Great sandwiches. There is a pound of meat on these. It is takeout only. The area is very busy. It might be different to find parking at times.

Certainly the best grocery store for its size in the city! One of the best foodie destinations in Pittsburgh.Updating to say incredible Pastrami and potato pancakes. New space is nice too.

Great new York style pastrami sandwich! Really liked it. Wish they offered a coarser rye but overall very good. Nice lady runs it. They should get a little table for the sidewalk so people could eat there easier!

I don't want to give a one-star review, particularly because: 1) The staff was very friendly, 2) I appreciate the niche they are trying to fill in the community. But I was served a sandwich (a very expensive sandwich) which was essentially inedible. It's pastrami, I get it, there's going to be fat & grease. But in the less than 5 minutes from when I left the restaurant to when I got to my office, the meat in my sandwich had completely soaked through the bread, soaked through the sandwich wrapper and almost through the paper bag. What I could salvage had very good flavor (particularly the brown mustard), but this was no way to serve your customers. To the owner's response:My criticism was sincere. so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume your reply also was, even though the tone seemed glib. You missed my point. An extra wrapper would not remotely address the problem. The meat/meat juice in the sandwich you served me completely soaked through and disintegrated the bread. It was a matter of lazy preparation and/or just having overly greasy meat. If the meat was hand-carved to order, that might not have been a problem. And at over 20 bucks per sandwich, that wouldn't be an unreasonable expectation. At that price, I should have asked for my money back. In fact, at a quality establishment, I would expect that the proprietor would offer it.I was very disappointed.

yay! SHM now has amazing pastrami and corned beef sandwiches. They may seem pricey, but one sandwich will feed two! Look forward to the addition of salads, lox, bagels!!!

Is the human body designed to consume 1lbs of meat in one sitting?I don't know the answer to that question, but boy was the pastrami sandwich delicious!!

Big fan of this store. I discovered them the same time I discovered Three Brothers Bagels (highly recommend them as well) as this store is one of their pickup locations. They may be a bit more expensive than your typical market but that's expected since most their products are locally made. So far it's 3 for 3 with the items I have bought here so far; Three Brothers Bagels, Pierogie Plus pierogies, and Marburger egg nog. To put the icing on the cake the ladies at the register have always been welcoming with a smile on their face.
