Soooooo much interpersonal drama. Many people join up and then leave after a month or two because of the drama and condescension that can come from some of the members. Also, when I tried to get a piece of partially broken equipment taken offline until it was fixed in a way that disabled people could once again use it, I was told off for wanting to inconvenience people.

A great non profit maker space where they teach and provide guidance for electrical, metal and woodworking projects.

Asked for a nuclear bomb, received a dented bomb casing full of pinball machine parts. Can no longer perform act of terrorism, but on the other hand now I can play PIN-BOT in prison. A++++

I took a welding class taught by Mr Keifer, he was very patient, knowledgeable, thorough and answered all of my questions. It was a perfect class for someone with no experience. You get to make a chain lamp for your man cave, and they also provided a real nice lunch. Overall it was a great class to learn to safely get into hobby welding without having to go to vo tech school.

Joined a few months ago because the wood shop is great. 24-hour access is a great plus. Getting to know the members and they're all helpful and friendly. If you're into making things HackPGH is definitely worth the low monthly membership fee.

I am not yet a member, but as several of my friends are, I am occasionally there. I've never felt less than welcomed, and I always learn things when talking to the people I meet there. Their workspace is logically laid out, and people seem to be very careful and safety conscious.I plan to join in the next few months, and would recommend them to anyone looking to learn and build.

Nerdvana!!! My husband visited last week. He was excited about the space and brought me last night. This is several large rooms of machines and lots of computers. There are several advanced 3D printers and etching equipment. There are sewing machines a computer driven embroidery machine and other equipment which were being used by a group who were designing cosplay outfits. There are computers with licenced copies of Adobe Suites and other graphics programs. There is sautering equipment. One of the best features of the place is the people. Interesting friendly nerds in the best sense. If you want to learn to use the equipment, there are times for lessons or you can contact a member and ask him or her to teach you. This space is well known in the community and beyond. It has been visited by some famous people. It costs $50 per month to join but there are significant discounts for students, military, people over 62 and others. If you join you get a key fob which gives you 24 hour access. There are usually open houses for non members Saturday and Monday evenings.
