warned. So I’m giving you guys that service.
I’m also hoping maybe someone from M and T will see this and ensure this employee either gets more training or else a different position that he is more suited to.

I had a TERRIBLE experience with this bank while cashing a check on Saturday. If people wonder why the M & T banks in Middleburg & Beaver Springs closed, I can tell them why based on this experience. I will be moving my mortgage ASAP. I have NEVER been more frustrated or humiliated in my life.
