Looks cute, but this location used to be Doug's Market, which offered affordable necessities for locals for years. You could cash your check, get affordable sandwiches, produce, soups, canned goods, diapers, or money orders. It was a real pillar for the community. Now, it doesn’t cater to lower middle-class Pittsburgh locals but is perfect for a yuppie.

If you make the trek to Randyland, you should definitely stop at Mayfly.
Having said that, this business seems to be having an identity crisis. Is it a local high-end grocer? A lunch counter? A gift shop? All of the above?
When I arrived I was the only customer, but the person on staff looked confused by my presence. I asked if I could order a sandwich, as it was in no way evident that that was possible. "Yes" was the response, and I was handed a menu at the cash.
I was told it would be 10 minutes, which seemed like a long time at 11:30 am with only me, but ok. I then saw many people arriving who had ordered ahead, so that is always a good sign when locals are supporting a business.
There is a bench on the street in front of the adjacent house. Sit and soak in the neighborhood, which is very nice.
I took the sandwich to go and ate it later at the airport. It was great. Roast beef on nice bread with aioli, arugula and Swiss cheese.

We stopped here for some quick dinner and they had some very fresh and delicious food!!! Prepared salads, sides and soup. Extremely healthy food along with some cutesy little picnic style foods

LOVE this store!! It’s a staple in my favorite neighborhood and they have the best seasonal sorbets. Just stopped in for sandwiches from the deli and they were superb. The owner is great and I always love the flowers and art in addition to food & snack selections! This is a must if you’re munchy in the NorthSide!

A hidden gem of the Northside! Fabulous place. Has just about everything you can imagine for a market and perhaps a little bit more. I will definitely be coming back !
