Despite some neighbors complaining about the new ownership, tom Fridays has been and still remains super great. The staff has a lot of carryover, if that's important to you, but the new people are great too.
I don't know how many places in Pittsburgh you can order whatever cut of meat you want and get it that day. For my dad's birthday, they cut up 6 filet mignons to the thickness I wanted right in front of me. They've done special orders for me: they got me a whole pork belly for barbecue, and they ordered me a rib roast for Christmas dinner. They have great specials on wings and freezer meats all the time. Plus, they have an amazing ground beef blend, I don't make burgers with anything else. I once drove 6 hours with 10 pounds of their burger blend for an out of town cookout because I knew they wouldn't have as good as beef as Tom Fridays.
Have the new owners added slot machines? Yes. Have they changed the layout? Yes. Are they still as involved, engaged, and friendly as Tom was? YES.
This place is the best butcher shop in Pittsburgh, and there's no doubt about it.

Deli cheese was old and got moldy 3 days before the sell by date. Little produce, oranges looked very old. Don't bother going here, they got it at Kuhn's, at a better price. The gambling machines are wasting electricity and space.

My grandmother been ordering from them for years, especially since there the closet deli to her home, they deliver in which they empolyees are really kind enough to help bring in her items, sometimes they'll miss one or two items but not everyone is perfect. My problem are with the reviews this place is expensive compared to the gianteagle that's also in this neighborhood. I'm the type of person who compare prices before shopping and this deli was always the most expensive. There milk for a gallon of 2% is $4.39 and Rite Aid up the street a gallon of 2% milk is $3.28. This deli is expensive if you don't know your locate stores and know how to compare prices. I honestly don't agree how they handle there meat, when I walked pass one day they delivery truck was parked in front of the store they had a whole big Rib, is what it looked like, it was just on the truck floor bare, it wasn't wrapped up in some type of plastic or nothing. I don't know how a Deli is suppose to transport there meat products but if I know it was like that I would have been stopped eating any type of there meat cause you don't know what there doing to the rest. I regret on not taking a picture, but next time I see something like that I surely will. Other then that this store employees are very kind, just it's exspensive.

Tom Fridays store was founded several decades ago, and it sells local farms’ beef, pork, chicken, and other meats as well as some dairy foods, produce, pantry foods, etcetera.
I shopped in this store one time. Three employees promptly and politely served me. I bought filet mignon. My husband said that the pieces were small and had some fat, but they were tender and flavorful.

I am a long-time Tom Friday’s customer - at least 20 years. I used to always go there to buy the good stuff and had help from great meat-cutters and most often from Tom himself. The shop was vibrant, the staff friendly and helpful, the meats absolutely top-notch.
I was sick when Tom sold this place, but even sicker when I walked in today to see how it went from a vibrant neighborhood market to a run-down failing bodega. Where there used to be groceries, there are now poker machines, empty shelves and coolers, and just a general air of decay. None of Tom’s staff are there anymore. I hope you got a lot of money, Tom; the wreck that still bears your name is an absolute slander.

Tom's was the best butcher shop around. Now the new owners from the Coraopolis Cash Mart whose store in Coraopolis recently failed a health inspection due to severe high risk violations. 350 lbs of meat was discarded, moldy and spoiled heads of cauliflower, several oxidized chunks of salami that were partially open and expired baby formula. Six blocks of soft cheese that had expired a year ago were still in the deli walk-in cooler, the report said. Other high-risk violations noted the meat department’s prep table, grinder, shelving, floors, dishes and walk-in cooler being covered in raw food debris; shelves in the customer display area covered in old food debris and black mold; mold on the floors; and fruit flies observed resting on clean cutting boards. Not saying this is going on here, but it doesn't bode well for their business practices

Woke? In what universe? Many thanks to the dummies who knocked this place. I had never heard of it and just dropped a bit of cash for two fantastic looking steaks and a couple blue cheese burgers that I might break down and eat raw because I can’t wait until tonight.
AND… Amazing service!! Well done.
Edit: If we’ve had better steaks, it’s been a long time. And those NY Strips were cheaper here than the grocery stores where we normally buy our meat.

I was just told to visit this shop because I’m over supporting big chain stores— NOT DISAPPOINTED AT ALL! It’s a small drive but well worth it!!!

Great folks and great products! Sad to see all the hate, some of these reviews are just from racist people who can't handle change! The new owners were hand-picked by Tom for a reason. Please support this small business and its lovely employees + owners!

A real butcher shop. They bring in hanging beef and cut everything on site. The butchers are very accommodating to custom requests. They have a special ground blend of shortrib, chuck, sirloin and brisket. It can't be beat for meatballs, hamburger and meatloaf.
Go there!

Great place to shop - they have THE best peppered bacon. Everything I've bought has been top quality and who doesn't love to support local businesses?
