Edit: It has now been six days since I was promised my refund.. for the fourth time. It was stated that “it will take up to 5 days to hit your account.” No money in sight! Highly disappointed.
Over the course of a few weeks, I had to call MJ Auto six times for something as simple as an inspection. I was drawn to this business because it was closest to me and the reviews were seemingly stellar. Unfortunately the experience was not stellar at all.
First I’d like to give credit to the tech I spoke to on the phone before I picked the car up after hours because atleast he was honest, and told me what the issues were and that I could fix them at home if I’d like. However one of the issues that they diagnosed was wrong. They stated it was the valve cover gasket leaking, and they quoted me around $100 to fix it (which is reasonable.) It infact was the oil pump seal that was bad, (I replaced it myself) as the oil was pooling on the right side of the engine, not the left. It’s one of the most common problems on 5SFEs. However since I didn’t pay them to fix it, albeit fix it wrong, no harm no foul.
For the record I don’t like to complain. People make mistakes. So one little problem won’t ruin my impression.
What I do have a problem with, is the seemingly lack of care in general. First, the keys to my car were just sitting in the visor. This is common practice but my car was left unlocked?? Anybody could’ve just driven away. My registration and insurance with my full name and address were sitting on the passenger seat… right next to my garage door opener.
Next I was billed $11.00 for the inspection stickers, but my car failed inspection. No biggie. Since I’d already paid online, I called them up, and they told me they’d refund it. Nothing else.
A few days pass, and I check my bank to see if it had come through. It didn’t
Called them up the next day, and I was told I needed to give them my card number so they could refund me, even though there was no mention of this before. I did as I was told and the tech said he’d get it done by the end of the day. Fast forward to now, a day a half later. No refund in sight. I’m tired of calling them up.
It’s just $11, it’s not a big deal, right? But all these little things keep stacking and it’s really soured my impression of MJ Auto. I really wanted to like this place, and support a local business that’s close to me. Do better!

I highly recommend MJ Automotive. They are thorough and honest. They do everything possible to work with your schedule and go above and beyond with service.

Brought my car here on a recommendation from a friend after a Chevy Dealer quoted me 1.2k for a brake and rotor change to pass inspection because the rotors had "some rust." After getting my brakes changed I brought my car here for inspection. They took care of everything for me and were fast and took great care of my car. Absolutely will be back in the future for any of my car needs

My car overheated on the way up to Pittsburgh to visit family and friends. I live out of state. The overheating started in Summersville, WV. I stopped at an Advanced Auto and refilled my coolant reservoir. However, it was still overheating while going up the steep hills in WV trying to maintain the 70 MPH (@ 3-4K RPMs to maintain speed).
My friend suggested this place. Since I was in town visiting everyone, my schedule was pretty tight and it was a short week for them due to Memorial Day. MJ Automotive promptly was able to take a look at my car. I appreciated their willingness to take a look on a tight timeline. They were VERY thorough and checked fans, coolant levels, oil system, no codes, etc. They were not able to find the issue and said that I will make it home. We talked about thermostat (again not throwing a code). After the call about the thermostat, I did some research looking at cars with the similar issue I was having... 4 out of 5 sites all changed out their thermostat. I called back and asked MJ Automotive to change the thermostat. MJ Automotive was focused on details and bought a thermostat from NAPA so that when I got back to my home state I could replace under warranty if needed. After my travels home, the replacement of the thermostat appeared to have fixed the problem.
I am really appreciative that MJ Automotive took me in, were very thorough in their investigation of the problem, straightforwardness, willing to work on a short timeline, etc. They did not make up a fix for the car. They were transparent in not being able to find an issue. I recommend this place for your vehicle needs!

We were in Pittsburgh from out of town for a concert, car broke down at a gas station, none of the usual tricks worked so insurance company covered the tow to MJ Automotive Service Center. I called in the AM explained situation and they started working on it. We got there and it was looking like the fuel pump and everywhere they looked was super expensive so they got the cheapest but it was going to be awhile. While they waited they took the seats out and saw that the wires to the fuel pump had been chewed by some rodent. They replaced the wires and the car started running fine. He looked at me when he came in and said you're good to go. I asked how much we owed and he said nothing we like to help people!!! Not only did they not put a part in we didn't need but they didn't even charge us for the hassle and the wire replacement!!!! If we were from the area this would be the mechanic I would go to for all my car troubles hands down!!!! Good honest people are hard to find, but this place not only has that, but they have compassionate people who went the extra mile and didn't even make us pay a cent!!! All of Pittsburgh PA and surrounding areas need to frequent this place!!!

MJ has been great. I have been going to them for 10+ years now and I am never disappointed with their service or their prices. I will continue to go with them as long as I am able.

I have to thank the owner or whoever it was that helped my wife on Friday 22, 2024. She must have hit a huge pothole and blew out the side of our tire. She just came out of the hospital after receiving injections at the infusion center and was unable to change her tire. MJ took her in and threw the donut spare on for her at (no cost). Nice to know that there are good people and businesses left in this world. God Bless you guys and thank you so much. If we lived closer, you would have my business at all times.

Love taking my vehicles to MJ’s. Mike and Chris are very outgoing and willing to take and answer questions about my vehicles as well as provide top notch service. I drive 2010 and 2006 vehicles and they run smooth and i credit the expertise at MJ’s for the longevity of my vehicles.

They show open discrimination against migrants. I changed the tires on January 15, the appointment was scheduled for January 16, I didn’t miss my appointment. They just decided to deceive me and take more money. I don't recommend contacting them
