“Great butcher. Highly recommend the 50/50 Brisket-short rib burgers.
I sprinkle some Montreal seasoning on them and grill away. Do you yourself a favor and up your grilling game with a real burger from Carl Venezia. Be a neighborhood cookout champion.”

“I ate a meatball hoagie from here in like 2011 that I still think about. I have never before or since found one that slapped that hard - could not believe those out-of-the-warming-pot meatballs and fresh sliced prov could make that magic but it did. Also tried my friend’s sandwich which was the Italian (as advertised, a true classic - hard to find them like that anywhere but the old delis now) but I was so lost in the sauce of the meatballs that it didn’t matter. Also, the guy behind the counter? So helpful, so kind, so clearly proud of the place and the product.”

“Really clean and really great prices for lunch meat and oxtails! The mayonnaise is astronomically high but other than that it's a one stop shop for a good ingredients to make a home cooked meal”

“My husband and I started going to Joe's about 15 years ago. It has recently been sold, and seems to be doing really well. There are a couple of nasty reviews here, but I think they are unfair and untrue. The shelves are fully stocked, the service is excellent and the meat as fresh and well priced as ever. Yes, it's a small place, it was always a small place. But they will do whatever is necessary to give you the cut of meat that you want as well as the weight that you want (so I don't have to buy 2 lbs when I only need 1 1/2 lbs) and at a better price than the supermarket. Go see for yourself; don't listen to the nasties.”

“South Philly quality Italian hoagies in the suburbs. Everything I've ordered has been great, but my favorite is "Sam's Deluxe" with everything on it. The top-quality mortadella and super thin-sliced sharp provolone make it an exceptional sandwich. I walk around and pick out Italian specialty groceries while they make my sandwich. Love that they have so many hard-to-find pasta shapes and lots of prepared cook-at-home dinners (like stuffed shells, lasagna, parmigiana, etc). Only one negative thing to say: sometimes I feel a little bit like the staff is judging my shopping choices, but it's easy to ignore them. Cashiers are always super friendly.”

“Lancaster Meat Market has the leanest cuts of meat that I've seen in Philly! They do fish, chicken, lamb - everything. And they have a full set of grocery shelves with condiments, sauces, spices - as well as a big freezer. You can get everything for a family barbecue or company picnic. They have 16 meat combo deals, and a bunch of Deli deals and even a breakfast special. Most important: nice people, too!”
