We took our cat here because he started having difficulty urinating at 6pm last Friday night. We could barely find the place because it’s set back off the road and very poorly lit. It didn’t get better when we got inside, and there was barely any lighting. They require you to pay $300 up front before even assessing your pet. They took our cat back and put us in a room. The tech came in not too long afterwards and said the good thing is there was no blockage. About an hour later the vet came in and said there was a blockage and a $3000-$4000 surgery was his best option but she couldn’t guarantee the blockage wouldn’t reoccur and we might be back in a few days with him needing surgery again. She said for that reason, some people choose to euthanize. After unnecessarily going through all the payment options because we had already told her that surgery was not an option, she said she could give him pain meds and a relaxant to help him urinate, but if that didn’t work, we would have to decide between the surgery or euthanizing him. We opted for the meds and then waited an additional 2 hours before he was discharged. We were there almost 6 hours and didn’t get to see him at all. When we got home we realized they had taken his blanket out of his carrier and never gave it back to us. If the reception area or parking lot were adequately lit, we may have noticed that the blanket was missing. I ended up having to give the cat pain medication once on Saturday morning and the relaxant twice on Saturday. He started urinating and has been fine ever since. I am mortified to think that had we agreed to the surgery, it would’ve been completely unnecessary. I think they should’ve opted with suggesting the meds first and if that didn’t work discussing the surgery route. I am highly disappointed in our experience and would never recommend, nor return to this place.

Dr. Ruane was fantastic with our boy who was in crisis earlier today. He really was beyond compassionate and calming to both us and our sweet 12 year old pup. Thank you Dr. Ruane and staff, Jesse seems to be doing much better. We are so grateful for you.

$1600 to euthanize my dog after trying to help her for 30+ hours (and $2,500 worth of medication)… totally shameful. This place capitalizes on euthanizing your pet.

I just want to say this. If you do take your animal here DO NOT DO NOT deal with Dr. Maggie Lynch. I took my baby guy there I told her all his symptoms and that his breathing wasn't right. For some reason she only cared about this blood work for 350.00 not to mention had no compassion at all. She told me she didn't know what was wrong with him 4 hundred and some dollars later. I ended up taking my guy home and for almost 2 days he suffered. I took him back and a different Dr. Was on Thank God she immediately had him on oxygen and ran a pic line in him. She was excellent and she cared most of all. In the end all he needed was an X-ray that was it, which was only 150.00. I ended up having to put my guy down and my heart is completely shattered but this lady who took care of us the second time was very compassionate and cared. She didn't only care about money like Dr. Lynch did. This Lynch even put in my paperwork work about money and him not getting the 350.00 blood work that HE DID NOT NEED! In the end instead of an 800.00 vet bill that I did pay. I should of only had to pay 187.00 and 150.00. Had I of gotten the second Dr. The first time (I wish I remembered her name) my baby guy wouldn't of suffered almost 2 days not being able to breathe and drowning in his own fluid. She just didn't care she showed me that it was all about 350.00 blood work. I don't understand why she didn't want to care for my baby guy. Like I said if u do go just make sure you Don't get Dr. Lynch. Maggie Lynch if you don't like your job then find another one!!!!! The rest of the ppl in that office have compassion 100 percent but Lynch does not at all!!!!!

I have nothing but kind words to say! They took care of my sweet Monty, made sure he was comfortable, called me with all updates and let me know all the chaos he was causing! I'm so grateful for the staff, they truly care about animals and gave me the peace of mind I needed.Monty is now home and happy ❤️

Amazing doctors and staff! Always the best care for your pets. The one female technician had such an infectious passion and positive energy about her. It was emotional ❤️?

if i could i would give this hospital a negative star. they refused my dog after exclaiming to them that he ate an excess amount of chocolate and they insisted to call the poison control (which btw is $100 a call) and was on the phone with them talking to an automated robot for 45 min while my dog was still not being taken in. At this point he was on the verge of seizing and they still refused him. This is an ER and there is no protocol for bot taking in a dog that’s about to have fatal conditions ( and that was expressed). They were also beyond rude and explained that ny dog was banned. what kind of veterinarian bans aninals from being helped? definitely not a place i would take your pets because they clearly do not care for their health. thank god she got treated at another vet clinic for half the price and with 100% more love. Also the vet clinic said this was unprofessional and the protocols they stated were unheard of. I would watch out if i were you if you’re animal is in need for emergency care!!! disgusting veterinarian and disgusting doctors.

Update: After reading the response from the owner, I called and asked to speak with someone regarding billing. I explained the situation, that I was calling as requested by the Google review response. The receptionist placed me on hold to speak with the manager, then came back to tell me that the manager said, "Those responses are automatically generated."I have changed my review to 1-star and I would recommend that future customers be wary of Northeast Veterinary Referral Hospital's shady practices and poor communication. Hopefully they are better at veterinary medicine than customer service.Initial review: After my regular vet discovered a mass in my cat's abdomen, she recommended this hospital to have an ultrasound w/ fine needle biopsy to have the tissue tested. I made an appointment, specifically requesting the biopsy. After the consult, I was informed that only an ultrasound was performed (for $668), and that a biopsy required a second visit (for $3400-4000).I believe I should have been informed prior to the appointment that the requested service would not be rendered. I have called and spoken with management at the hospital, who was polite but firm in refusing my request for even a partial refund, and advised that I would need to dispute the charge with my credit card company.Everyone there is very polite and helpful, but I believe their customer service practices and communication need to be dramatically improved.

We were in emergency a couple days ago but they denied our cat because they were full already. Next day when we took her back they gave us the wrong diagnosis saying that all she needed was to eat more and the hospital gave us something for anorexia then they proceeded to send us back home. Our cat's condition got worse the next day and it turn out she had a blockage that resulted to be fatal for our cat. They gave us two options for our cat: A $3000 surgery or euthanasia, we didn't have that money so they referred another hospital that was cheaper in Danville 1 hour away from us, they went through the surgery process and told us that the surgery was a success and that there was a possibility for her to recover but she sadly passed away a couple hours ago with no explanation. All this place care is about money
