This is probably the best independently-owned little shop in the world. Everything is really well curated and eclectic. Fantastic book selection. My favorite place to buy gifts for people. The staff can always recommend something perfect and they’re always really kind.

Kards is a very cute shop with a great selection of books, cards, and gifts for everyone in your life. They also host a monthly book club that just started back up that I enjoy participating in as a reader.
Three generations of family-owned retail since 1968 was passed down to an employee of 15 years in June 2021! We uphold LGBTQ+ and anti-racist values and offer a huge array of fun things to buy: local fare, t-shirts, greeting cards, novelty toys, jewelry, and a vast selection of books. We are unique, eclectic, sometimes irreverent, often weird, and always striving to learn and do better. In short, we are as far removed from a "Hallmark style" cookie-cutter chain store as you can get. We have been amusing ourselves and the Shadyside community for more than 50 years, and we would love for you to come join us!
