A very great place to get oysters with a unique atmosphere, and very friendly staff. However, their hours on their website, conflict in several places, and also conflict with the signage on the front door of the establishment. Recently went to get oysters on a Sunday at 2:30, to find them closed. The sign on the door since they’re open from 11 to 4 on Sunday. The sign in the window says they serve brunch from 11 to 2 on Sunday.as for the real hours? Who’s to say.

My mom, my son and I came to Merchant on Friday (2/16) night. Merchant Oyster is pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty...pretty good.We sat upstairs and our waiter was great! Really friendly and welcoming. He had a lot of patience chatting with my son and that means a lot because my son is very talkative. ?The vibe at Merchant is great. It's eclectic and warm and welcoming. The food was awesome. The warm lobster roll with butter was heavenly. And the crab cake sandwich was so fresh and flavorful. The plain mac and cheese was good. It's definitely a nice option for kids. I recommend trying the potato salad. It was crisp and refreshing making it a nice accompaniment to the seafood. We'll definitely be back.

The food was a bit too salty, but the service was good. If you’re looking for drinks and seafood in Pittsburgh, you can still go there. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh doesn’t have many good seafood options.

Stick with the oysters and soups, that’s where this place does well. Also watch for shell fragments in your oysters.

The boil was salty and honestly i don’t know what they were trying to do. Complete waste - they just poured a ton of old bay on it and served it to me with no butter or anything. The raw oysters seemed fresh and if i go back I’d only eat oysters. Everything besides the oysters tasted as if it was made in an easy baked oven.

Really love this place so much the service is always so great and the food is phenomenal. A little disappointed in the size of the hot lobster roll today. My girlfriend and I usually split one and one other entree but the roll today was only about 4 inches long for $28.. but honestly other than that love how fresh everything tastes and love their bar program. Really great job as always

I will start by saying that the staff was very friendly and the food was good. They had several different raw oysters to choose from and someone that shucked them right in front of you. All was well. We had 14 raw oysters and the steam pot (shared) + 2 Narragansett’s each. The bill was $200. I get inflation, but that felt like a lot.

The choice of oysters caters to those who don’t enjoy the briny and umami flavour of raw oysters. The ones we ordered were the most flavourless I’ve eaten. The selection for four different origins were no match for the full-bodied succulence of a Pacific oyster or Sydney rock oyster. The clam boil was way too salty (and not because of the seafood, since there were very few clams, mussels, and shrimp). Apart from the saltiness, this dish was largely devoid of flavour, presumably to keep step with the oyster selection.

Delicious crab cakes. Everyone loves their food. The service was great and I think we had the best seat in the house. I definitely recommend checking this place out.

One of my favorite Lawrenceville spots! So unique, feels like you're not in Pittsburgh while also being filled with some really cool Pittsburgh history. Their oysters are so good and fresh. I love a good, quality oyster spot. And the lobster rolls were loaded . Always a good time when we visit.

The best restaurant in Pittsburgh! They are consistently delicious and have great service. The chowders and soups are amazing and they have the best oysters! My kids even love it for the foot-long hot dog!
