March 2024 by Rob S.
Opened a new savings and checking account on March 9th. On March 22 I did a mobile check deposit for almost $1300 from another bank. I noticed 5 days later it hasn't posted to my account. So, I called my branch today March 29th and asked what the problem is. They tell me there is a 10 day hold on the deposit because I opened a new account! They tell me, there's nothing they can do about it. I was told deposits take 2-3 days to clear. They've left me with no money at all! Infuriating! No one ever told me about a 10 day hold or I would have cashed the check that was given to me by the other bank. Now, my bills go unpaid, and I have to go a week with no money. This is a disgrace! I can understand stopping a withdrawal but a deposit. Whose money, is it anyway? Pissed off big time!

I've been a member since birth and it has significantly gone downhill in the past 5 years. They've recently "Upgraded their System" and it has been nothing but issue since. 4 business days to process a payment to another lender, multiple days to full access deposits. Just absolutely awful, it feels as if my money is being held hostage. I know I (as well as many others) am actively looking for another financial institution.

Only 1 star because that's the lowest possible choice. Customer service is absolutely terrible there. They speak kindly but their words mean nothing because they don't actually care to help. If you use PayPal or other cash apps, DO NOT use this bank! Every time I use PayPal i have to wait 3-7 business days for my money to transfer even though it's immediate for any other bank. The Pennsburg manager/assistant (don't remember) told me that since they're a small bank they don't have the same systems as the bigger banks so that's why their transfers take longer. Then i was told that i can pay $25 to stop the transfer if i wanted to stop it. They refused to even waive the $25 fee even though i was already told that I'm stuck waiting 3 days because they don't have the proper systems to run a decent bank. The minute this is sorted out i am deleting my account with them and going to a real bank that can afford to get the proper software and who actually treats their customers with respect

Have been a longtime member of TCAFCU. Mortgages, Equity loans, car loans new and used, and all manner of deposits withdrawals wire transfers, etc. I've found the people there personable and willing to explain things when needed. Have had credit card thefts and issues with cards being hijacked. The people there were quick to freeze my cards issue new ones and deal with necessary reporting requirements. I've found the rates reasonable for their variety of loans. Highly recommend this credit Union and its people.

I am totally speculating here, but I think maybe this is the last resort for terrible employees who have been fired from every other bank in the area for mistreating customers. If you are considering Tri-County, you may want to consider putting your money under your mattress instead. The customer service here is absolutely abhorrent and they regularly make errors. For example: I deposited a CASHIERS CHECK into my account. The teller told me that there would be a 2 day hold on the money, which I thought was perfectly acceptable. 48 hours later I look at the poor excuse for an online banking "app" (term used loosely), and see that the money is still not available. I call customer "service" (again, term used loosely), and ask why the check is not available. The rep tells me that it's an error, and the money is available. She advises me that I can make a withdrawal at the branch. 2 hours later I'm at the branch trying to withdraw less than half the value of the check. I am asked to wait FOREVER and then the Branch Mismanager (yes, you read that correctly), named Dora, came to the window and told me that SHE HERSELF had pulled the check and was going to hold it for another week. Of course, I wasn't going to accept this, and told her that this was their mistake. She admitted that it was their mistake but still refused to let me make the withdrawal from my CERTIFIED FUNDS deposit. I then ask them to just give me the check back. Again, Dora The Explorer Of Ways To Tick Off Customers tells me no. At this point I ask for her supervisor who she tells me is not available. She offered me his card. So, I had to threaten to sit in the drive thru until I reached him. Magically, he picked up his phone on the first ring. Finally, he approved this withdrawal but advised me that in fact the balance of my CERTIFIED check would be held for another week. The rude and unprofessional staff at this institution embarrassed me and treated me like a second class citizen. It shouldn't take this kind of work to make a withdrawal. Additionally, it's not ok to make an error and make the customer suffer. I am now closing my account. This terrible organization has the typical, old school, "we have your money", condescending attitude. They don't understand that they are a tiny, two branch credit union. Small fish in a big pond for sure. The staff is rude, and very obviously lacks integrity. I certainly can't trust my money with a place like this. If you need a credit union in the area, I'd recommend one of these: Diamond Superior Citadel American Heritage Trumark Discovery Anywhere OTHER THAN TRI COUNTY

With the recent WAWA breach I figured it would be a good idea to get a new debut card. I had gone into the bank to get a new card and was told a new card was mailed. It has been two weeks and I have not received the new card. I called the bank about getting a new card and both the person who answers the phone and the the rep who took my call were both very rude because I asked for a new card. I was told they have issued thousands of cards already and I would have to wait for their third party vendor to mail my card. Regarding the breach, I was told to monitor my account. I have been banking here for over 30 years and did not expect a bank not to provide customer service. Will be in the search for a new bank.

I just closed a few accounts with Tri county that I have had for 8 or 10 years- I recently moved away and wanted a new bank close to my new home. I've never had a problem with them. They've always been so wonderful to deal with. Any time I needed help someone was happy to give it. Cody Parker (the assistant branch manager) helped me to close my account this week and even that was pleasant and easy as pie. Thanks tri-county!

I had to write review after seeing this rating come up. I have banked with TCAFCU for over 30 years, since I was a little girl. I don't miss the days of standing in line when I got paid, but their service has always been great. They also don't charge ridiculous fees or minimums. I have had car loans and home equity loans through the years. Rates and process has always been fair. Yes, even when I got declined once for a loan. It wasn't for their lack of trying; it was a bad time in the economy and divorce had put me in a difficult situation. Their service and staff have always been friendly. I rarely visit the bank now that they have a mobile app that deposits any checks. Recently they helped me fix a stupid mistake I made, with no charges and they called ME to let me know what I had done. A big bank never would have taken the time.

I went to purchase a used car, of which would require my first auto loan. I have been a member of TCAFCU for over 15 years, and their website says they offer a "First Time Auto Buyers Program" so figured it was a good start to see what they could offer me. I applied and was approved for the full $15,000 loan, with NO co-signer. Unfortunately, things fell through with the car(private seller), and the loan expired within the 30 days. Less than 20 days later, I reapplied for the same loan and they only approved my for 80% of the same loan. When asking my loan specialist, why the difference, she had said it was because they outsource their underwriters and that they had internal staff changes. She said it had NOTHING to do with my credit history etc. (my credit score is a 711 !!!) When asking my loan specialist about the First Time Auto Buyer Program, she had no idea what it even was. She needed to put me on hold to find out, then preceded to tell me that "it wasn't really a program, just saying they work with first time auto loan applicants and may not require a co-signer or lower interest rates for those with no previous auto history". I then proceeded to tell her, that that is false advertisement, because they in fact were penalizing me for coming back to apply for an auto loan with them. If they approved me less than a month ago, for the full loan amount, and then only 80% of the loan 3 weeks later. (AGAIN, not having anything to do with me or my credit history - just internal staff changes). After being a member of this credit union for so long, you would think they would want to help. Instead, I am probably better off going through a dealership for a better interest rate and full loan approval. I do not recommend this credit union. I will be pulling my account and transferring it elsewhere after the lack of patronage.
