I avoid a carnivore diet with a strong proclivity towards plant-based, but Schiff's has the world's best kielbasa IMHO. Originally from Scranton but now residing in our Gettysburg address ( I love saying that!), I've been ingesting kielbasa from Schiff's for as long as I remember. I was in the environs for family business and decided to pick up some "basa" and a few other items, thus dropped in. Be advised that the parking lot is straight out of Hades, is locked in and of insufficient size, and devilish to maneuver within and a challenge to pull out. You'll likely bump into other people or be bumped into, and navigating your shopping cart night not be easy if a Babci brigade had descended on the store prior to your arrival. The check out isles are a free for all, but cashiers are quite friendly for the most part, and hard-working and somewhat frazzled employees will offer assistance if asked. The prices are fair, the produce fresh, and the selection large. 4 stars doesn't mean I had a major problem with Schiffs, but just the parking lot knocked it down a star. My preference is for the fresh kielbasa, btw, and get some white horseradish and poppy seed roll while you're there, yum!

A One-of-a-Kind Market with CharacterUpon entering Schiff's, you're immediately struck by the lively atmosphere characteristic of a bustling marketplace. It’s evident from the myriad of reviews that Schiff's has cemented itself as a community cornerstone, especially known for its impressive selection of meats and deli offerings. As someone who appreciates the nuances of food quality and customer service, I can’t help but commend Schiff’s for their consistent quality in meat products. Whether you're looking for bulk family packages or specialty cuts, Schiff’s seems to have it all. The butchers are willing to slice to your preference, a service that harks back to a more personal era of food retail. The deli and hot food sections are nothing short of a treat. Frequent patrons often rave about the freshness of the hot deli and bakery items. From the chocolate cream pies that tease the palate with decadence to the succulent garlic chicken, it’s clear why the community keeps coming back. The ready-made meals and sides, although a hit or miss on rare occasions, generally uphold the standards one would expect from a reputed store.Staff interactions appear to paint a portrait of warmth, with employees making customers feel like part of the Schiff's family. This sense of belonging is a rarity in today's retail environment and should not go unappreciated. However, every rose has its thorn, and Schiff's is no exception. While the quality of food is typically praised, pricing and customer service experiences have been inconsistent. Some have voiced concerns about the store being on the pricier side, and encounters with less-than-cheerful staff have been noted, though they seem to be the exception rather than the rule. The store layout, described as "kinda tight quarters," may contribute to the frenetic energy, especially during peak hours. It's a reflection of Schiff's as a space that many seek out, despite its spatial constraints. Additionally, there have been isolated instances of concerns over food safety and presentation, such as unwrapped meats that require attention. For those seeking a curated shopping experience, Schiff’s may come across as a bit chaotic, but it’s this very trait that imbues the market with its unique charm. It's a place where the search for the perfect cut of meat or the freshest baked goods can turn into a social event. In summary, Schiff’s offers a rich tapestry of fresh foods, personable service, and community feel. While it may benefit from attention to customer service consistency and food presentation, these are overshadowed by the positive experiences of many loyal customers. For a newcomer or a regular, Schiff’s promises an experience that is both gratifying and, in some small ways, enchanting.

I love schiffs and I go there for my meat all the time, but today whoever sliced my coopers cheese did a horrible job. It’s all stuck together and I can’t get it apart! That’s ridiculous! Train your deli staff better!!!

If you like over priced fried food drowned in butter, frozen piggies, and Ms T perogies.. this is the store for you. Most recently I purchased 1 pound of Potato Salad for a Labor Day BBQ and the potatoes were not cooked. I also have purchase a few rings of Kilbasa to have it grow mold after 4 days in my fridge. The Meats are great, always Fresh! Why the staff in the Deli are always miserable is because they are underpaid and treated horribly by Management. Would you be happy if your boss cursed at you, belittled you, and tried to brush sexual harassment under the rug? I think not.

Bulk or family packages of meats that are pretty reasonable. Also smaller packs. May also get the ppl in butcher area for slicing and specialty cuts. We go for the fresh burger and bacon ends and pieces. ?

thought i would see what this store was like since i was visiting from out of town. too expensive on certain items. cashier looked miserable and didn't even smile or say hello to me. she tossed my items into the bag i brought with me. store lay out got pretty confusing with boxes being in the way and workers constantly moving items around the store. pretty small store too. most likely will not be visiting here again.

I like this market! The hot deli and bakery items are fresh and yummy! I purchased a chocolate cream pie that was too good! They have tons of meat selections in all sizes and giant sized can goods for families or businesses. I will return soon.

The quality of Schiffs deli and bakery have steadily gone downhill. It's a waste of money to shop these departments anymore. The scalloped potatoes are undercooked, the fried chicken is dried out and tough, and the brownies and cinnamon buns are BURNT and dried out, and the prices are out if sight. They should be ashamed to put such food out for sale. Apparently, they have a big turnover of help in the kitchen because nothing is as good as it used to be, probably because they'd do not want to pay for quality chefs. I will not be purchasing the poor quality food that Schiffs sells any more.
