I used to work at Cabrini University (formerly Cabrini College) and like any other school, it is not for everyone. I read Patty's review and it amazes me that this individual is clueless as to what attending a university should entail, whether it is Catholic or "secular." Universities tend to reflect various societal issues, which is why many universities have a Black Student Union, Latino/Hispanic organizations, LGBTQ organizations, etc. It provides an opportunity for students of various ethnic backgrounds, religious backgrounds and sexual orientation to have a voice. Cabrini is big on social justice and students must take classes in which social issues are discussed. I believe it helps to build well-rounded individuals. Roughly 50% of students who attend Cabrini commute, while the other half live on campus. A majority of the students come from the greater Philadelphia region (PA, NJ, DE, etc.), as well as New York City and Maryland. If you're looking for a party school, Cabrini is not the school to attend. Classes are fairly small, and so is the campus. The best option for someone considering Cabrini is to visit during the school year. If you decide to attend Cabrini, take advantage of various opportunities and get involved on campus.

So, I think others who care about social justice and other issues of societal importance should read Patty's review as a positive thing. Ensuring that the LGBT Community is not silenced is definitely a 5 star kind of environment for me. My connection to Cabrini is as a social worker and educator that has been and will be continuing to utilize the campus's beautiful space for continuing education. I am not Catholic but I was Catholic school educated and I can say that Cabrini's commitment to service learning and social justice makes it a GENUINE Catholic institution committed to what helping those in need. We have found the administrators to be very helpful and willing to work with us to accommodate us.

@Patty a "real" Catholic education. Wow so you are homophobic, your kids must love you. Cabrini College doesn't need your kind of homophobic trash. It's called civil rights Patty maybe do some research on that before you fill out a yelp review smh. Bye.

We toured this school for my oldest child. It's a pretty campus.....wooded.....felt safe and secluded. Unfortunately this is what I would call a "faux" Catholic School. When we were there I picked up the school newspaper......the newspaper was dominated by 3 articles written on LGBT issues! When I approached the school counselor, he said that the school could not control what the students wrote. What complete and utter BS! I'm fairly confident if one of the students wanted to write a pro-skinhead article the school would find a way to prevent it from being printed. If you want your kid to have a "real" Catholic education, don't waste your money here!

I a recent UNCW alumni, and from start to finish have purchased/rented my books from these guys-and not once have I had an issue with them. That said, and with all due respect to the above review, I honestly cannot see how they got such a big chip on their shoulder. The points they brought up are valid concerns, but if they had actually taken the time to ask one of the people who work there (all of whom I have found to be friendly and helpful when help was needed), about them-like I have-then they would have few things to have issue with. I will admit that I have several friends who work there, BUT all this means is that I have more insight regarding their situation. I am not simply covering for them. That said I would like to address the above reviewer and their points. Blocked emails: It is not a matter of "changing" anything. UNCW (specifically the on campus bookstore) has actively blocked all access to course listings, students' emails, and any changes that may be made by a prof. to their course. In short the campus store has done everything in their power to blind them. Why? Well it could be due to the fact that they offer better prices, or if nothing else match it to the penny. Notifications of rentals due: I, and everyone I know of who has rented from them, have been asked for their email for the EXPRESS purpose of notifying them as their rentals come due. Maybe you should, I dunno, check your spam filters? Money grubbing: Like I said before: they will AT THE LEAST match other stores prices-and I'm pretty sure they throw in an extra %10 off as well. Really, they have flippin signs advertising that everywhere. So, my advice to the above reviewer is to GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT before you go smearing the reputation of a good store and the people who work their butts off there. Seriously, you're in college. Are your papers pure conjecture as well?
