Staff is rude and manager (dirty blonde hair in her 30’s, Caucasian) does not know how to be culturally sensitive or have skills and knowledge on diversity, equity and inclusion. This manager needs training on how to deal with HUMAN BEINGS, especially the elderly w/ disability of any kind.
My mom went into store on Friday 6/28/24 w/ her emotional support dog (yorkie/poodle, 4lbs, very tiny) and after my mom spent quite a bit of time in store collecting the items she was going to purchase, manager had followed her around the last 10min before kicking my mom out. My mother was told that only service dogs were allowed to be in store w/ owner and emotional support dog was not sufficient enough.
After my mother shared that her dog was an emotional support dog, she persisted in asking my mom about her disability (if any and what kind). This seems like a huge violation to be asking what disability my mother has whether service or emotional support dog. You should never ask a persons diagnosis in either case, hence why papers/forms are completed properly and tags are provided to such animals and owners.
My mother just froze after panicking out of fear she’d get in trouble (being Hispanic and speaks clear English), she left her things and walked out. As soon as she got in her car she brokedown crying and felt humiliated by the demeanor and conduct in which manager had approached her.
I just found out about it right now! Being part of my job to advocate for people throughout many years in a nonprofit myself in the social service field, I felt it only right that I advocate for my mother as well and let others know about this particular Salvation Army right in Quakertown 309 and Pumping Station Rd.
Suggestions:
-have clear policies on your store website defining what dogs/pets are allowed into store and why that particular one.
-train your staff especially managers on how to be more sensitive towards the population they serve and cultural awareness and beyond.
If you aren’t a people person and it’s just another job, perhaps you’re in the wrong place. Don’t violate people’s rights in asking them their personal health issues that are not your concern. You represent a nonprofit therefore are a reflection of their leaders, staff, mission, vision and it’s not just local or state, it’s nationally.
I am appalled, baffled, embarrassed for my mom and anyone that goes into that store that are of a vulnerable population no matter what community you’re visiting from. You don’t know peoples stories or life experiences, even journey to than disrespect them. After reading other reviews in other platforms about this location, store and staff, it only made sense to backup another example of continued behavior after even months of people’s post.
My opinion and fact of my mother’s situation made worse! Next steps will be taking it to corporate and government disabilities office. I have no problems making several calls to people in Harrisburg in Capital building, DHS/DHHS as I do collaborate w them already.

Good finds but the workers are stapling the tickets on the cloths and ruining the fabrics, it's also a safety issue because open staples stab your skin and fingers.

This place used to be great. Now it’s a joke. You can regularly go in here and find things priced higher than the clearance price that’s on the tag from the store it originally came from. Take your donations and business to a thrift store that actually cares about helping the community instead of trying to profit off the poor.

This thrift store needs to be demolished. It's big but absolutely disgusting. It smells completely rank in there as soon as you open the door. The clothing is not organized by size, just color so you spend hours going through every isle. Most of the clothes they have there have rips and stains and are completely stretched out. And god forbid if you bring in a tote bag to use for your purchases instead of their nasty, rusted squeaky broken carts cause they'll accuse you of stealing. The staff are so rude and judgemental.......Whereas Goodwill is an amazing Thrift store, Quakertown PA Salvation Army is a complete dump.

You find the neatest nick nacks..and the sales on wendsdays multiple colors on discount is a must check out!!!You take your time and look thru racks you find some name brand clothing!!

large women with dark hair, wears gloves, heavy makeup nasty and rude. Female manager with glasses asked how i got to the store...i said bus...her response "no buses come here." Why did you ask me the question?!? Rude and condescending staff. I returned my items and left. Will not be returning.

Closed Sundays (and Mondays). Very inconvenient for people that work and can only make it there on weekends.

It's very rare you find anything of use here. I honestly don't get the appeal of this place and how the lot is always full. It's nothing but clothing that's seen better days and random stuff that's broken or missing parts.

All is good except they don't provide a public restroom. It is neat and clean with a health pool staff.
