“The selection of beers here is top notch. I'm a sucker for some 4 packs of local pounders, and they have some great ones. Dancing Gnome, Hitchhiker, Cinderlands, East End, they're all here. They also have domestics and lots of typical larger craft breweries 12 packs. As expected, those smaller 4, 6, and 12 packs can be a little pricey, but that's how it goes everywhere. To top it all off, the employees are super nice. Highly recommended if you value good beverages.”

5726 Ellsworth Ave, Pittsburgh“Great selection of beers and wines for any taste ✨ They also have wine/beer tasting events! And they have some seating in case if you would like to have a small gathering”
“Already reviewed when the place first opened but I love coming here. It's super convenient and the staff members are super nice and always helpful. Always have a positive experience when I come here”
“Been coming here since I was a kid now only buying water but nonetheless is still a great place. It’s hard to find 5 gallon top or bottom style water cooler refills and they have it reasonably priced actual springwater and if you need some of that courage in the bottle personality enhancing nectar they got plenty of that too.. always best pricing around. And the famous one for the road slushy bar machines, someday I’ll get one”
“So good! I appreciate that they have Arsenal all over the city, but nothing like trying all the variety at the cider house itself. I love the drier stuff and the broken hearts was a winner for me. My partner got a ginger one and that was also delicious. Friendly staff and nice cozy place. Outside was spacious and we were lucky enough to snag a spot by the fire pit. A Pittsburgh must.”
“They had dollar tallboys of cider. Fire. Smells like cigarettes but in a warm and comforting way. Makes you wanna leave the store quickly. Keeps you on task. Great space. High ceilings.”
“Was a decent place to get beer until a manager told me to leave after I questioned his decision to sell beer that went from cold to warm after their fridges went out. He called me elitist for saying I write beer reviews. Not sure how you can be elitist for that, but okay. I did a bit of research on this subject after the manager responded (which was nice of him) and I stand partially corrected. It turns out that beer can go from cold to warm and not get 'skunked,' but in my experience--and many others'--there's a taste difference after going from cold to warm that's notable. It wasn't exactly cold in the shop; it was warm. But I'll err on the side of saying I have learned something from this exchange and I'll adjust my rating accordingly.”

10 Old Clairton Rd, Pittsburgh“Sometimes shop here for a holiday or special event or for a gift, though I could count the times on one hand over the past two years. Very good selection, though I would hardly think of myself as a wine expert.
They do offer tasting events. Check their website.
If you cook and use alcohol (such as cognac) in a dish, you will find a good selection of sample bottles.
You may also find a genteel employee who reminds me of a polo patron.”

1955 Wharton St, Pittsburgh“Marcy took care of me! I walked in here two days after my 21st knowing nothing about anything. She was so sweet, she really set me up right. Respected my budget and was genuinely excited to show me to where the good stuff was. I'm telling all my friends this is the spot. Thanks for a hype bday Marcy!”
“Since moving into the Emsworth/Ben Avon/Bellevue area (2019), I have bought my ciders and hard lemonade from only Shadeland. Every person who works there is helpful, courteous, and friendly -- no doubt trickle-down from Michelle!”
“Balson Beer Distributors is AMAZING!! Owner Nick went above and beyond for my husband and I when we needed a beer delivery. He provided us with an exceptional level of customer service and was extremely helpful in recommending beers and quantities. When we arrived at our wedding the beer as promised and was cooled for our guests. Thank you again Nick and the rest of the wonderful employees at Balson Beer Distributors who helped make our wedding absolutely perfect! Megan & Justin”

11685 Penn Hills Drive, Pittsburgh“It's always well staffed. It's always well stocked. But they have armed security in this store. And in the shopping center. We were attacked by a shopper down by Giant eagle just a couple weeks ago. Guy tried to pull us out of our car. I just took off and called the cops. It's getting crazy up here”
“Lovely location with an awesome staff. Had a family member get sick over the holidays and Melanie was wonderful. She was able to locate my order over the phone and return two of the unused bottles in store. She never hesitated to search for my order and print my receipt, when I was the one who declined the receipt at the time of purchase. Never have we returned liquor, but with the stomach bug, we couldn’t risk our friends/family getting sick. We are not big drinkers outside of holidays, so to get the $70 back was very nice. 10/10 would recommend. Clean facility, great selection, and thoughtful team members.”
“A good liquor store in a historical part of town. Over 100 years ago this place was known as Rothman's Restaurant and Bar. Here's an awesome street view image that shows what this same area looked like way back in 1909. It was famous for good whiskey and Baeuerlein Beer was on draught at that time.”
11AM - 5PM
4770 McKnight Rd, Pittsburgh“My go to for German beers, they also have a bunch of harder to find beers. The staff is very knowledgeable and the new owner is very willing to look for beers they don't have.”
“Absolutely massive selection of craft beers, great store and easy to get to. Prices are decent, a little on the high end but expected. Worth the stop if you have the time”
“Super professional, always courteous, and the one woman ,Kris she is absolutely beautiful my son James has the biggest crush on her we work for the person who owns the building so we dee what goes on behind the scenes and its a great place”
“Picked up a couple cases of Irons here on my way through Pittsburgh, can't say enough good about the place! Friendly, fast, and helpful. Asked if they had cases if IC, the fellow there said, "Well, yeah!" I shoulda known haha. Grabbed a couple and headed out, caught them right before they closed, but no problems.”

“I was in the area and needed some Corona. The store is not that large but they use the space very wisely and have a huge selection of different beers. The staff where friendly and helpful. I will go there again when in the need for some more beer.”

3080 McIntyre Square Dr, Pittsburgh“As I get older it seems like I visit the liquor store more and more! LOL. My favorite wine and spirits store is this one in McIntyre Square. They are always well stocked, and they seem to have the most chairman select options on sale there. From my wife's box wine to my choice of Jack Daniels they have it here. Like the Village Of Pine location, they used to have wine tasting times but since covid I don't think they've brought that back. However, this location I recommend for all your liquor purchasing needs”
10AM - 7PM
3873 Brighton Rd, Pittsburgh“Friendly folks and a great selection of beer. The gentleman spent the time to tell me about new beers they have available and make suggestions. Everything is very clean and organized, and prices were great. I'd go out of my way to shop here just for the good conversation, helpful employees, and friendly vibes.”
“Nice selection convenient location bear home and work. Why was I charged $2 more for a 12 pack when I bought two last week? Different person behind the register!”
“The Pennsylvanian government operates hundreds of these stores throughout the state. At this particular location, an employee promptly greeted me when I entered the store. I easily found my two favorite wines on the shelves. They were priced reasonably. The employee accurately scanned my wines and processed my payment, and he wished me a good day.”
“Always good+ service when I shop there no complaints. High Five to Noah... I would like to make a request get some Buddy Brews Tshirts made up for the Tshirt collectors out there and also mention Southside pa on it with the zip code 15203.”
“Love coming here to peruse the shelves and get new things to try! I’m a creature of habit so being able to go and taste helps me try new things and they are always super helpful. They have a wide selection, I’m always pleased to see they have single cans just in case you don’t want to commit to a six or twelve pack of something you may not like. Also the staff is just super nice, good people, and always pleasant to talk to while you browse. This is a must visit place for non-alcoholic beverages if you’re in Pittsburgh, visitor or resident.”
