Not particularly impressed by the installations. The gift shop was the highlight of the visit. Skip.

I am an avid museum goer. I love strange art. This museum was an incredible disappointment overall. There were only three installations that stood out to me: Isla Hansen, Greer Lankton, & Catalina Munoz- these were memorably whimsical to view. I found everything else questionable and lackluster. If they have discount days, maybe give it a try if you have some time to spend. But I don’t think this is worth the current $22 per ticket and I will not be recommending this place to my friends.

Overpriced for overly eccentric “art”.

I would give this place 0 stars if i could. Save your moneyyyy!!! Thankfully I went here for free other than that I would want a refund, lol no forreal! It is very dark and the “art” makes zero sense. I went in with an opened mind thinking it would be cool local art…. Complete opposite very scary actually. 0/10 recommend! Please don’t go here!!

I really, really wanted to like it. The tickets were free, for goodness sake. But gosh, I just. Did not like it.
If you go, use the RAD pass for the free admission. The $22 admission cost feels like an insult after you're done.

If there was a no star I would use it. Don't waste your money. Silicone slabs hung on metal poles, chains hanging over broken cement chunks, badly folder and painted corrugated tiny buildings in a diorama, your grandfather's garage contents nailed together and a pitch black room is not art. I was angry that I went. So pathetic and not worth the time and money.

Zero Stars. Seriously. Save your hard earned money. There are so many awesome places to visit in Pittsburgh. This is not one of them. This museum makes zero sense. Exhibits with no explanation posted or statements that are unreadable due to being posted very high on the walls. I love art. I absolutely have no appreciation of these exhibits. There are a lot of dark rooms. Pitch black. What happened to the mirrors exhibit? Everything is very boring. Waste of time, energy, money. Appears unsafe. I will not recommend this museum to anyone. This museum should be donation only in its current state. Very warm in the museum. Air conditioning was not sufficient. Twenty two dollars per person is ridiculous. Go to Heinz, Science Center, Phipps, Andy Warhol, National Aviary, etc. Two thumbs down.

I have a soft spot for contemporary art. this museum does so much for the arts in Pittsburgh. Visit and then visit again when the art changes.

I am a huge fan of art of all kinds, especially unique or unusual art. I’ve been to all different types of places and love perspective art but this place is nothing more than random stuff, yes even garbage tossed around and called art. I mean there is a literal room of all garbage and it’s one of the pieces. A dark room you sit in for 15 mins and a bunch of other random junk that looks like kids threw together and decided to charge $20 for people to see it. If I were the owners, I’d have to laugh at all the people paying to see the literal garbage on display. Not to mention no one who works there really explains much so we didn’t really even know where to go first or last. So many other cool things to do in Pittsburg, SKIP. THIS. PLACE! You’d see cooler, more inspiring actual art walking down a city street.

I had a wonderful time. The buildings themselves are so interesting and the way the installations are designed to incorporate the space or point to its limitations is really great. You're not going to walk into big clean rooms and look at neatly hung beautiful pictures and paintings or starkly lit sculptures on pedestals- the shaggy lived in feeling of the space is kinda the whole thing of it. The installations we saw were all so different from one another, there was really something for everyone and we spent nearly three hours taking it all in. That being said, kids might not love it and it's not the most accessible experience for those with mobility issues so fair warning there.

A don’t miss for your next trip to Pittsburgh. Better than the Warhol IMO. Northside/Mexican War Streets is incredible.
