I am shocked by all these negative reviews. I've lived in the Royal York for almost 2 1/2 years and love it. The apartments are spacious and bright (especially if you have south-facing windows. They actually seem to be in the process of remodeling the units and there are a mix of newly remodeled units that are very nice but also some that haven't yet been remodeled. The closets are huge too. The building is also quiet (granted I'm hearing-impaired and probably don't hear every noise that occurs). Common are also kept clean and in good shape and they are regularly undertaking projects to improve those areas. They also generally respond quickly to maintenance requests and other inquiries. Really a nice place to live.

Lived here throughout my four years of dental school. Nice, spacious apartments for a good price. Perfect distance from the med/dental school or Presby and easy transit. Christina and everyone at the office are always friendly and helpful. Any problems you have in the apartment are usually fixed quickly and professionally. Neighbors are all great. Would recommend if you are looking for a large apartment in Oakland.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND LIVING HERE TO ANYONE! I had MOUSE in my apartment multiple times and unfortunately property manager did not take this seriously. My friends who live in the same building had similar problems. You can see mouse traps in the garbage area.

DO NOT LIVE IN THIS PLACE!! I had MOUSE INFESTATION 3 times in this apartment! Property managers did not take it seriously and it recurred 3 times! Two of my friends who live in the same building had similar mouse problem. I would not recommend Royal York to anyone!
